In Case You Don't Like Romney...
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election
If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, Id just ask you to keep four things in mind:
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.
Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you dont think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think youre smokin something funky .
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didnt get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:
'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'
Did that get your attention!
No you won't!
You will make the exact same calculation as you did this time which is: The Dem guy is worse, so we must support the Republican, no matter how much he has spat on us. You will once again put expedience over what you claim are your principles and capitulate.
Any other conclusion is either a pipe dream or a lie.
Romney owns you, and the other Romney supporters on this site and he knows it, even if you fail to realize it.
My guess is you will spend the balance of your life capitulating to the "lesser of two evils" and never stand up for what you claim are your principles because the GOP establishment knows exactly how to play you.
The irony is even after you have capitulated to the lesser of two evils and supported evil, you will still complain about liberals and the liberal agenda, In my mind, you have forfeited any right to complain if you actively supported the liberal in the first place.
OH???
I'm praying that the Almighty vanquish Mitt Romney before this November...
There are a lot of things not to like about Romney, I am not championing him at all. What ever your list, it comes down to this: we have a full blown radical leftist disaster in this administration right now. It is truly radical all the way through. In comparison to Romney, and this is on his most liberal of issues, this administration is like night and day even to a liberal RINO squish like him. you name it, Bambi will trump him in spades. It is the most destructive to all of our thinking and all the things we love administration ever. Almost every appointee is doing destruction, every czar, cabinet member, aide, and tiny appointee is undermining everything we love every single day.
Every day we get up with him in office, we read about something new and horrible, good grief, it's hard to even think of the stuff we don't know about. It truly is beyond anything we have ever seen before.
It's in this light, knowing what we have, knowing that keeping him and his minions in office will be a disaster to our country and what we all believe in that we must remove him from office. Unfortunately, in realville (Rush's term), that means someone has to get voted in to vote him out, and that person is not going to be Virgil Goode, and it's not Tom whatshisname. That's not happening, and if this thing is close, supporting candidates like them can give us the disaster of Bambi once again, also it can make it much harder to get a more conservative house and senate.
There you have it, we either leave the most radical and destructive admin ever in office, or vote them out.
To say they are the same as Romney is delusional, as much of a liberal RINO squish Mitt is, it's still night and day. Every candidate we have supported on FR has come to this same conclusion, Palin, Perry, Cain, Newt, Santorum, heck even Ron Paul's son. I'll stand with them, it's a no brainer.
Joseph Smith; Jr. SHOULD have said, "I lie!"
I can. Happens to us all; especially with words that SOUND the same, but are spelled (spelt?) differently.
It stings a bit to be shown you goofed, but for me, when I get over it, I realized I’ve just learned one more thing.
Welcome to MORMONism 101
While we are waiting to start; enjoy the artwork on our walls.
If some of it seems shifty to you, just look at it real closely
and it will stop moving, but another location will then start to crawl on you.
Do NOT think our DOCTRINE is this way!
And in 4/8 years when the next liberal/RINO is the GOP candidate? Then what? Elect him too? And the next?
At what point exactly is it a good time to elect a conservative, or as it stands, just say no to another slap in the face?
The whole problem of dealing with Obama is an easy one to solve. Congress has 8 million ways of stopping each and every one of his programs cold. All his Czars, all his evil. But they will not. If they would do their damn jobs and follow their own damn platform/rules, Obama would have done or could do in the future, absolutely nothing.
Bohner is a coward that cares more for the Dems than his own party. As are most Republicans today. If I’m wrong, I’d love to see the proof of it. When he RARELY does something right, it’s after massive blowback. The man has no initiave, no sense of leadership and no moral compass. Same for Lord Lindsey and the rest of the GOP misleadership.
So if he won’t stop Obama, what makes you think he’s fight Romney when the lib judge nominations begin? Because his history is one of appointing them. Or his gay marriage crap? Same there. Or his Global Warming crap? Same there. Or any of a thousand other 100% liberal actions.
As I said, we must vote as we see fit. But I maintain that there is no way for a conservative to vote for a liberal and claim he holds to conservatism. It is not logically possible and it flies in the face of common sense to say otherwise.
And it doesn’t matter one Iota who does it. You, me, Palin, Gingrich or Ronald Reagan were he alive to do so.
To vote for a man whose actions and stated beliefs (etch a sketch BS not withstanding) is to deny the very core of a belief in conservative thought, word and deed. There is no other way around that. It’s no different than if Washington had ‘compromised with King George. When you believe in something, you do not abandon it when crap gets rough. You stand firm and fight the bastards.
No one ever said it wouldn’t be painful. But you stand for what is right or you don’t. Wars are not won through compromise. Leaders do not lead through abandoning the game plan mid encounter. But you do what you gotta do. I’ll have no problem looking in the mirror when Romney reverts to type and takes his own path wrecking the joint, Because it will not be me that helped him do it.
Lake, I cannot support Romney or vote for him. It would violate my relationship with God to vote for an anti-life, pro-gay candidate of any stripe, and that is both Romney and Obama.
Goode is right on those things and many others. He is the conservative candidate in the race, so he’s the one getting my vote.
Any conservative up and down the ticket will get my vote. Not one pro-gay, anti-life candidate will get it, and that includes dogcatcher.
An anti-life, pro-gay president means America has told God to get lost.
I appreciate the discussion, and considering we likely share 95%+ of the same values, we'll likely agree next time.
Another thing for certain is you can allow the current admin and it's destructive radical leftist polices to reign another four years, or you can vote them out.
To assign voting out the most radical left wing admin ever as "not conservative" takes a lot of illogical thinking on your part. You might want to think about that for a while. You are in essence saying that now that you have the perfect logical conclusions, every conservative candidate you have supported is illogical, and that's simply not true.
Lake, You need to explain to me how a conservative, or one holding conservative values can vote for a liberal without abandoning them. Until then The only person acting or thinking illogically is the person who would.
That was a gracious post, Lake. Thank you.
And, yes, I do understand your point of view. I was able to go there with McCain because he was pro-life, pro-Defense, and unwilling to endorse the homosexual agenda.
Romney, though, is a horse of a different color.
Like Betty Boop, you have a sliver of hope that somehow America will survive Romney’s liberalism better than it will Obama’s, and that because Romney purports to care about America while Obama does not.
Here’s hoping you are right and that a Romney vote is just kicking the can down the road with the least damage to America.
My concern is (1) That America is snubbing God, (2) That the damage will be as bad but in a different area, and (3) That there must be some remnant standing for God to forestall judgement when most of America stands guilty of voting against the morality of God.
WOW!!
CHILLING!
All the people listed said they’d vote for whoever was nominated, I said I’d vote for a conservative.
I do not suffer from BHOhysteria.
