Obama and Romney: Character Shows
The American Thinker ^ | 7-9-12 | Karin McQuillan

Posted on 07/09/2012 6:19:23 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Character is consistent. Voters say moral character is one of the most important things they look for in choosing the president. The character of a public figure can be hard to discern amidst a fog of self-advertising, hype, and the distorting effects of TV.

~snip~

An unusual personal story gives us insight into Mitt Romney. It is 1996. Mitt Romney is the head of Bain Capital in Boston. One of his employees comes to him, utterly distraught. His 14-year-old daughter snuck out of the house to go to a rave in New York and has been missing for three days. One of her teen friends said he gave her ecstasy and that he last saw her partying under a bridge.

Did Romney offer sympathy and hope? Write a check for a private detective? Wait for the government to solve it? No -- he took responsibility. He took action. He shut down the firm and brought all the employees to New York. For 48 hours, they scoured the streets, going everywhere, asking teenagers if they'd seen the missing girl. Romney called on business associates to send more people to help until they numbered 200. He printed 300,000 fliers and got Duane Reade, one of Bain's success stories, to put fliers in every shopper's bag in their 52 stores. Romney set up a hotline. A broken-off phone call was traced; the girl was discovered in the basement of a house in New Jersey and reunited with her family.

~snip~

Romney shows the missing girl's photo to a teenage girl on the street. She says to him, "No, I haven't seen her, but you're not the first person who came up and asked if I'd seen her. I wish my parents cared enough about me, to do something like this for me."

Yam again because people are not kissing your behind for your choice of a liberal candidate you call that hate.
What is being trashed on FR, and it should be, is LIBERALISM.
The irony is that you for reasons known only to you fail to see it as it is.
For reasons known only to you, if anyone dare point out Romney’s liberalism you call it hate.
You say the anti-Romney rhetoric speaks for itself, I would say Romney’s liberalism speaks for itself.
You say the anti-Romney rhetoric speaks for itself, I would say your anti-Conservative rants speaks for itself.
You say the anti-Romney rhetoric speaks for itself, I would say your continued trashing of FR and Jim Robinson, here on FR and elsewhere speaks for itself.

Walker is trapped in the GOP-e chinese cookie factory just like Palin, Perry, DeMint, et al. It’s the price they pay for locking themselves in with the party structure. They cannot advance unless they toe the party line.

Scott Walker, Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Jim DeMint, Jim Robinson.

Of these five people, only one has the integrity to stand before the American people and speak the truth as they see it.

Got it.

Excuse me, but what about the character of a politician who knowingly, willingly creates law to force adoption agencies to cooperate with homosexual couples who want to adopt children?

What about the character of a politician who says that if a minor girl wants an abortion but her parents object, she should be able to go to a judge and have him overrule her parents?

What about the character of a politician who proclaims and endorses a homosexual group in its "outreach" to 12-year-old kids?

Romney has done ALL THREE OF THOSE THINGS, and that's just scratching the surface of the real quality of the guy's "character." It is low and destructive, and America not only deserves better, she NEEDS better. She NEEDS people with the courage to reject politicians of low character.

Afraidfortherepublic, courage means "being afraid but saddling up anyway," according to a man of REAL character, John Wayne.

Character COUNTS. That is why I refuse to vote for Romney. It doesn't count as much for you -- otherwise you'd deny him your vote as staunchly and rightly as you do Obama.

The story has “legs”. Romney may be forced to withdraw and allow the Republican convention to select a candidate.

From your keyboard to God's eyes.

ANYONE is head and shoulders better then Obama.

Wrong. Absolutely wrong. Yours is a statement that springs from plain hysteria.

With respect, M4M, WTH is wrong with you?

Wrong. We are ardent authoritarian-haters.

I’m not voting for a pastor.

Neither is anyone else. But if you vote for Romney, your vote "against" Obama will be your full sanction and endorsement of government tyranny from the Republican party, whether you intend it to be or not.

I'm voting for a pluralty in order to deny a popular vote mandate to either of these assclowns, and I'll do it by voting third party.

You, meantime, will be sanctioning liberalism and statism in the Republican party with your vote "against" Obama. On what planet does voting for a liberal tyrant help defeat liberal tyranny?

On planet "I'm not voting for a pastor," that's where. On earth, voting for a liberal tyrant remains destructive and guaranteed to fail. I pray that more and more good ABO patriots figure that out before November.

Jim, PLEASE read:

So, Technocrat, you're being like a welfare leech and remaining here while folks like ME subsidize you?

