In Case You Don't Like Romney...
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election
If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, Id just ask you to keep four things in mind:
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.
Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you dont think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think youre smokin something funky .
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didnt get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:
'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'
Did that get your attention!
The breakaway LDS Sect of mormonism has an organization that compiles lists of and monitors apostates and critics. I cannot recall the name....Any help ?
Have you read “The Harbinger” ?
Nope. Just heard of it today. What’s it about?
Read "The Harbinger", God has clearly and shockingly signalled our national place in this decision making timeline, and what soon follows.
I think you are talking about the "strengthening the membership committee".
""1. It exists and operates today, right now.
"2. It monitors members who it perceives as not towing the line to the extent their behaviour may affect others.
"3. It is secretive and shadowy.
"4. It's activities are such that senior Church leaders are uncomfortable talking about it and would be, initially, prepared to lie about it's existence and purpose."
See post 488. I watched a recent Youtube video where LDS sect leaders acknowledge it’s existence. I have heard in places like Utah, Idaho and Colorado this group works to insure that “apostates cannot get a decent job and that thier businesses are passed over by the church subsidiaries and members alike.
Altura, that you perceive our reasons for refusing to vote for Romney as based on "rabid hatred" says a whole helluva lot more about YOU than it does about us.
I don't know about the rest of the well over seven dozen FReepers on the list so far of folks who refuse to vote for Romney for the same reasons they refuse to vote for Obama --- but for for ME, hate has precisely zero, BIG FAT DONUT HOLE, to do with it.
In fact, there is one FReeper -- I almost added her to the list until I read further -- who declares an open hatred of Romney, but she plans on voting for him because of "hating" Obama more.
Accusing folks who rejected him of "hatred" was absolutely STANDARD BEHAVIOR of true-blue Romney supporters back in 2007-08 right here on Free Republic. I haven't done it, but I have a hunch that if anyone took the time to go back "in forum" on Altura's posts for 2007-08, they'd find that Altura was accusing people even back then of rejecting Romney because of "rabid hatred."
As true now as it was back then: the behavior of Romney supporters speaks volumes about their candidate.
Ah, I see. Cahn seems to be someone like a Zola Levitt who writes like a Dan Brown. Is that a fair assessment?
WND.com also has it in video form called "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement"...But I recommend the book.
++How many members are there currently on Free Republic? Anybody know?+++
PLEASE add me to your enemies list.
Let me give you hint.
I'll bet you didn't know that New York City was our nation's first capitol. Immediately after being sworn in, George Washington led the entire US Congress to a small chapel near a protective wall in Manhattan, knelt in humble prayer on the lot of the chapel, and dedicated the country to God. He made a national covenant with God on that day, and gave a dire warning that if the country ever turned from God the covenant would become our curse.
The wall which offered protection from pirates which allowed local business to flourish near where Washington knelt, became Wall Street. The very spot Washington knelt, is where the Twin Towers were eventually built. The chapel still stands. It is now owned by a liberal group of churches, and it's basement is the national headquarters of the OWS movement. The chapel was protected from destruction on 9/11 by an ancient Sycamore tree, which was destroyed by flying rubble. It was replaced by a cedar. A hewn stone was laid as the foundation of the new freedom tower, and national leaders read Isaiah 9:10 exactly in the way Ancient Israel's leaders did, as an act of defiance, rather than repentance.
This was just part of our FIRST warning, THERE HAVE BEEN TWO.
Read "The Harbinger".
But most are more sensible than that. Don't look now, but your hysteria is showing.
I can hardly make it any clearer than this: for me, the object is to register the presidential vote for anybody BUT Obama and anybody BUT Romney, even though -- actually BECAUSE -- one of them is pretty much guaranteed to win. I hope and pray sensible people vote third party for the express purpose of making it so that, when the dust clears, the amoral authoritarian statist president we end up with will have to face a nation where conservatives are stronger than ever in Congress and where two out of every three voting Americans voted AGAINST him.
It would be easier to reach that goal if there WAS a Perot in this race, and there may be one yet. But "the Ross Perot in this race" isn't really necessary. All that is necessary is for conservatives and Republicans to heed their better jugment, listen to their gut, and avoid Romney like the plague. You must think pretty lowly of all the "conservative Young Bloods" we are hoping to see increase so powerfully in Congress, if you think they couldn't be a serious obstacle to Obama if he got re-elected. You act as if with Obama, "resistence is useless." If you have so little faith in the new conservatives the Tea Partiers are working to get elected to Congress, don't you figure they'd roll over even quicker to liberal Romney, since he's the defacto leader of the Republican party? How on earth do you rationalize that they would fight Romney at all, if you think they wouldn't be able to check Obama?
