Investigators track Colo. shooting suspect's ammo shipments
CBS News ^ | July 21, 2012 | by Bob Orr

(CBS News) Sources say investigators have found key evidence in dumpsters and trash bins outside of James Holmes' apartment, including a shipping label from an internet ammunition store called BulkAmmo.com.

Investigators also tell CBS News they have recovered a surveillance video of James Holmes picking up approximately 150 pounds of ammunition at a Federal Express outlet in Colorado.

They've interviewed a UPS driver who says Holmes had 90 packages delivered to his workplace on the University of Colorado medical campus.

And sources say over the past several months, Holmes spent about $15,000 as he was putting together his deadly arsenal -- guns, chemicals, explosives, and ammunition.

"Through the Internet he purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition, more than 3,000 rounds of. 223 ammunition for the assault rifle, 3,000 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition for the two Glocks in his possession and 300 rounds for the 12 gauge shotgun."

Holmes did most his shopping on Internet sites. And he was clearly in a hurry.

A receipt from TacticalGear.com shows on July 2 -- two-and-a-half weeks before the shootings -- Holmes purchased a bulletproof vest and other equipment. He paid extra to have it shipped by 2nd-day air.

When I first heard this, the first thing that came to mind was the fact Obama communist are pushing the small arms treaty with the UN, now mass murder using small arms, focusing on Internet purchases and how easy it is to get small arms. A coincidence or conspiracy?

After fast and furious, nothing surprises me about this government at all!

I wonder who from within the OWS movement recruited him to do this, and who were they REALLY working for? The same agency that funneled weapons to Mexican terrorists? Perhaps a domestic type of Fast & Furious op as replacement for the now defunct Fast & Furious op tried in Mexico? Imagine if there was a gun control treaty for Obama to sign at the U.N.. Oh wait.. There is? WORST MASS CASUALTY SHOOTING IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!

I think the answer to your question is all the cops were at the theater by then. A loud music call would be a no priority at that point.

All first responders went to the theater. Loud music, traffic accidents, dogs barking, etc... None of that mattered after the first calls from the theater.

His Father was an electrical engineer and a senior lead scientist for FICO (Fair Isaac) the giant credit rating company.

The car could easily have been a college graduation gift.

He also had a NIH grant for neuroscience.

I don’t see much of a baffling financial mystery here.

Which begs the question- who was bankrolling this guy?

Someone in his status could have had several credit cards and decent credit limits if he'd used them responsibly in the past.

Thanks.

Actually, I am interested in the issue of cash on hand for these purchases. It’s one thing to have money coming in regularly, but it’s another to make major purchases.

OK. I’m lost. This white Tiburon is registered to the shooter, who lives in Colorado but grew up in California. And the car has Tennessee plates?

Tennessee is what, a suburb of Colorado?

The following is quoted from NaturalNews.com, which speculates that this is a “false flag event”:

“He said pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated, adding the booby-traps were ‘something I’ve never seen.’ One rifle, two handguns, a knife, a bullet proof vest, a ballistic helmet, a gas device, a gas mask, military SWAT clothing and unidentified explosives were also found in Holmes’ car, a law enforcement source told CBS News. [Chief of Police] Oates said Holmes wore a gas mask, a ballistic helmet and vest as well as leg, groin and throat protectors during the shooting.”

In other words, this guy was equipped with exotic gear by someone with connections to military equipment. SWAT clothing, explosives, complex booby-traps... c’mon, this isn’t a “lone gunman.” This is somebody who was selected for a mission, given equipment to carry it out, then somehow brainwashed into getting it done.

It might make sense to have buckets of ammo that would detonate and scatter randomly amidst an explosion or fire.

Ammo is marked ORM-D. Not really anything anyone would notice at a lab.

I guess the PC types at CU would be unfamiliar
with 90 UPS packages marked ORD-M sent to his work.
