I think the Justices have telegraphed the results. Here's why.

Intrade provides an emotional hedge.

If I can’t stand the thought of Obamacare being upheld, then I bet that it will be overturned. If it’s upheld, I get what I want but I lose money. Conversely, if I can’t stand the thought of Obamacare being overturned, then I bet it will be upheld. If it’s overturned, I get what I want but I lose money.

It takes the edge off winning, as well as losing.

That scenario seems likely to me as well.

I’m not going to try to convince you otherwise.

I’m going to remind you that the Supreme Court ruled that reverse-discrimination is just fine...nothing wrong with it at all.

Don’t trust anything you hear until it is from the Supreme Court and be prepared to be disappointed.

I feel that many of their rulings are strictly to avoid civil war or even a race war...to appease those who need appeasing.

Obama will lose the election if the Supreme Court upholds the mandate because the majority of Americans will be extremely angry about it. If the court throws the mandate out, Obama might just win the election because the silent majority will relax and not vote in November.

Which outcome do you prefer? 4 more years of BHO and no healthcare mandate, or a BHO loss and the Romney mandate?

Its hard to bite the hand that not only feeds you but picked you for the job. The very idea that the Federal Employees in black robes could or would uphold their own Constitutional(limited) Government is laughable to say the least.

They were not hand picked by impartial parties, they were not ratified by impartial parties, their position as arbitrars of federal law does not render them any self-interest in limited federal power.

Essentially what those who claim the Federal court is the only one who can enforce the Federal Constitution are depending upon is a fantastic level of magnanimity that has only rarely been displayed.

Okie1 gave me this answer the other day, seems likely.

Give the Democrats credit where credit is due. They found a way to hold future Congresses to the actions of a present Congress — which is supposed to be not possible.

Having passed Obamacare, they recognized they were going to lose the House in 2010 — and, with that, control of the pursestrings.
So, puzzlingly, they failed to pass a FY 2010 budget. And, subsequently, the Democrat Senate has failed to pass a FY 2011 and 2012 budget. Nor will they pass a FY 2013 budget. All of this is intentional.
Consequently, FY 2009 spending (importantly, including Porkulus) has been locked in place since October, 2010 — with a generous (and automatic) annual escalator, thanks to the wonders of Jimmy Carter’s baseline budgeting.
As the time of its passage, the Democrat House and Senate were careful to not only appropriate but authorize funds for the implementation of Obamacare — through its full-scale implementation in 2014. The House is unable to simnply “defund” this implementation...unless the Democrat Senate agrees.
Which they won’t.
The only control that the GOP House has on spending is the debt limit — which controls overall spending, but does not prioritize it. And, of course, they have entered every negotiation with the codicil that they will not shut down the government to achieve their aims.
Under these circumstances, they can cut some spending by some amount — but never in an area that the Democrats are not agreeable to.

Net:net, there is no practical way to defund Obamacare until a new administration takes office — affording a Senate that will approve a repeal bill and a President that will sign one.

I know it’s fun to hate the wimpy Republicans. But you should at least hate them for the right reasons...

Ill just say if our freedom is depended upon 9 federal employees in black robes I would not bet on us remaining free.

I don’t believe that, I believe we can nully their usurpation, and the usurpation of their employers. But to do that will require that we arm & prepare ourselves for a fight. While simultaneously mauvering what little influence we have into disarming them of the critical means to win that fight.(IE defending the Federal army & air-force).

We have the position and power to do theses things due to the ideological mistakes, Nativity, & positions of our enemy. We need merely to have our compatriots see the necessary and gain the fortitude to carry out what must be done to overturn this government which has become the symbol of oppression.

To let the flame of liberty that exist somewhere in the heart of every man grow into fires of revolution!

Without the mandate the law is meaningless, and they know that or they wouldn’t had risked putting in the mandate in the first place.

So you think Ginsberg is actually going to vote against the mandate

A dissent is an opinion written by the justices in the minority. But, I just realized that I may mistaken about her position with regard to the mandate by upholding the constitution instead of practicing judicial activism as I would expect. "Chopping off the head of broccoli" as it were. If she was against it and dissented with the minority it would mean it mandate had been upheld. Oh, dear....

Does anyone here even still believe there are going to BE November elections?

Sure...a lot on here do. I know I do. But I do also know the possibilities of something heinous happening are there as well.

Just wait and see. Nothing much we can do at this point.

"December 1940 says “Hello” and September 1862 is waving, too! "

What do those dates signify?

Being curious, I went looking.

September 1862 is when they fought the Battle of Antietam in the Civil War. It is also the month the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation was given.

December 1940 was when the London Blitz happened. It is also the month that Roosevelt made his "Arsenal of Freedom" speech about coming to the aid of Great Britain.

Unless the original poster had something else in mind, those seem to be the most significant things I could find.

Even if they uphold it and then Romney waivers it, a very dangerous precedent is set.
