The Supreme Court did not save us from ourselves, at least not entirely. That is still up to us, the people.
When the American people elected Barack Obama and large Democrat majorities, the die was cast. ObamaCare was coming. Popular or not, constitutional or not, affordable or not, it didn't matter. They were going to pass it, and then the rest of us could find out what they put in it.
After the Democrats shoved the 2700 pages of ObamaCare down our throats -- and we did find out how expensive, controlling, and coercive the legislation was -- a majority of Americans wanted the Supreme Court to toss it aside as unconstitutional.
In a 5-4 decision, the Court did not deem it a legal overreach by the Democrats. While I would have agreed with the minority (Scalia, Alito, Thomas, Kennedy), I respect the decision.
For those of us who originally disagreed with ObamaCare and now disagree with the majority opinion of the SCOTUS, the challenge remains the same as it would have been had the Court ruled otherwise. We need to elect Mitt Romney and House and Senate majorities that will repeal ObamaCare and replace it with free-market, pro-liberty solutions.
In a very real way, the Court just put the responsibility back on the voters to re-establish government of, by, and for the people. In the end, we get the government and policies that go with it that we deserve. So, who will we elect as our representative leaders in November? The importance of this election already historic just grew even greater.
As the nation absorbs and deciphers the SCOTUS ruling on ObamaCare, we thought our readers would find the following excerpts from NRO's analysis insightful. Included is a link to the entire editorial.

Rarely has the maxim that the power to tax is the power to destroy been so apt, a portion of liberty being the direct object in this case.
What the Court has done is not so much to declare the mandate constitutional as to declare that it is not a mandate at all, any more than the mortgage-interest deduction in the tax code is a mandate to buy a house. Congress would almost surely have been within its constitutional powers to tax the uninsured more than the insured. Very few people doubt that it could, for example, create a tax credit for the purchase of insurance, which would have precisely that effect. But Obamacare, as written, does more than that. The law repeatedly speaks in terms of a requirement to buy insurance, it says that individuals shall buy it, and it levies a penalty on those who refuse. As the conservative dissent points out, these are the hallmarks of a regulatory penalty, not a tax.
It now falls to the Republicans, and especially to Mitt Romney, to make the case for the repeal of the law and for its replacement by something better than either it or the health-care policies that preceded it Opponents should take heart: The law remains unpopular. Let the president and his partisans ring their bells today, and let us work to make sure that they are wringing their hands come November. Read more.
Watch it! ;)
Some of them might not realize you are being sarcastic, and they might think you are serious, and a “kindred spirit”.
The media , Obama and liberals have destroyed the U.S. and freedom. I want vengeance if only to see them defeated this November when Obama gets humiliated and defeated.
Ever hear of Howard Phillips? No you likely haven't. He was a key figure in helping Reagan get into office as he was a political activist. Second Question is ever hear of The Moral Majority? Ah that might ring a bell huh? Who were the founders of it? Ever hear of Paul Weyrich? If you haven't I really do doubt you are a Conservative.
It was Phillips, Weyrich, and a Virginia Pastor named Jerry Falwell who founded The Moral Majority. A Grassroots Conservatism group that crossed the party lines and helped give Reagan not one but two huge landslides. Conservatism can and does work when politically it is allowed to exist. Neither the Democratic Party nor the GOP are going to allow any hint of it though. Thus I can not in good conscience support either party and must vote for a Conservative.
Ok I believe that. Now can you tell me then WHY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA BACKED ROMNEY? Because like GW Bush he is as close to Obama as they can get. Romney supports most of the media's agenda and very little of the Conservative agenda.
Whatever you say doesn’t matter to me . I want that Marxist, POS Obama defeated this November . And I will do everything possible to defeat it. I want to see the media , Obama and liberals humiliated. This is the least they deserve.
Obama will turn the U.s.A into south Africa. look at the horrible genocide of whites they are doing in South Africa. The media hides this.
Indeed. Millions of good men have died so that we can ensure 0bama wins this fall.
Principles, people!
My faith says I cannot vote for someone who is pro abortion and pro gay marriage.
That leaves Goode.
My obligation is to support the candidate who is closest to what I believe. If the Republicans want to win they ought to nominate someone who is prolife and a supporter of traditional marriage.
If they lose as a consequence to nominating Romney - my hands are clean. I supported Santorum. Did what I could to get him in.
If you were God, what would you do? But we (conservatives, patriotic, Christians, pro-Americans, pro-life, pro-heterosexual, pro-traditional marriage & values, etc) are not the ones committing abortion genocide or flushing unborn babies down the toilet.
I always hear the same thing from my conservative Baptist church & minister, and I respond in the same way... WE'RE NOT THE ONES DOING IT! SO GOD, PLEASE DON'T PUNISH THOSE OF US WHO ARE TRYING TO FIGHT AGAINST THIS.
