Microsoft isn’t thinking things through, they have a core advantage at the Desktop, which is still by far the biggest market, they are willing to sacrifice that to pursue this pipedream of catching Apple in the Tablet market...not gonna work.

I have read [no experience myself] that Win 8 sucks big time.

"[X] Will Be i[Fill in the blank] Killer..." Heard that before:
- Zune was supposed to kill iPod.
- Blackberry Storm was supposed to kill iPhone.
- Galaxy Tab was supposed to kill iPad.
- Google TV was supposed to be the Apple TV killer. (verdict's still out, wait until next week)
- Ultrabooks were supposed to be the Macbook Air killer.
- All-In-One PCs were supposed to be the iMac killer.
I think I've made my point. Apple is still #1 in all of those categories. And yet you have idiot execs downplaying any rumors about Apple.
I guess those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of Michael Dell, Steve Ballmer, Jon Rubenstein, and Jim Ballsillie.

I don’t think there is anymore murdered hardware than the iPhone and iPad in the history of tech. Killers here, killers there, killers all over. This new killer vaporware is so scary my 2 iPads saw me reading it and immediately jumped off the desk and hung themselves by the charging cord.

iPad killer? Very unlikely. Unless it does something extraordinary than an iPad won't do, the Apple app store and the iTunes interface pretty much guarantee iPad will keep its dominance for the foreseeable future.

Windows 8, Intel Atom SoC Will Be iPad Killer Bull. The only thing that will kill the iPad is Apple making stupid decisions sans Steve Jobs.
There are too many Apple Lemmings for the iPad or any other Apple product to fail unless it is totally uselss. (And even then I'm not so sure...)

It's not the intel processor or the tablet design from Acer or other capable hardware builders, the real problem lies here:
Windows 8

Both ipad and iphone should have an infrared LED in them to expand their use as tv remote controls.

I have Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Villiv s5 and my Kohjinshu SX3 both touch screens. Its not bad. I still like My IPad for that function though.
Now if Asus or someone came to the table with a Win 8 like the Transformer Prime WITH a Wiacom digitizer for writing and drawing that would be something that could hit the IPad...

Let me say, without any equivocation, that Windows 8 may or may not be spectacularly successful, that it may be a spectacular failure, or it may be something in between.
You can take that to the bank.

They always say there is something better coming out just after I bought one. I have the II and I love it. Although, I still need a laptop for some things, or maybe I need to attend a few apple classes because I don’t know all my pad can do. I love google earth. So fun. I can see the world without leaving my house.

Does anybody remember the Zune? That was the much ballyhooed “iPod killer” that Microsoft came out with some years back. I think they ended up with something like a 0.7% market share and the only place you can get one now is on eBay.
To: SmokingJoe
IPad killer? Maybe not, but Windows 8 and the innovative Windows 8 tablets we just saw at Comuptex 2012 in Taiwan is going to put Microsoft firmly in the tablet game.
The problem with that thinking is that Microsoft was in the tablet game.
Hell, they were the tablet game for many years.
Many of the same people making the decisions when Microsoft pissed away their tablet and smartphone markets are the very same people still making decisions.
Until you have a product guy running the company, MS is going to have issues in a lot of markets. Ballmer is a marketing kind of guy, not a product guy, and his tenure at Microsoft proves it. Gates and Jobs were product guys.
You need Gates back in there. Just as Jobs did his best work after a long absence from Apple, I think Gates could do the same for Microsoft. Maybe somebody should tell him that they spotted a mosquito with malaria in Redmond or something.
