At this moment, people in Osaka and Kobe are tweeting the color of Osaka bay looks strange.
From the picture, it looks pale yellow.
From local citizens, it became strange color before The great Hanshin earthquake (1995) as well. They might need to stay informed just in case.

If it contained sulphur coming from underwater vents there should be a smell. Or could it be plankton related? Those poor folks don’t need anything else to worry about.

Yellow means some kind of sulfur compound. I have a dim recollection that the amount of sulfur dioxide in the air shows some correlation with an impending earthquake.

It’s probably cleaner than Boston or the Chesapeake.. ;-)
That whole area being so seismically active gets manifested in all kinds of ways..

Not to worry. They refer to white folks as "corpse or maggot white'.
The Chinese refer to the Japanese as "evil dwarves". They also call us "foreign devils".
Still, the Chinese have an official character for the Japanese but i'm not sure they have one for us. Might be wise to find out if they respect us yet!

Certainly would be interesting if this was some kind of forewarning; it makes me wonder what on Earth is causing it? It'll be interesting to see what the chemical analysis shows, if anything. I'm no chemist or geologist, but when I hear that some natural phenomenon has a yellowish color, I immediately think sulfur, but not gaseous sulfur since no one is reporting any funny odors.
It's a subduction zone so things are being carried down, not up, right? Unless there is some kind of venting taking place, as perhaps, say, an underwater geyser. I doubt it's underwater volcanic activity of some long inactive volcano since volcanoes often are preceded with tremors. But everything I'm saying is useless! Just free associating, thinking out loud, stream of consciousness stuff. Useless.

I’m expecting Seattle to get their 9.0 magnitude EQ any time now. Last one was in 1700 AD and is overdue.
Maybe Gojira will show up next there! Could be the next hit for Japanese movies.
