From the Lds-church owned KSL article: A GOP activist who prosecutors say kidnapped and raped women that he met online and at CHURCH functions has been arrested and charged with 23 felonies. He appears to have targeted mostly LDS young adult women. Gregory Nathan Peterson, 37, of Orem, was charged Wednesday with seven counts of rape, three counts of object rape, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, nine counts of forcible sexual abuse, forcible sodomy, assault, burglary and sexual battery. Peterson is a GOP activist who held political events at his cabin in Heber City, 10160 E. Ridge Pine Drive, the same place where prosecutors allege he took at least two of his victims after kidnapping them and then raped them. One of those attacks, according to investigators, happened just one day after a political event...Investigators have identified at least four victims dating back to March of 2011. Peterson met three of the victims on an online dating site and another at a CHURCH function, according to the charges. Prosecutors would not say Thursday which online dating services Peterson used. However, he had profiles on at least two online dating sites, LDSSingles.com and LDSLinkup.com. His last activity on LDSSingles.com was Wednesday before he was arrested. On his dating profile, in which he used the profile name, "oddsrgoodbutgoodsrodd," Peterson stated that he had a LDS temple recommend and served an mission to Venezuela and also noted in his profile that he "regularly attends church."

Pray for the Mormon women who were Greg Peterson's victims -- and please think of them first.

Note: GOP in the headline, GOP in the first sentence, GOP repeated, “Republican(s)” mentioned twice. Why do I get the sense that if this creep had been a dem that “democrat” would not be mentioned once?

Prayers for them for sure. But, what does being a GOP activist have to do with it? How large would the newspapers be if they listed every thing that a perp ever had belonged to or had an interest in? Whenever a dem is accused of something it’s never mentioned in the press what the political party is that they belong to. But, let some republican do something and the warnings go out to be wary of those crazy racist, rapist, hateful republicans. Disgusting to say the least. Maybe we should ban political events since they obviously lead some to be raped afterwards.

Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.

How can one think of the victims first when the emphasis is on the GOP Activist? Is there any proof that the politicians he did fundraisers for knew that he was a rapist and said or did nothing?

Yep. No doubt that “GOP” is the point of this article. My belief is the line has already been drawn in the sand. Most everyone sees what we’re seeing and that Obama and the dem senate is toast this November. The only ones falling for this “GOP,GOP,GOP” crap are already blood sucking libs and there’s no changing them.

Of course, despite what we know about him, nobody’s talking about how Democrat Activist James Holmes (D-Aurora) murdered 12 people in a Theatre.

You know, KSL is a Salt Lake City radio station owned and operated by THE supposedly conservative Mormon church.

(If you think this is slanted "liberal" in any way -- then why don't you ask those who keep defending Romney as "conservative" on the basis that Mormons are supposedly "conservative?")

I'm going to give you the same response I just gave Bobsatwork:

Why is it first impulse to protect the rep of the rapist and his associations? [Well, kudos to you -- unlike Bobsatwork -- for at least mentioning first: "Prayers for them for sure"]

It’s really quite shameful how the FR religion forum has been subverted into a vehicle for a handful of frothing mormon-haters.

Now, statistically, wtf other than mormons would you be likely to target in Salt Lake City?

How shameful people get on the religion forum to complain about the religion forum.
Hundreds of thread are posted only a few are about mormonism or mormons.

“Why is it first impulse to protect the rep of the rapist and his associations?”

Pointing out blatant, severe liberal media bias is not trying to “protect the rep of the rapist”.

So you claim that the official Mormon church, which officially owns KSL and produced this article, is guilty of "severe liberal media bias?"

Any Mormons agree?

Any Romney supporters agree?

Even as of a decade ago -- 43% of SLC was NOT LDS [Source: Olympics put spotlight on Mormon world: "Salt Lake City has a population of about 184,000, and 57 percent are LDS members"."]

I've seen other sources saying roughly the same thing -- that SLC is 55-60% Lds. If it's 55%, you would expect SLC to become less concentrated Lds over the past decade...tho if it's 60% I can believe that, too, given that Lds have larger families and their demographics trend younger.

Also, most religion articles are actually about religion, they aren’t news articles reposted as religion articles simply because we know the religion of someone mentioned in the article.

When I was LDS there was this man who had raped several women in our Stake (diocese for the Catholics). The Bishops and Stake President covered it up and would just move him to different wards after every rape. The women were threatened with discipline if they reported it.

It happens more than most would think in Mormonism as does the cover up.

Since there's no hope for keeping this information in proper context, rather than mouth-frothing agitators stirring hate, division and discontent over loose associations, it's worthless to post and, I'll point out, this article's been posted at least twice now.

I don't know that there's "bias" so as much as an accounting of, gasp, some Republican brown-noser attended and attempted to hold Republican fundraisers, met Republicans in or running for office.

Objectively it's of no real import to the candidates or the party. Politically? You and the Democrats will make hay if perhaps from different angles. For you it's an opportunity to attack the LDS -and- Romney, for them it's an opportunity to attack Romney and other Republicans.

(And so in your first comment on this info, there’s zilch in the way of empathy or compassion or prayers on behalf of the rape victims...and unlike so many of the Holmes threads that had people condemning him in some way, you don’t condemn the accused rapist...does this mean you’re siding with the accused rapist?)
