In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper

In Case You Don't Like Romney...
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election
If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, Id just ask you to keep four things in mind:
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.
Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you dont think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think youre smokin something funky
.
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didnt get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:
'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'
Did that get your attention!

No, I am saying more conservative vs more liberal. We didn’t get the canidate we wanted. We lost the primary battle, but let’s not help elect Obama because of it.

If you're going to vote for President but you're not going to vote for Romney, do us all a favor and stay home. A vanity vote is just a meaningless gesture that makes all of us look bad.
Thank you for posting such a meaningless post showing the lack of principle of many of those who are ABO to the exclusion of considering Mitt's record.
A record, mind you, that has been posted over and over here on FreeRepublic confirming for those of us that are not POP (Party over Principle) that a vote for an amoral man like Mitt Romney, is a wasted vote.
"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan
"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792
"God commands you to choose for rulers, just men who will rule in the fear of God." - Noah Webster (1758-1843) Father of the Dictionary & American Patriot
"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." - John Quincy Adams, (1767-1848) 6th President of the United States
"It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime." - Thomas Paine (1736-1809) Patriot, Author & Pamphleteer

You actually think the people here who are trying to warn and point out the risks of ABO, are
trolls?
Are you familiar with that guy, um ... what is it, Jim Thompson? I guess he's about the biggest troll of them all, then.
By my count so far, there are well over six dozen individual FReepers who refuse to commit Romney by ABO. They are FReepers who "flock" to posts on all kinds of subjects; many have been FReeping for ten years and more.
Trolls. *rolls eyes*

Huh? Abortion is the first topic on the page ... because it starts with the letter "A". Keep reading and you'll find "civil rights", "corporations", "crime", "drugs", "education", "energy and oil", "environment" ... etc ... and that is just through the letter "E". Make no mistake that abortion is hot button issue for me. I abhor candidates that think it's okay to murder unborn children. But the topic of abortion is only a tiny fraction of the information available on that page. It is a bit unseemly that you would focus in on it like that. You ask if I can respect anything else on the table. The page I sent you is a mighty big table and I respect the vast majority of Goode's positions on all of it. Did you read past abortion?

"We" aren't helping elect Obama, the GOP is by running a liberal candidate. Maybe they should rethink that before it's tool late.

His appointees will depend on the Senate. Unless it's an overwhelmingly conservative Senate lacking Rinos, then in his first term we'll be treated to judicial appointees who have little record but are covert liberals. If there were a 2nd term it would be blatant liberals.
I'm not interested in the false fear scenarios that that ABO crowd present and I'm not going to vote for a Progessive Liberal no matter what party he/she is a member of.

In the entire history of the United States, only *one* president has ever been elected into office and then been denied his party's nomination for re-election. It was Franklin Pierce in 1857. Your buyer's remorse recovery plan has a very low statistical probability for success -- it approaches zero. Thank you. I'm glad to see that pointed out so well. Your whole post was, I am sad to say, right on the money in anticipating the probable consequences of a Romney win, particularly a Romney majority or, worse, landslide win.
What gets me is seeing so many hopeful, naive, and desperate conservatives telling themselves that, well, of course Romney will listen to conservatives once he's elected, otherwise they might not re-elect him! It would be downright funny if it wasn't so serious -- here they have gone along with confirming WITH BELLS ON that the only criteria that a Republican presidential candidate needs to win is to NOT be whatever liberal nightmare the Democrats have lined up.
The "Anybody But" strategy, a losing strategy nourished only by fear, is a sink -- a swirling drain -- washing away conservatism.

Get a mop Linda.
I have a feeling that is how Romney talks to his wife.
Mrs. Romney's first name is Ann, not Linda.
UH oh. ;)

Ross Perot came in third in 1992, when Clinton was elected on a 43% plurality -- 57% of Americans voted against him. Two years later he got his ass kicked when the Republican Revolution happened. Do you
really think the RR would have happened if Clinton had won with a majority, or if HW had been re-elected?
If my notion that my vote has "noble meaning" (as in weight) is incorrect, then about 236 years of patriots' fighting and dying was all for naught.
