Caution: "critical transition" in progress. Please remain seated.. while the Titanic levels out.. Study money must be getting tougher to come by these days.
It’s all about timing.. Rio+20 media propaganda filler

2 years of research
Barnosky, who tracks longtime changes in the fossil record, and 22 other scientists spent two years in conferences and research to produce their review. It is timed for a U.N. conference on sustainable development - known as the Rio+20 Conference - that is scheduled for Rio de Janeiro from June 22 to 24. The conference will mark 20 years since the first “Earth Summit” at Rio, involving delegates from 172 governments, produced the first international conventions on climate change and biodiversity.

Isnt the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isnt it our responsibility to bring that about?

Unchecked population growth, the disappearance of critical plant and animal species, the over-exploitation of energy resources, and the rapidly warming climate are all combining to bring mounting pressure on the Earth's environmental health, they say. Scientists from five nations, led by UC Berkeley biologist Anthony Barnosky, report their analysis Thursday in the journal Nature.
As soon as these RAT bastard socialist eco-environmental idiots get rid of any motorized vehicle, shut off all the electricity, running water, natural gas or fuel to their house, double up or triple up the number of occupants of their house, THEN they can make their point that they are trying to save the planet. Until they put their actions where their forked tongues reside, they can just STFU.
The 2nd disqualifer of these RAT turds and their whole bogus study? UC Berkeley biologist Anthony Barnosky. I wouldn't trust this RAT turd, liberal, progessive, socialist, marxist, fascist, commie pig any further than I could throw his phat elitist ass!

Current economic conditions doom anything they’re trying to pull.
They can go to hell where it’s really warm.

One nice thing though. That early burst of hot weather back in February brought the mosquitoes out and the following cold killed them off.
The mild winter means we’re overrun with rabbits (its like australia out there) and bullfrogs up the ying yang.

Once again, Science is not a consensus.
Before 1903, the “consensus” was that heavier-than-air craft could not fly. That view was even solidly guaranteed by Britain’s greatest living scientist at the time, Lord Kelvin.
How’d THAT consensus work out??
Let’s deal with all the facts here, including the one that human civilization has thrived only during warm periods.

Tomorrow’s high temperature in Chico, CA is forecast to be 82 degrees. Normal is 87 degrees. The record high was 106 in 1973. Last year on 6/8 the high was 79 degrees. Something tells me that these globull warming chicken little’s are full of something which has a horrid smell.

Warming nears point of no return, scientists say ( .. and then We'RE REallY ReallY DooMeD!!)
I could think they are congenital morons, but they certainly know that there were many periods of time in earth history, some recent, when warming was greater than the modest increase ending in 1998, sometimes much, MUCH greater and there was no "point of no return," but a return to colder, sometimes much, MUCH colder climates. They also know that there were many periods in earth's history where CO2 levels were many times greater than they are now and there was no "point of no return," but an overall trend to lower and lower levels of atmospheric CO2 until we are where we are now in a period of unprecedented low levels of CO2. Since they know that both of these things are without dispute, and since they continue to promote something that is completely contradictory to natural history, then we know that they are deceptive, untrustworthy, unscientific, and deserving to be thrown out on their asses and then locked up in jail for fraud.

I would certainly like to push it to, and beyond, the point of no return.
Then maybe these fools would shut up about it.

"The Earth is reaching a "tipping point" in climate change that will lead to increasingly rapid and irreversible destruction of the global environment unless its forces are controlled by concerted international action, an international group of scientists warns." That's right people -- believe it!
But this damage to Mother Earth's environment can be stopped by:
- Rescinding the Bush tax cuts
- Increasing income taxes
- Paying more taxes on everything we buy
- Higher taxes on gasoline and petroleum products
- voting for Barack Obama this November
- Getting rid of Nuclear power
- Stop drilling for oil
- Getting rid of the internal combustion engine
- Stop eating beef
- Stop having children. Abort them instead
- Oh, and more and higher taxes on everything
We can do it people
Yes We Can!

We know the Earth has been hotter in the past. We know concentrations of CO2 have been substantially higher in the past. Yet in those times of hotter heat and CO2ier CO2, the Earth’s equilibrium did not cascade irretrievably out of control. How do we know this? Because it isn’t out of control now. So if hotter hotness and higher CO2 did not trigger a point of no return in the past, today’s lower levels of each cannot.