Hey, Jim, did you see Tech's post? He wrote:

Ever notice how it’s taking a really long time to do fund raisers these days? I have given over $20,000 to this site over the years. Not one dime more until the stupid goes away. You are the stupid.

Worse than Obama?

A Trojan Horse within the conservative party. A Republican in the White House who would relegate conservative Republicans in Congress to a powerless minority by coalescing with moderate Republicans and Democrats to advance the statist/liberal/amoral authoritarian agenda. LOOK AT ROMNEY'S RECORD.

Worse than Obama? A Republican at the top of both the party and the nation who would support in principle and in practice a liberal agenda depraved enough to punish adoption agencies for not relinquishing their precious, innocent charges to homosexual couples, and arrogant enough to deprive people of making their own health care choices and instead making them submit to government tyranny, and do it on the REPUBLICAN side of the aisle.

That would be worse than Obama, because at least conservative Republicans can fight Obama. They are neutered in any fight against fellow Republicans.

Obama is not the great-and-powerful Oz -- his support has been decimated within his own party, many of the folks who voted for him last time will reject him this time around, and his weakness and repulsiveness are being downplayed and disguised by a sycophantic MSM and a GOP Establishment that wants to manipulate you with FEAR.

A Republican Congress, especially one motivated to embrace conservatism and reject moderate/liberal leanings after having seen Romney kicked to the curb, could and WOULD overpower and dominate scarecrow Obama in a second term, especially if in the popular vote, enough disgusted voters on both sides of the aisle (and signs are there will be plenty on the Democrat side) vote third party to put Obama in on a humiliating plurality. Obama would be a mockery, he would be weakened and vulnerable and defensive, if he entered office for a second term under conditions where the clear majority of Americans rejected him.

ABO causes tunnel vision.

When members of an organization start to tear down the best possible path forward and the organization does not correct the problem, why would I support it? That is not logical. This thread was showing a positive character trait of the Republican candidate, the superior one of the two possibles, and that character was assassinated post-haste. That is stupid. I will not support it.

This thread started out about a young girl, her family that needed help finding her, and a man who stepped up to the plate.

It was hijacked by jerks.

Keep the anti-mormon stuff (and no I don’t agree with that faith either) in the religion section, and keep the politics on the appropriate thread.

No matter how much you dislike Mitt, Obummer wouldn’t put down his 9 iron to help his own brother.

That was the moral of the story.

altura, I will write this very slowly.
This story is exaggerated as to Romney’s roll, in finding the runaway child of a friend and collage.
Did Romney help his friend, absolutely.
Did Romney participate, absolutely.
Is this story exaggerated as to Romney’s roll, absolutely.
Romney did a good thing helping his friend, he was not the savior of this situation.

Office of First President & Living Prophet®:

November 1st, 2011

The message for this month is -

Primaries are coming up REAL soon; so we MUST stay on our mantra:
We are NOT electing a pastor/pope, but a PRESIDENT!!

We've been taking a beating on the Internet - especially from those hateful ANTIs on FreeRepublic!
We MUST keep the media constantly informed of those things the world considers christian.

We must NOT allow our MORMONness to show thru, as it has gotten a really bad rap thru history - lord only knows why...

So you’re telling us that you would not try to hide income from double and triple taxation. Okay, but can you tell us that most Americans who are not liberal depenedents would not do similar to what Romney is said to have done? I know I would try to hide as much from the double and triple taxation as I possibly could, if I had the funds and means to do so. How is allowing a fascist federal oligarchy to double and triple confiscate from your earnings ‘patriotic’? Have you ever had the IRS and fee collectors take a third of a large amount you obtained via inheritence? I have. It sucks that I had no way to shelter a chunk of what they confiscated. And yet, even as they confiscate via double triple and sometime quadruple taxation, the federal spenders borrow even more to put you an d me further in debt for their spending. Sorry, if/when Americans see the reality they will endorse hiding money from the confiscatory bastards.

Dick Cheney is supporting Romney. Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, Perry, and Santorum too. Palin too. DeMint too. Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, John Bolton, Robert Bork, etc., etc.

Palin barely can stand to mention Romney's name. Cheney is a RINO himself. And, most of the others? As Rick Santorum put it, they are taking one for the team. Republican politicians have to support the nominee in order to have the support of the party when running for reelection.

Almost all Republicans supported both Bushes, too. That didn't make their Presidencies anything less than disasters.

I agree.
Palin looks pained when she mentions Romney’s name.
Really, why would she be a supporter when he (Romney) has done everything he can to destroy her.
