One school employee union in Michigan is demanding that members turn over bank account and credit card information so that the union can automatically claim monthly dues after the state voted to stop deducting the money on behalf of the union.
Debbie Bence, president of the Plymouth-Canton Cafeteria Association, sent a letter to her union members on June 4 stating that the dues had to be paid as a condition of employment, the Capitol Confidential (Mich.) reports. Members can also pay dues in full at the beginning of the year.
Her demand came after the Michigan Supreme Court found that the states practice of automatically deducting dues on behalf of the unions political action committee violated campaign finance laws; the state legislature also passed a bill ending the automatic deduction of union dues that is under contention in federal court.
In Wisconsin, the state AFL-CIO lost over half its members after Gov. Scott Walker, R, and the state legislature ended the automatic deduction of dues from worker paychecks. Bences union chapter is part of the Michigan Education Association, one of the most powerful education unions in the country.

The Nigerian doesn't break your legs if you say no.
LOL!!...........
Wiley bastids.
Kind of like those ads on tv that promise you for free one whatever it may be; then keep sending you the product and charging your credit card.
Given that in Wisconin, 55% of AFSCME members have dropped out of the union, and an estimated 40% of Wisconsin teachers have left the union ( the union will NOT release the actual numbers) we can assume that the same percentages will apply in Michigan.
Hence, if the union pushes his, expect to see a petition my many members for a decertification vote. The mystique that the union is beloved by its membership will be forever dispelled.
The Nigerian is much more respectfull...
“Dear Honorable Sir,
Your respected reputation has brought you to my humble attention...”
What is the real difference between this union and a guy with a computer in Nigeria asking for your bank and credit card info?..............
1. The Nigerian doesn't break your legs if you say no.
2. The Nigerian is much more respectfull... Dear Honorable Sir, Your respected reputation has brought you to my humble attention...
“Youre right, it does sound like EXTORTION, but if the cafeteria association is union then you pay or you dont work. The Teamsters did it to me and I had no choice but to join the union at the company I was working for.”
Am I understanding this right? Are closed shops still legal in the US? They were abolished 30 years ago here in the UK.
NB - closed shop is the British term for an employer where union membership is mandatory.
The same term is used here. Whether they are legal is determined by state law. Right now 23 states do not allow closed shops and 27 states do allow them.

The states marked in blue are where closed shops are illegal.

What about the dust up by libs because of those poor folk who cannot even be bothered to obtain a photo ID?
Oh the humanity! /s
Not just NO! but “He!! NO”!!
Never, NEVER give a rogue organization personal information.
Really? If someone has my credit card number, they can look into my account? When did this start? Are there programs out there that allow vendors to track my other expenditures? Not that I don’t believe it, I just hope not.
Next they will be placing leins on homes.
I’m no expert, but I would think that with your account # and SS# the federal government would be able to access that information. I put nothing past these people. Unions themselves might not be able to on their own, but with the covering of Obama and Holder’s DOJ, anything is possible.
3. The Nigerian was willing to meet with 20/20.
I live in OHIO. We are not a right to work state so closed shops are legal. SUCKS!
I love it when they feed on their own.
