Despite Scott Walkers Win, Obama Outpolls Romney In Wisconsin Aaron Blake 06/05/2012
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is on his way to victory in the states recall election tonight, but looking forward to the fall, the Obama campaign may have something positive to glean from the results. While the totals have Walker ahead significantly, exit polls suggest he did it with a healthy dose of support from voters who are leaning toward President Obama in the fall.
In fact, exit polls show Walker winning 17 percent of Obama supporters much higher than Democrat Tom Barretts 6 percent of Mitt Romney supporters. Overall, the electorate that turned out today is backing Obama by a significant margin: 52 percent to 43 percent.
Now, all of this comes with a giant caveat; the exit polls initially were pretty far off, showing a close race between Walker and Barrett. Thus, Republicans are casting doubt that they mean much of anything at all. Everyone should think twice about using tonights Wisconsin exit polling in any fashion, tweeted Kirsten Kukowski, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee.
The numbers could indeed change further, but even as the exit polls have adjusted to reflect Walkers win, Obamas lead has stayed largely the same.
And if they are even close to accurate, Obama would have won the race with the electorate that turned out today.
Republicans have argued that Wisconsin will be a toss-up in the fall and the Obama campaign notably agreed with them this week, putting the race on its list of toss-ups. For now, though, it might be hard to cast Walkers win as a big sign of GOP momentum in the presidential election.
Just who are the voters who opted to keep a Republican governor, but would also return Obama ....

They’re basing this on the same exit polls that predicted 50/50??? Riiiight.....
Dream on morons.
Blake sounds like another commie lib trying to think positive thoughts. Good luck champ!
No way!
My fancy new front-loading steam washer doesn’t spin anywhere close to as fast as the leftist media!
I’m sure Democrats were equally confident that Wisconsin voters would choose Russ Feingold over Ron Johnson in 2010 just like they were confident that Barret would defeat Walker in this recall election. but they were wrong both times. If their confidence isn’t shaken, it’s because they’re too stupid to read the writing on the wall.
"Theyre basing this on the same exit polls that predicted 50/50??? Riiiight....."
Exactly.
And if Obama was supposedly so beloved there, he would have gone out to WI.
Enough spin to make BOR jealous.
That’s a mere 1200 rpm or so.
So sayeth the uber lib Washington Post.
Suck it, libs. Your boy king is going down hard in November, and he's gonna take a boatload of his fellow travelers with him.
Baghdad Bob Axelrod would like this to be the takeaway, but the facts are that Walker just destroyed the liberals and Romney will LIKELY win Wisconsin in November.
It is GOOD to be a Republican tonight!!
Maybe Obama’s advisors managed to get Barack to understand that wherever he goes to stump for a local cause it’s the kiss of death, so why bother.
It’s the angular momentum that rulz.
And the spin is on.....
kilogram-meter-radians per second, or some such
Careful Blake, you’ll need to see a chiropractor with that spin.
Horse manure.
Chalk this Obama nonsense up to the “Bradley-Wilder effect”.
Walker and the rest of the recall targets all won in a freaking landslide, and Wisconsin is now a red state.
Who on earth would have (a) bothered to turn out for this election and (b) voted for Scott Walker and yet (c) believes in Obama?
