Vows to block eatery over anti-gay attitude... Mayor Thomas M. Menino is vowing to block Chick-fil-A from bringing its Southern-fried fast-food empire to Boston possibly to a popular tourist spot just steps from the Freedom Trail after the family-owned firms president suggested gay marriage is inviting Gods judgment on our nation.
Chick-fil-A doesnt belong in Boston. You cant have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. Were an open city, were a city thats at the forefront of inclusion, Menino told the Herald yesterday.
Thats the Freedom Trail. Thats where it all started right here. And were not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.

Well, damn; Mr. Mayor just rescinded my invitation to Boston. Now, I guess I’ll have to find another puke-filled Northeast venue to visit, pending, of course. Ya’ see, Mr. Mayor, when ya’ states ya’ case, ya’ tells us what YOU are!
I love that they are christians and have morals....My biggest problem is that I seem to always go to the mall on Sunday and have a taste for Chick Fil A and they are closed...lol. So last night I made a point of eating there. They have the best food in town. I also go to Starbucks because I love their frappicinos. I imagine they probably believe in something that I don’t. We cannot just go to places that 100 percent believe what we believe because quite frankly we would have VERY little options.
If you call an actual half of a chicken breast (not processed or squashed chicken) pressure cooked to tenderness, then lightly breaded and fried for a few seconds to get the crust crispy placed on a toasted bun with the best waffle fries EVER good, then yeah.
Seriously, it’s about the best ‘fast food’ there is because it doesn’t taste like fast food. Their salads and soups are the freshest.
You don’t get to be as huge as Chick fil a in the south with franchises while being in malls AND CLOSED ON SUNDAY without being so good, people overlook that.
Boston, not exactly the home of variety: Seafood restaurants, pubs, Dunkin Donuts and CVS on every block. Everything else need not apply.
Mr. Cathy was my kids’ Sunday School teacher. Yes, this gazillionaire is STILL a Sunday School teacher at the Baptist church in the small town I used to live in. Well, he was when I lived there, not positive anymore. But this was only about 8 years ago.
Very astute. I concur 100%.
Does Chick-file-A actually discriminate? I think not. But its owner exercises his rights as a citizen and supports the political causes of his choice, based on his religious values. That is the American way. I think Menino might have a lawsuit on his hands if he tries facist tactics over non-existent charges of “discrimination”?
Yes you can! There is a bar near Boston City Hospital that my guitar player and I were told “you know, you boys can’t come in here at night, right?” It was good advice.
Finally!
An explanation for the reason the colonists rebelled against England!
So queers, lesbians and perverts in general could run around the country forcing everyone else to accepy them as "normal".
You cant have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.”
This is just such a stupid statement. Everyone is welcome to eat at Chic Fil A.
We have been eating there for a number of years. The taste and quality of their food has never changed in spite of all the government regulations designed to remove all taste and flavor, unlike other fast food restaurants.
There’s one on the North Shore. Peabody, I think.
“You cant have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.”
I doubt that Chic-fil-A refuses to serve anyone.
Menino’s concern is that the owner of the chain is committing THOUGHTCRIME by holding the wrong opinion. Discrimination is something else altogether.
Riiiiiight!
During the riots protesting forced busing in Boston.
“were a city thats at the forefront of inclusion,
Except when you have different points of view! In that case, we practice incluseion via exclusion!
There is one at the North Shore mall. I had no idea and I’m 10 minutes away from there. I might go for lunch today....
You cant have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.
Doesn’t every business that limits its business services or products in any way discrimate against some population? Seafood restaurants must are discriminating against those with shell fish allergies, ice cream places are discriminating against those who want alcohol? On and on and on...
The only way ANY business could meet this guys statement is to offer EVERY product and service that has ever been invented and manufactured.
OH, and hey mr mayor, do you have smoking bans in your city?
You cant have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.
Hey, Mumbles, they don't actually discriminate against anyone - anyone who has money and behaves decently is invited into their facilities to buy and eat food. The owner merely expressed his personal views on a subject that touched upon religion. But, hey, why let facts get in the way of a good screed?
Way to go, putz: keeping business out of your shitty is no way to improve either employment numbers or tax revenues. Clearly, Mumbles doesn't have anyone in his inner circle who has the sense or the guts to say, "Hey, Mayor, it would really be best for yourself and the city is you would STFU."
It doesnt send the right message to the country, Menino said
So I guess THIS is what Mumbles thinks the RIGHT message is????
