It may come as a surprise to some of her fans, but Carrie Underwood has announced her support for gay marriage.
The devoutly Christian "Jesus, Take the Wheel" country singer spoke out to The Independent on why she believes marriage should be legal for all.
"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," Underwood, 29, explained. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."
The American Idol winner was raised in a Baptist church, but now attends a non-denominational church with her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.
"Our church is gay friendly," she said. "Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."
And the Christian star from Oklahoma doesn't agree with "people who use the Bible for hate."
"That's not how I would want myself as a Christian to be represented."

Seems to me Underwood doesn't have a very strong grasp of what God's Word means for humankind. God set the rules.

You will harm the culture and you will endorse harm to individuals who believe they should pursue same-sex gratification.
Those who care about the nature of our culture do not want sexual objects of infatuation to be the organizing unit of the culture.
Those who care about individuals do not want to encourage anyone in life-shortening behavior.
So, you are injuring same-sex practitioners, the culture, and even yourself.

I had no idea Carrie Underwood joined the Dixie Chicks.

Another female singer who marries a non-U.S citizen and suddenly takes on the spouse’s liberal views (see Ditzy Chicks). Country music and the American public say, “Goodbye, Mrs. Fisher.”
Maybe she just pretended she was Christian at first because it helped make her famous in the first place.
The name is familiar, but that’s it. What a shame.
But the Bible was written by men, small m, not God. I do not trust men. God speaks to our individual souls. We must trust God in our individual souls. Right or Wrong God trusts his children.
Carrie clearly has sold out on this one.
God does not approve of homosexual marriage, homosexual sex, homosexual kissing, homosexual hugging or any sexual activity outside of the Biblically defined marriage between a man and a woman.
And any Christian who says anything else has clearly chosen to ignore a clealry defined Biblical precept.
And regardless of my own sins, I can never say that its OK with God. Not ever.
And she's switched from a Baptist to a non-denom church. This is all a carefully planned strategy to move her more into the pop world and movies & TV. It's just rank cynicism.
She must be looking to change music genre's.
The Bible, being the Word of God, was written by God. That God used His creation, man, to write the Word of God should in no way diminish that Word.

So by Ms. Underwood’s definition, I can marry my dog.

Feminists (Friedan) and homosexuals (Hays) were formed by Marxists to destroy the morality of children and destroy Christianity (which will destroy the Constitution which is based on the concept of Rule of Law—”Higher Laws” which come from God and not Barney frank.
Yes-—the “intolerance” goes oneway with Marxists. They do not tolerate anyone who disagrees with their irrational, evil point of view.
Required? Hardly. Permitted yes, required no. Matt 19:4,5 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh". Emphasis mine.
Not condemned? 1 Timothy 3:2 & 12. Those in church leadership can only have one wife.
I think in the C&W world, everyone says they’re Christian whether they are in reality or not because it’s expected in the atmosphere of Southern culture. How many C&W stars are openly atheist or Muslim?
