Bruce McPherson said Tuesday he is dropping his GOP party affiliation and listing no preference, joining a growing bloc of California voters who've renounced party identification...

An abortion rights supporter who's willing to discuss new taxes, McPherson was known as a moderate during his 11 years in the Legislature. During the years, he has endorsed local Democrats such as Fred Keeley, Henry Mello and Sam Farr.

McPherson said he did not consider registering as a Democrat.
"No, because I think the far left of the Democrats is in the same situation as the far right of the Republican Party," McPherson said. "You just have to find a mean. I don't think anybody can find a politician who has been identified as a moderate more than Bruce McPherson."

Had McPherson won the full term for the Sec of State race in 2006, odds are that Ah-nold would’ve cleared the primary for him for Governor in 2010. Wow... just look at the RINO success in CA. Ah-nold, Maldonado, this guy... with RINOs like these, who needs Democrats ?
Ah, you know the old GOP establishment script:
Conservative loses Democrat dominated state by 0.5% - 2% of the vote = PROOF that conservatives CANNOT win
RINO loses Democrat dominated state by 4% - 25% of the vote = So what?
And I bet all the RINO apologists who ridiculed the idea that McPherson and his ilk would ever defect to the RAT party are silent now. How convenient.
I’d “support” the democrat in the runoff. “Non-partisan” liberals are even worse than democrats most of the time.