I hate to appear sacriligious, but it's kind of hard to fight the good fight, when every RAT bastard judge in American rules 99% of the time against conservatives or Christians, even when we elect conservatives and win some legislative victories, which then are immediately challenged & overruled by evil, secular, tyrannical black robed judges. Personally I am tired of seeing the most evil, despicable, vile people in America or the world, who are prospering & somehow being blessed in unbelieveable ways. Look at Wisconsin? Every legislative victory that has been passed has been shot down one after another by RAT bastard liberal judges. The latest casualty is photo id, which now appears to be held up by an appeals court until sometime (maybe) next year AFTER the Nov election. In fact it was modeled after the Indiana photo id, which SCOTUS ruled in favor of in 2008, but that Supreme Court ruling is simply being ignored by state or federal courts. What about stare decisis precedent being applied by liberal judges in the photo id court challenges?
I don't know.... I hate to appear blasphemous, but I am frustrated by God willing to pardon & save Sodom & Gomorrah if only 10 righteous souls were found, and yet we have millions of faithful, born again Christians in this country who are mocked & scorned & persecuted & derided daily by the media & liberals. And we're losing 99% of the battles.
Quite honestly it is hard for me to imagine any conservative, born again Christian who is willing to enter into politics, knowing that they & their families will be attacked more viciously & evil, than they could possibly ever imagine.
Isaiah 5 warns about evil being called good and good being called evil.... Well then we need some Divine help & intervention to bring down & destroy the evil doers, because right now, we are losing 99% of those battles.
See my post 87.
It applies to you too.
You and others like you are either totally detached from reality, or... as seen in my post 87.. you are supporting Obama and think that the rest of us are all stupid and can’t see that a vote for anyone other than Romney or a non-vote IS a vote for Obama. Remember, the Bush-Gore election: 500 votes made the difference.
God helps those who help themselves. It seems we don’t want to help ourselves — elected Obama and are about to reelect him in the name of “principled conservatism”.
There is joke I heard a long time ago, applicable to this:
Briefly: there is flood, a man gets up to his roof and prays fervently to God to save him. A boat comes by, offers to help him, he refuses because “God will save me”. Later another boat and a helicopter come by, as the waters continue to rise, he refuses help from them, waiting “for God to save him”. Eventually the waters rise more, the man drowns. Since he was a devout Christian he ends up in heaven.
There he asks God — “I prayed to you and you didn’t save me”.
God’s answer: “Who did you think sent you the boats and the helicopter?!”
Now we have a clear choice — Romney is a business man, effective and will turn the US around, given a chance. The ONLY other choice is a second term for Obama.
Trying to blame God for the consequences of your stupid decisions is no different than the man in the story above.
And replace him with what? Another Marxist. Who invented Obamacare? Who was the Republican Governor who set the exact same thing in place in his state in his term as governor?
As for South Africa? WRONG!!!!!! There is a very distinct advantage that WE THE PEOPLE have Africa doesn't which would stop any action such as that cold. You do own a firearm don't you? Well don't you? But not to worry under Romney the tax and spend liberal we'll simply end up like France or Greece.
Pick Romney now, then vote for someone else next time.
We’ve seen what Obama does, and it is ALL BAD.
Pick the alternative.
Not the same at all.
At all.
However you’re bought in, already. So do your stuff.
“You and others like you are either totally detached from reality, or... as seen in my post 87.. you are supporting Obama and think that the rest of us are all stupid and cant see that a vote for anyone other than Romney or a non-vote IS a vote for Obama. Yes, I remember that.
Bush is prolife and supports traditional marriage.
“I know Dubya and you sir, are no Dubya”.
The republican party wants fight with a pro abort and a pro sodomy president - they fight without me.
“a vote for anyone other than Romney or a non-vote IS a vote for Obama”
A vote for Romney is a vote FOR Romneycare. Plain and simple. A vote for Obama is a vote for Obamacare.
A vote for Goode rejects both Romneycare and Obamacare. My responsibility is to vote for the only one representing me.
You’ll be held responsible for your own vote and your collaboration with Romney if you vote for him. Are you really going to be able to explain to HIM at the end of everything that “he was the lesser evil”.
As long as this nation continues it's open rebellion to GOD including supporting Homosexulaity and other wrongs {which Romney does, which Bushes did, which Clinton did, which Obama does, which Carter did, which Ford did, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, and now who's name is missing from the above? It is Ronald Reagan.
When Reagan was elected our nation for a brief period changed it's moral standards and turned towards GOD for healing and as a result we got a leader that reflected that change and our nation prospered greatly in all aspects.
GOD only helps nations when their heart is not in rebellion to Him and His Word. Until that changes there will be no change.
Two Choices left for U.S. One Nation Under GOD or One Nation Under Judgment? Which one say ye?. As for me and my family our vote will directly reflect our faith and our conscience. To do otherwise is wrong.
I just think these anti-romney spammers who spam this board 24/7 are democrats/marxists. I will just try to ignore them as much as I can. Yes I will vote for Romney so that Obama and the media are humiliated this November. I will crawl over glass to do this and all the spam these democrats post here only makes me madder. I think they are the ones who slow freeepublic servers down the spamming posts , many with images, are so numerous lol. Obama must pay them well!
