There is a journalistic convention that appears to place great weight on SEC documents. But these are public filings by companies, which usually means there are not great secrets hidden in them. The Fact Checker, in an earlier life covering Wall Street, spent many hours looking for jewels in SEC filings.
As we wrote yesterday, we are standing with our assessment that Mitt Romney left the helm of Bain Capital in 1999, when he left to run the Salt Lake City Olympics. The date is important because some questionable investments by Bain took place between 1999 and 2002, when he ran for governor. But a Boston Globe article on Thursday raised new questions about that timeline, citing SEC filings, and the Obama campaign jumped to take advantage of it.
Despite the furor, we did not see much new in the Globe article. We had examined many SEC documents related to Romney and Bain in January, and concluded that much of the language saying Romney was sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president was boilerplate that did not reveal whether he was actually managing Bain at the time. (For instance, there is no standard definition of a chief executive, securities law experts say, and there is no requirement for anyone to have any responsibilities even if they have that title.)

This is an interesting piece from Dr Jack Wheeler about Mccain. This would explain why he laid down like a dog and lost the Presidency.

And so what will happen in Romney V Obama.
Romney wins.
The powers that be have already decided.
Romney Accused Of Felony-Obama Proven To Have Committed FELONY
While Obama 2012 Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter has opened the door with her efforts to accuse Mitt Romney of committing a Felony by misrepresenting his position with Bain Capital while running the 2000 Olympics, perhaps the media should now call out Barack Obama for having committed FELONY perjury with the Illinois Supreme Court.

I will save and use the above as poor journalism and worse logic.
Mr. Romeny was not having sex with that Bain creature and there is no definition of what ‘is’ is. The Washington Post oozed into truly Clintonesque language and logic.
‘sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president
‘boilerplate’ my jolly ass. He ran the company, period.
TWB
Romney ran the 2002 Winter Olympics, not the 2000 Summer Olympics.
I can't stop laughing at the BROWN (from ZEROS BUTT) all over his nose. I'll bet BOR has fun with him in the back rooms off air. . . .
Poor Juan, even the LIBS make fun of him. . . .
Questionable investments by Bain took place between 1999 and 2002.
He left Bain on 2-99 per Bain statement.
Just like the media just make sheit up screw the facts.
Anyone notice Obama hasnt said how he going to improve his Jobs record, growth in GDP, or cut the debt.
Well, he just told Charlie Rose that his biggest problem was he didn’t tell America a good story. So in his second term he is going to come up with a composite that will inspire the masses and it will all be rainbows and lollipops from there on out...
That’s my feeling, too. If the sole shareholder, chairman of the board, CEO and president wasn’t running things and didn’t know what was going on, then who did?
I get the feeling that Romney may be trying to determine if maybe there was some janitor who worked there back then who is now deceased. If so, he could be the guy who will now be designated as the manager who was in “actual control” of the company between 1999 and 2002.
Romney is really just making it worse by trying to cover this mess up. He should just release the documents and forthrightly answer questions, even if the answers turn out to be a bit embarrassing. He can always say, “Please remember that all this happened before I created my current pro-life position.”
I would imagine him signing the Stericycle papers was similar to Reagan signing the Therapeutic abortion act in 1967.
This is the kind of story that the ComPost usually buries.
Romney ran the 2002 Winter Olympics, not the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Romney ought to see what the Judiciary Committee has to say about impeachable crimes the Obama administration has committed.
Statement of Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith
Full Committee Hearing
Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice
Chairman Smith: Regrettably, the Obama administration has shown a disregard for the Constitution and rule of law in an effort to impose their agenda on the American people. There are many examples.
Efforts to block congressional inquiries about the Administrations actions undermine the balance of power on which our nation was founded.
Neglecting to enforce or defend the laws enacted by Congress is another violation of the Administrations constitutional obligation to the American people.
Under this President, the Justice Department has engaged in a pattern of selective enforcement of the law in order to advance its own partisan agenda.
For instance, the Obama administration has sought to prevent state and local authorities from enforcing immigration laws.

I recognize that not all Republicans are conservative and that not all Republicans are religious. Not all Republicans oppose abortion, but nearly all conservatives do.
I believe that Romney will learn that a GOP nominee needs more than just his liberal base to win in November.
OK, it’s a little bit spooky when the Washington Post makes an effort to tell the truth...
Way off base...the managing director who is a lib and Obama supporter has even came out and said Romney had no active management role in the DAILY operations of the company after he left for SLC in 199 thru 2002. Romney is listed on the SEC filings because he was the titular head of the company.
Chicago pols and felony are synonomous - time to move on to what did Obama know about Rezko and when did he know it, don’t you think?