Voting to weaken the victor's mandate is the only way we can give all those conservatives we voted for down-ticket the chance to see a weak, defensive statist president whom they can DOMINATE.
Your false mantra is to claim that refusing to vote for Romney "helps" Obama. Here's the truth: whether you mean to or not, voting FOR Romney is helping liberal statism. There's only one way to avoid doing that -- vote for SOMEBODY ELSE and let the chips fall where they may. Our Founders designed a pretty good system for voters. LET IT DO ITS WORK.
It's like this: ABO is founded in fear and touched with hysteria. Fear and hysteria lead to bad moves and mistakes, and have pretty much since Adam. That is a HUGE WARNING SIGN that ABO is bad strategy.
BBQ, and list just continues to grow

Thanks for the synopsis and suggestion. Sounds like David Wilkerson meets Left Behind kind of book.
When I was a younger man, I read everything like that I could find: Velikovsky, Ouspensky, the E.R.Eddison books...but that was in the early and mid sixties and didn’t really help me much in life.
Now, my mindset is different than it was then and I just cannot seem to get as interested in most of the current religious books. A decent English translation of the Bible seems adequate these days to peak my interest, repeatedly. And lurking on FR for other interesting stuff, of course.
And yes, I was reminded about our Nation’s first Capitol and how steadfast a Christian George Washington was, while teaching my children American History in the middle and high school grades.
Also, lets see what happens when we all follow your noble logic:
We all make our personal stands. We vote for or even write in our perfect candidate (AND LETS NOT WAIT! LETS DO IT THIS ELECTION) for every possible position. For a fact, do you know what wed have in 2013? NOT ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN ELECTED! Every single Republican running has something in their past that some voter could consider of the devil. (I wanted Herman Cain, then Newt. You dont think I couldve used your logic to eliminate them as men I could vote for based on things in their past?)So not one single Republican would get enough votes to beat their democratic opponent. Great!/S. Wed be left with 100% democrats, most of them actually Marxists or worse. But lets do it. Thatll showem, huh?
Excellent post and I agree completely. If their preferred candidate didn't get the nomination, they will vote for him anyway, even if their wasted vote means that Obama wins. The others are of the ABR (Anyone But Romney) mindset. They would rather see Obama win than Romney, so they plan to vote for someone with no chance of winning. To me, it's the worst kind of selfishness to deliberately allow Obama to win by wasting a vote. It's like the folks who voted for Ross Perot and allowed Klintoon to win. Thanks for nothing.
If Mitt Romney selects Sarah Palin as his running mate, I'll bet some of these folks with unassailable moral fiber will suddenly start singing a different tune. And on the topic of abortion, I wonder if anyone has seen this page:
Mitt Romney is pro-life. He believes it speaks well of the country that almost all Americans recognize that abortion is a problem. And in the quiet of conscience, people of both political parties know that more than a million abortions a year cannot be squared with the good heart of America.
Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade a case of blatant judicial activism that took a decision that should be left to the people and placed it in the hands of unelected judges. With Roe overturned, states will be empowered through the democratic process to determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate.
Mitt supports the Hyde Amendment, which broadly bars the use of federal funds for abortions. As president, he will end federal funding for abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood. He will protect the right of health care workers to follow their conscience in their work. And he will nominate judges who know the difference between personal opinion and the law.
Because the good heart of America knows no boundaries, a commitment to protecting life should not stop at the waters edge. Taking innocent life is always wrong and always tragic, wherever it happens. The compassionate instincts of this country should not be silent in the face of injustices like Chinas One-Child policy. No one will ever hear a President Romney or his vice president tell the Chinese government that "I fully understand" and wont second guess compulsory sterilization and forced abortion.
Americans have a moral duty to uphold the sanctity of life and protect the weakest, most vulnerable and most innocent among us. As president, Mitt will ensure that American laws reflect Americas values of preserving life at home and abroad.
Maybe I'm missing an important detail, but that sounds fairly clear to me. He says he is pro-life and wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. Which makes sense - the feds have no business making any rulings about abortion.
Volumes of empty rhetoric. Here’s a very simple question I’d bet a dollar you sidestep with more hollow words:
Sounds like you at least acknowledge that either Romney or Obama will be the next president. You wake up the day after the election and turn on the news, who do YOU PREFER (even if it’s by a 0.000001% difference) they say is our next president? Mitt Romney or Barack Obama?
Since you pinged ALL...
If that were the only choice, Romney or Obama, your trick question to force a desired response might be valid. But, those two candidates are not the only candidates that I may select. So, your setup question is rejected on grounds of dishonesty.
