A GOP senator on the short list to be Mitt Romney's running mate is applauding President Obama's move to forgo deportations for some illegal immigrants.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said the more lenient policy is "welcome news" for those immigrants who will benefit, though he was quick to knock the administration for acting unilaterally.
Todays announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short term answer to a long term problem," the Cuban-American Rubio said in a statement. "And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long term one.
Rubio's comments are a stark contrast to those coming from other Republicans, who are blasting the new rules as a threat to U.S. jobs and possibly illegal.
Rubio's remarks also further complicate the position of GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, who took a hard conservative stance against illegal immigrants amid the heat of the GOP primary but is now searching for ways to soften that stance in order to appeal to Hispanic voters, who will be vital in a number of swing states.

Rube will be Willard’s VP pick..wait and see.
where is congress?
Don't interrupt the glass chewers, it's been a bad week for them, with Mittens ahead in MI & WI...
Actually, exactly the other way around. Mittens nullfies any political advantage Bobo hopes to gain unconstitutionally green-lighting illegals, by taking Rubio as VP -- and then Rubio goes around to the Hispanic barrios and says, 'You want to get things done?! Vote this mayate out.'
And then of course there's this...
"Florida Sen.-elect Marco Rubio announced his top staff, which included three former Romney campaign hands. Sally Canfield, who served as Romney's policy adviser, will be Rubio's legislative director and chief policy adviser; Joe Pounder, who was in charge of rapid response for Romney, will be Rubio's communications director; and Alex Burgos, who directed specialty media for Romney, will serve as director of media affairs for Rubio." -- RCP/Time, Jan. 4, 2011"
I guess if your parents gave you a car, which they, (unbeknownst to you), have stolen, then you get to keep the car since you need it to get to work or the grocery store, etc.
Okay...the content of the article is about Rubio ripping Obama’s actions as illegal and counterproductive, and the headline writer wrote it as though he was endorsing what Obama did. And apparently many on this thread read only the headline...
You are the first person on here after reading post after post that actually demonstrates literacy. Post after post of people blasting Rubio alleging he said exactly the opposite of what he said.

So Rubio himself calls it unconstitutional / illegal, and the author of the piece follows it up by saying it contrasts with other Republicans who called it illegal?
this ticket is starting to smell bad. I have decided to take the number of hours that Romney takes to rebuke this unconstitutional act in my getting to the polls. Romney your silence is hurting you badly.
Deport Rubio!!!!!
It was tinfoil forty years ago when you read about it but didn't see any evidence to support it.
It's no longer tinfoil when the evidence is more than abundant.
I will vote libertarian if Romney picks this guy for vp.
Understanding Rubio's history about immigration reform and amnesty, and that he is formulating the Republican plan for the "new Dream Act," I don't have much doubt that it is an inclusive statement where he supports 'those kid's' viewpoint by surreptitiously speaking about himself in the third person.
Not to the 20% of Americans who are under or unemployed.
The use of the term “undocumented “ is in itself unacceptable and proofvthat this busybody twerp lawyer is an opportunist douchebag who will do anything to stay in DC
Good luck with that loon Gary Johnson, who supports basically the same thing as Bobo with an open guest worker program and two years of a 'grace period' to come forward and claim that guest worker status without fear of being deported. Two years -- sh!t you could walk in from Panama in two weeks...hello government check!

Some American-American, please introduce Senor Rubio to the American constitution and explain the separation of powers.
