This is not the first time. They shot a marine dead who answered his door with a gun in hand.

No knock warrants should not be allowed. period. worried he’s gonna jump out the back window? here’s a wild idea.. Put some cops back there to catch him BEFORE you knock.

If only he had a dog for them to shoot instead, he’d still be alive today.

On seeing that Scott was armed officers immediately opened fire with a shower of bullets that killed the 26-year-old and left several holes in his front door.

Unbelievable! Cops seem to think that any movement on your part that causes them to question your motives, gives them cause to shoot you, and that includes shoot to kill, as in this case!

This reminds of when the police killed the Hispanic out in Azizona last year, inside his home, after he returned home from work. And his wife and boy were inside the house with him.

Tough to say what the right response should be, but one might be not to answer the door if you don’t know who is on the other side. If they start breaking down the door without identifying themselves (even then you don’t know for sure)it is decision time.

Cops just seem too trigger-happy these days. The fact is, they killed a guy who was obeying the law. If the cops are unwilling to take SOME risk, they need to get off the force. These bully-boys give pigs everywhere a bad name!

Does this now turn into a felony murder rap for the original perp?

No one will get rich off of this, lawsuits will go nowhere. There will be no loss of $ or career for the individuals involved, and no one will go to jail.

Just another murder by police that will soon be forgotten until the next one.

It will be ‘justified’, the police never admit they are wrong.

DON’T ANSWER THE DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!

You better figure out WHO is on the other side WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR!

YOU have the disadvantage of having to take a second and evaluated the “visitor”, before deciding to shoot.

The visitor only needs to see the crack in the doorway....

Just the other day HERE on FR many FReepers were supportive of 2 Sacremento cops shooting a young hispanic male, they had up against a wall, when they saw the butt of a gun. "We" weren't there so somehow murder-by-cop is justified.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Nothing will be done to the cops except they might get rewarded with extra vacation with pay.

This is just bullsh1t policing.

All these knobs ought to be fired. If they are going to be running around with lethal weapons and are so freaking indifferent to getting things wrong, heads must roll. They are murdering innocent citizens under color of law.

This sh1t has to be stopped and I hope the next cop team that gets it wrong get taken down by the innocent citizen defending himself.

These cops should have NO PROTECTION for not announcing. What the hell is an innocent citizen to reasonably assume? Not the freaking COPS busting in that’s for damn sure.

In my state if they come in unannounced the homeowner is protected if they fire on them. Of course they may claim they announced even if they did not. That’s where a person’s security cameras and recording gear have to come into play. And its unfortunate you have to have it but nowadays you do.

Of course, too, the new rule is if you don’t have plans for someone coming over, you don’t open the door for anyone.

If they claim they are cops you call 911 and confirm it.
