Who would be a good alternative to Obama?
Let's rally around someone to support.
The ‘convention’ is nothing more than a pep-rally. The reality is all the legally binding paperwork is now done behind the scenes by the party and the state leaders.
When I was an alternate delegate in 2000, we signed papers a month before regarding our vote and were told that it was all locked in then.
There are some who are hoping for change and that some will make a ‘scene’ at the convention. It doesn’t work that way and all the hoping for change won’t change that. With something like the presidency at stake, they sure aren’t going to let that major legally binding event take place at a pep-rally.
Prpbably too conservative, compared to Obama. Of course, I said the same thing about Chairman Mao.

Take a look around, there will be no other recognizable names on the ballot. Now who are you going to waste your vote on?

As promised, Romney has folded on ObamaCare too, although had I wagered money on the timing, I would have thought that he would have lasted at least a week. But apparently the revenue curve from stupid, imbecilic suckers giving Romney money in the wake of the SCOTUS decision fell off hard enough that the Romney people felt that it served no more purpose to perpetuate the repeal charade.
I hope every single one of you who gave that forked-tongued jack*** money feel the full shame and embarrassment of your own gullibility and obtuseness. This slackjawed sentimentalism WILL BE THE DEATH OF ALL OF US. It is truly sickening to see people elevate false sentiment over truth - all for the sake of a truly shallow SOCIAL EXPERIENCE.
Ignorance is one thing. Abject stupidity in the face of mountains of pounding evidence is another.
-Romney wrote and implemented ObamaCare’s template in Massachusetts.
-RomneyCare destroyed the Massachusetts economy. Romney refuses to this day to acknowledge that there is anything wrong with RomneyCare, or the economic damage it had done and continues to do to Massachusetts.
-Romney’s top aides and inner circle were frequent visitors to the White House and were instrumental in the drafting of ObamaCare in 2009.
-Romney has VOCIFERICOUSLY defended the concept of the mandate that people must, as a condition of their very existence, purchase a specific commodity.
-RomneyCare funds abortion with a mere $50 co-pay and forces all people under its control to pay for contraception and sterilization, including the Church in Massachusetts...

Mitt Romney is doing surprising well amongst those who classify themselves middle to right-of-center but don’t refresh freerepublic.com eight hundred times a day. That said, sure, he’s a lackluster candidate here, to say the least, and blows around in the political wind like tissue paper, but he’s not the vile America-hating piece of excrement we have now. Anyone who thinks they are even in the same ballpark isn’t thinking rationally.

Very good but you dodged the fact that the circumstances in 1920 are not the same that exist today. I wasn’t promoting Mitt Romney’s candidacy but just stating that there is virtually zero chance that the GOP nominee will be anybody but Mitt Romney. If we cannot accept Mitt Romney, we are going to have to go third party (or accept Obama).

Sarah Palin, definitely.
She CAN handle the job, she won’t buckle under frivolous lawsuits since she won’t need to worry about bankrupting the state of Alaska with legal fees, and she can attract a bigger crowd on an hour’s notice than the next ten conservative hopefuls combined. America loves her and we need her.
Add Allen West as VP and the ticket would be unstoppable.
Question for the informed — Could the convention delegates “abstain” on their first-round votes? I understand that if Romney doesn’t clinch on the first ballot, then the convention is wide open and anything can happen. If we put enough pressure on the delegates, could we convince them to “non-vote” on the first round?
What makes you think we aren’t living in the equivalent of China, Cuba, Venezuela, or Egypt right NOW?
No good alternatives are electable. That’s what happens when you spend decades building an ignorant moocher class that is only concerned about the next free goodies that are promised.
