GOP senators are putting the pressure on Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special counsel to investigate whether the White House is responsible for national security leaks.
“The numerous national security leaks reportedly originating out of the executive branch in recent months have been stunning,” according to a copy of the letter to Holder, signed by more than 30 GOP senators and obtained by Fox News. “If there were ever a case requiring an outside special counsel with bipartisan acceptance and widespread public trust, this is it.”
Among the concerns about the leaks are recent news reports regarding the United State’s drone attacks in the Middle East.
Their letter points out the recent New York Times story about the drone program and its list of human targets states the reporting involved interviews with "three dozen of [President Obama's] current and former advisers."
It suggests that Thomas Donilon, the national security adviser, is a likely source, in part because he was frequently cited in David Sanger’s book "Confront and Conceal."
“Mr. Donilon, in effect, is the hero of the book, as well as the commenter of record on events," wrote reviewer Tom Ricks.
The administration has strongly denied the leaks have come from the executive office.

“The notion that my White House would purposely release classified national security information is offensive. It’s wrong,” President Obama said earlier this month.
The letter to Holder comes the same week the GOP-led House is expected to vote on whether to hold him in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with subpoena requests to provide more documents regarding the Justice Department’s failed Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation.
The letter also states Holder’s decision to appoint two U.S. attorneys to investigate the apparent national security leaks doesn’t go far enough.
“You have an important role as a member of the president’s national security team, and no administration should be expected to investigate itself impartially on such a grave and sensitive matter in the midst of an election,” states the letter signed by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
“This administration cannot be trusted to investigate itself,” Sen John Cornyn, R-Texas, said during a Capitol Hill press conference Tuesday. “You cannot investigate yourself and not have a conflict of interest.”

Come on already, a major part of the reason the admin gets away with this stuff is the total lack of an opposition party.
The longer they been in D.C., the less between the legs.
They need to do this every day, keep bringing it up, don’t let the matter drop.

It’s easy to understand Eric Holder when you realize why he was chosen. His job is to insulate the president and to make sure Obama is re-elected in November by any means necessary.
He’s useless otherwise.
Not just the “Fast and Furious” cover-up, but now what is a very serious breach of national security coming from the inner circle of the White Hut.
And with a forthcoming rendition of the constitutionality of Obamacare, plus the stated objective to enforce laws on a selective basis as related to illegal aliens, it is hard to believe they can keep so many balls in the air at a time.
The month of June has been so very good for the now failing obama regime.

Amen to everything you said!!! The ones who would call them racist for criticizing BHO wouldn’t vote for them regardless. Yes, America IS desperate for courageous politicians who love their country. These people swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and we have serious enemies within, most of whom are in our White House.
The presser today with some of the Repubs was good as far as it went, but they ALL need to be talking about this on the House floor with formal discussion on official record about taking action against this regime and their jeopardizing our national security through criminal leaks.
Yeah this important all right. But I am more interested in proescuting those responsible for F and F and seeing people go to jail.
Holder is going to be cited for contempt of Congress, and Obama has no interest in exposing the leakers.

This must be investigated and prosecuted. My outrage has NOTHING to do with politics and I would feel the same way if this had happened even once under Bush. The damage these continuous leaks have done go far beyond any other scandal in this administration.
These leaks have damaged our national security and eroded relationships with our allies. These leaks betray those who help us at great risks and those who fight the covert war on our behalf. These leaks demonstrate to our allies and best friends that we are not to be trusted. These leaks aid the efforts of our enemies to hurt us.
It takes many years, much blood, and many dedicated people to build the relationships that keep our nation safe. It takes billions of dollars too. These operations were among the most secret operations we have and somebody passed it to the NY Slimes.
I don’t recall this type of behavior when Clinton was in, though maybe they are scared since Clinton was impeached and seemed to grow more popular because of the “persecution?”
Obama and his minions may be offended, but the real issue is the story’s veracity, not whether or not His Satanic Majesty was offended or not..
