I'm a life-long Republican. My political affiliation has been woven intrinsically into the very fabric of my being. My first political act was passionately lobbying my fourth-grade classmates to vote for Reagan over Walter Mondale in a mock election in 1984. As an adult, I continued to be a rock-solid Republican- I helped run my law school's chapter of the Federalist Society and its Republican club. And after the election of President Obama in 2008, I served as an officer in my state Republican Party. For the next two years, I devoted substantial amounts of my time, my talent, and my treasure to supporting local candidates running for office and to building the Party organization. Today, however, I am a registered Republican no longer.

And Democrats are not extremists? Oh , no. But I do not read criticism of anything Democrats did past few years. Not made clear he registered as a Democrat.
** No, I am not claiming he is known, credible, etc. Just sharing. I think he is a moron.
Pretty shallow understanding of Republican values. No long term understanding, just immediate gratification. Almost like he was a hard-core leftist in masquerade.
This guy comes acriss very much like the “seminar callers” that phone in to Rush`s show...
“First, let me say that I have voted for Republicans all my adult life, I supported Reagan, cheered when the Soviet Union fell, and believed in supply-side economics. I worked the local Republican campaigns and promoted Republican candidates.... BUT...”
I`m entertained at how he rails on about Repubs` supposed conspiracy mindset...
Funny.. I read the article again and couldn`t find the part about how large swaths of dems believe 9-11 was an inside job, and Bush used a weather machine that could blow up levees and kill black people during Hurricane Katrina.
Repubs have nothing on the dems when it comes to conspiracy talk.
Under Obama more people have left the Democratic Party than him leaving the GOP.
Seminar Caller is what he is in print.
Goodbye, Mr. Stafford. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!
The difference between a Hudson County Republican and a Hudson County Democrat is one gets elected and was does not. Otherwise they’re indistinguishable.
Writting crap like this can only come from a sh!thead RINO Republican, never a real Conservative.
Let’s be a little real here. I identify myself as a conservative and not a republican. To me, the republican party are a bunch of knobs, which is clear when you see who our candidate for 2012 is.
Come to Delaware.
Meant to reassure Dems Obama will win.
That’s my take. The clown is spouting the Dem parrot fodder like a HuffPo yoyo.
you can stop reading there...all this spineless clown is doing now is self preservation in a 90% rat district...he's not or ever has been a conservative....a lot of hot air and wasted ink and data to help his sorry political existence...scum bag!
Bingo. When I moved recently and had to re-register to vote, I registered as an Independent.
I would NEVER vote for a Democrat ever, but I can’t say I am the party of Karl Rove et al either.
BUT, after I registered, the one and ONLY ‘welcome’ letter I got was from a Republican, thanking me for registering to vote and how important it is etc.- and in real ink he wrote: “If there is anything I can ever do for you, do not hesitate to contact me”...I was shocked as he used to be Mayor-but in the next town over, where I have never lived...
I kept it, if for no other reason than he actually used a real pen!
To sum up Stafford’s complaints, Republicans incorrectly believe communists and socialists lurk around every corner, ignore climate change, include a large number of birthers, engage in class warfare, have contempt for our inherited social and economic policies, and dismiss the legitimacy of the political opposition. He’s also a Huntsman fan.
Either satire or someone that was a liar most of their life.
If he believes what he is saying now then he never was a Republican.
If he can not acknowledge the blatant socialism that is constantly eroding our Constitution and the basis of society set up by the founders of our Nation, then again, he never was a Republican.
Hannibal, are you Michael Stafford? I don’t understand your response to me.
I have heard most of these "talking points" from the Democrats for the past 40 years.
"I'm juth thupser, thanks for athking..."

Well put (from Hudson County NJ)
