CCHL holders are law abiding citizens, and when it is posted “no guns” CCHL’s don’t carry into that building (and sometimes simply do not go there).
He was apparently a crafty bugger. Using body armor and tear gas really would have made someone with a CCW handgun have a hell of a time taking him. A head shot in tear gas has to be tricky.
“Cinemark doesn’t allow CCW”
Free-fire zone.
This proves Bloomberg is right in his comments today—we do need to do something about guns.
Laws governing conceal carry permits should be liberalized, allowing more law abiding citizens to carry guns, anywhere they choose to carry them.
If this had been done sooner, it would have prevented huge numbers of gun related homicides.
I heard folks describe the gunman as walking away from them shooting randomly. If I can see his back I can be on it.

Legs/groin area is easier to hit, and most body armor doesn’t reach down that far.
Better to be judged by 12 ... what is the fine for ignoring their STUPID no gun rule
You can’t seriously be suggesting that more guns in a DARK theater would have helped against a man in black with four guns and a canister of gas.
Or maybe you could.
Sure. All those poor folk needed was crossfire in the dark.
Wish I knew how to post that face palm photo.
The Cinemark here where I live used to have the standard 30.06 up on the door behind the ticket booth. I was often covered by movie posters.
Now its gone and all they have is a little sticker with a gun and a slash over it.
What is the required 30.06 sign?
In reference to Section 30.06 of the Texas Penal Code which prohibits carry of concealed weapons in areas posted with the required warning text in both English and Spanish in block letters at least one inch tall. You almost never see these signs ... anywhere.
You’re joking right ? If not ... you’re on the wrong site
And it was dark. And the perp was wearing black.
Thank you for some common sense.
Since Cinemark does not care about the safety of its patrons, who would let their children go there?
It’s interesting to speculate what would’ve happened if someone in the theater was carrying. First, i would have to think it would be hard in the dark, especially with all the panic and commotion going on, to identify the gunman. The gunman is just shooting at random more or less, so identifying the right target is of no concern to him. Nor is he concerned what will happen if he misses his target (i.e., that he might hit someone he wasn’t aiming at). Plus, reports are that the gunman was wearing a bulletproof vest. So it might have taken a head shot to stop him, which wouldn’t be easy in the dark.
And then too, when the police arrive will they think the guy who happened to be carrying when all this went done was an accomplice instead of someone trying to take out the madman? In this case it would be obvious, at least afterward, since he wouldn’t be sporting a bulletproof vest. But would the police arriving on the scene shoot first and sort everything out later?
So you think that the perp would not find a “softer” target if he knew that there were armed people in the theater.
But a single individual firing back on the perp, whether or not they hit him, would have distracted him long enough for many to escape.
Imagine the effect of two trained CCW holders on the scene, or three or five.
I hold to the hope that FR is a site promoting common sense, both in politics and in American society.
My family owns an arsenal. We also have the good sense to know that guns aren’t the answer to all problems, and that they wouldn’t have stopped what happened in Colorado last night but would probably have resulted in more casualties.
I haven’t gone to a movie theater in years. If I can’t get it on Netfix, I just won’t see it. Movies are generally so raunchy these days that I don’t care to see many of the ones coming out today.
I never though of screwing as a spectator sport.
