Teachers union president brags about pushing Walker recall in schools

Anyone who claims that teachers unions exist to improve public education is misinformed or lying.

The unions have become blatantly political organizations that spend most of their time and resources trying to maintain their domination of public schools and school budgets. When an occassional reformer, like Wisconsion Gov. Scott Walker, comes along and questions their self-serving agendas, they turn into political assasination machines.

And they are not ashamed to use taxpayer-funded schools to push their agendas.

The latest evidence comes from Milwaukee Teachers Education Association President Bob Peterson, who boasted this week about his union's efforts to sway voters, including high school students, to recall Walker in today's election. It was first reported by EAGnews.org .

See the exclusive video here.

Specifically, Peterson bragged about a district-wide program to put flyers of union propaganda in the backpacks of students. He also claimed credit for the union's effort to physically drive parents and students to the polls to vote.

"We are, as a union, making some changes. We're talking about reinventing ourselves and one of the things we've done this year is put full effort into changing the political process. ... We got the district to pass out flyers to every K-8 student - the backpack flyer - to go home that says 'go vote.' We have teachers that organized buses at schools to bring parents out, high school students out. And finally, for the next 48 hours, that's what we're going to be doing - just get out to vote."

While the message "go vote" may seem innocent enough, everyone knows what Peterson and his union are talking about. They have blatantly campaigned for Walker's removal for months, and are perfectly aware that Milwaukee has millions of registered voters who identify with the Democratic Party. A big turnout in Milwaukee could play a major role in the outcome of the recall election.

If Milwaukee were awash with pro-Walker Republicans, there would be no union effort to get out the vote.

None of this should be surprising. Peterson and his union hate Act 10, Walker's legislation that allows cash-strapped school boards to rein in runaway labor costs and spend more money on students without union permission. Before Act 10, schools were forced to make budget cuts that hurt students, because local unions refused to make financial concessions to help schools maintain basic services.

And union political activism goes far beyond the Walker recall. Peterson represents a growing sector of union leaders who believe they can - and must - shift culture leftward through government schools. And he wants to indoctrinated students into believing unions and big government will save America. He has previously been quoted as saying:

“If teacher unions want to be strong and well supported, it is essential that they not only be teacher unionists, but teachers of unionism. We need to create a generation of students who support teachers and the movement for workers rights, oppressed peoples’ rights. That’s our responsibility.”

In an EAGnews exclusive video late last year, unrepentant domestic terrorist and Marxist Bill Ayers beamed when he told a Milwaukee crowd that Peterson had solicited his help in running for the union presidency. Ayers hosted a fundraiser at his Hyde Park home in Chicago for Peterson.

See the exclusive video here.

Progressives believe it is their right to use government schools to push their personal political agenda. It doesn't bother them one iota to use taxpayer-funded schools to recall a governor. Will the union's efforts to indoctrinate our kids against free markets and reformist public officials like Scott Walker prevail? We'll know very soon.

Of course! They get a big kick out of having the taxpayer pay for their leftist indoctrination.

All these liberals will be claiming "voter fraud" after they lose the recall.

I'm already curious to hear the stories that will be spun to explain WHY the recall failed.

It would be interesting to know who paid for the paper and copy machine and toner to print those materials. Even if it was a paid for commercial flyer they were doing it on the school grounds and school time.........

The new meme is that who cares because their ground game has deepened. If they manage to replace one Senator, they will be crowing insufferably.

To: Kaslin; All
Thanks, Kaslin.

Conservatives who speak out against the Dept. of Education and/or all of the other multitudinous bureaucracies that control the propagandizing of children in the name of "educating" them must be willing to be marginalized by the mainstream media and politicians. We know that.

Even as early as the Year 1886, such was the case. A man by the name of Zach. Montgomery was denied an important post in the federal government for doing just that. You will read some of his words below.

I challenge each of you to visit the web site provided herein, read his impassioned and thorough report on the state of "public" education at that time, and then circulate the web address to others. Montgomery's report comes with well-documented government statistics and accompanying philosophical evaluation of the question.

With that said, those who love liberty must be willing to come forward to declare that it is better to be remembered for standing on and articulating enduring principles of right versus wrong, liberty versus tyranny, than to be praised by the mainstream media and so-called "progressives."

Here are words from Zach. Montgomery in his 1886 Book, which was entitled "Poison Drops in the United States Senate . . . ." Although his treatise dealt primarily with the public school question, these remarks might be helpful to those who, today, are concerned by the propagandizing of students in what passes for "public education."

Excerpts from Zacharias Montgomery:

"My countrymen, disguise the fact as we may, there is in this country to-day, and in both the political Parties, an element which is ripe for a centralized despotism. There are men and corporations of vast wealth, whose iron grasp spans this whole continent, and who find it more difficult and more expensive to corrupt thirty odd State Legislatures than one Federal Congress. It was said of Nero of old that he wished the Roman people had but one head, so that he might cut it off at a single blow. And so it is with those moneyed kings who would rule this country through bribery, fraud, and intimidation.

"It is easy to see how, with all the powers of government centered at Washington in one Federal head, they could at a single stroke put an end to American liberty.

"But they well understand that before striking this blow the minds of the people must be prepared to receive it. And what surer or safer preparation could possibly be made than is now being made, by indoctrinating the minds of the rising generation with the idea that ours is already a consolidated government ; that the States of the Union have no sovereignty which is not subordinate to the will and pleasure of the Federal head, and that our Constitution is the mere creature of custom, and may therefore be legally altered or abolished by custom.

"Such are a few of the pernicious and poisonous doctrines which ten millions of American children are today drinking in with the very definitions of the words they are compelled to study. And yet the man who dares to utter a word of warning of the approaching danger is stigmatized as an enemy to education and unfit to be men tioned as a candidate for the humblest office.

"Be it so. Viewing this great question as I do, not for all the offices in the gift of the American people would I shrink from an open and candid avowal of my sentiments. If I have learned anything from the reading of history, it is that the man who, in violation of great principles, toils for temporary fame, purchases for himself either total oblivion or eternal infamy, while he who temporarily goes down battling for right principles always deserves, and generally secures, the gratitude of succeeding ages, and will carry with him the sustaining solace of a clean conscience, more precious than all the offices and honors in the gift of man.

"History tells us that Aristides was voted into banishment because he was just. Yet who would not a thousand times rather today be Aristides than be numbered amongst the proudest of his persecutors.

"Socrates, too, in violation of every principle of justice, was con demned to a dungeon and to death. Yet what name is more honored in history than his? And which of his unjust judges would not gladly, hide himself in the utter darkness of oblivion from the with ering scorn and contempt of all mankind ?

"From the noble example of Aristides and of Socrates let American statesmen learn wisdom, and from the undying infamy of their cow ardly time-serving persecutors let political demagogues of today take warning."

So Zacharias Montgomery in 1886. Read his complete work at HERE.

Anyone who reads his complete volume will realize this man's ability to see the consequences of what his fellow Americans were advocating in the area of education of youth.

I hadn’t heard that but it doesn’t surprise me. They take buses around to homeless shelters and wino hangouts handing out packs of cigarettes to get anyone with a pulse to vote. It says a lot that they have to bolster their turnout with people who know nothing about politics and couldn’t care less who is running. Idiocracy.

drop the voting age to 16...

Working their way to 0, figures they'd push the envelope in both directions. On the other side, the envelope already extends past the age of death.

‘Progressives’ are also attempting to allow non-citizens to vote as well.

This is supposed to be surprising? I mean holy hell, it's the whole reason they created the public school system in the first place!!
