There is no truce! Retread troll zot!
Vanity | Christopheros Geanakos

Posted on 05/19/2012 6:59:51 PM PDT by geanakos.chris

First of all, not a newb.. just a purge victim from the primaries.

JimRob posted almost a month ago about a so called truce between Romney supporters and the rest of the FReeper community. Since then, it appears the left has little job to do in driving a wedge into the right wing, we are doing it still ourselves.

Were is this truce? How come all I see on here is Alinsky tactics of divide and conquer? Today there was a post about Evil Mittie and him fundraising with morning after pill distributors. And the "true blue conservatives" pounce, little do they know that this pill manufacturer is one of the largest generic pill manufactuyrers in the world.. who produce all kind of medicine, even Augmentin, Azithromycin and Cipro, common anti-biotics..

This so called truce makes me sick. Can't wait to read the next half-baked anti-Romney article and the zealot FReepers who will eat up its every word because it furthers the narrative of Romney that THEY want him to fit into.

I'm not upset that people have beliefs that won't "allow" them to vote for Romney.. but what really irritates me is this active campaigning against people who would support Romney.. what game are you trying to pull? To deliver us into 4 more years of Obama servitude, for what purpose?? It strengthens conservatives? Talk about a phyyric victory. If you don't support Romney fine, but we are all anti-Obama here.. lets stay on focus.

Absolutely. Defend your opinion, use facts (unlike libs), but attacking your fellow Conservatives on FR is not right.

There are more ‘moderates’ and liberals in the Republican Party than there are conservatives, and always has been. Conservatives are outsiders. The Establishment may be forced to throw them a bone now and then, but conservatives are still outsiders.

So mathematically the Mittster doesn't need the Conservative vote to win. Good strategy, I plan on doing my part.

hehe

That’s why they have to fool conservatives; they don’t need them in the selection process but they do need them to win in November. They count on conservatives suffering Stockholm Syndrome.

Really? I wish you would do what your tagline says and look it up.

I did.

Even lib pollsters at Gallup know that the largest self-identifying political group in the US — and that includes Dims and Independents.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/152021/conservatives-remain-largest-ideological-group.aspx

And if you scroll down, you’ll see a whopping 71% of Republicans identify themselves as Conservatives, contrast with 23% moderate and 4% (confused or mentally deficient) liberal.

A more conservative (accurate) poll would probably find higher numbers for our side.

(that’s how it’s done FRiends — disagreeing with facts, no insults)

I understand the MSM has convinced people that polls somehow constitute facts. What people tell others they believe and how people actually behave are frequently different.

More of an indication that conservatism has been defined down.

Okay, I’ll bite — what’s the evidence that conservatives don’t constitute a plurality in the US and a whopping majority in the GOP?

Because all the data I’m looking at say that WE surround THEM.

“.....IOW, we will not be better off with Mitt Romney. And the GOP, as per usual, will not resist Romney the same way they would resist Obama.....”
***********************************************************
You do know that a PRESIDENT Romney will not be producing the legislation in 2013 don’t you? The Tea Party factions currently in the House have not, for the most part, been ones to toe the line for the GOPe. If we work hard to send them reinforcements they will be even MORE of a force to contend with. And VERY good things are beginning to develop in the various US Senate races—Tea Party candidates are winning over RINOs & GOPe types. There is a good possibility that, if we continue to work hard, come 2013 the Republican majority in the Senate will be controlled by conservatives.

My point is that it is not the 2013 GOP controlled Congress that will need to RESIST Romney (although they will have to IGNORE any stupid, short-sighted legislative proposals he may send forth). It will be instead the Presidency that could resist this new conservative Republican controlled Congress. And guess what?—Romney will not be vetoing Republican legislation; a 2nd term lame-duck Obama would—in addition to doing much, much more to destroy the country.

Ok, let me get this correct. You write a post about how those of us who do not support Romney are picking on you because you do support that liberal. Then you spend part of the post telling us to be nice to you while you spend a paragraph attacking us.
Ok, here is the deal, you want to vote for that liberal Romney be my guest, I will not ever again support another liberal - R or D.

“Facts do not favor Romney as far as his record as a conservative goes. Does the GOP-E think we are dumb, deaf and blind? The “truce” does not mean freepers have to shut up and walk in lock step with Romney.”

For me, I have distilled it down to:

God would not vote for Romney, so I won’t, either.

Never again after McCain. And never for a guy with an abortionist/homosexualist/statist record like Romney’s.

I didn't like McCain and that's why I supported Romney last time around, ( and I didn't look into his record at the time. I just supported him because I couldn't stand McCain. Kind of like the people who support Romney today and hate Obama).

McCain totally pissed me off with his kiss ass approach to Obama. Romney is no better and I won't get drawn in to supporting him like I did the last election. Besides that, I never forgot whose people it was that attacked Palin after the election. Screw Romney! I once lived in Alaska and I will always back my girl, Sarah!!!

Thank you Jim for your honesty and bringing up the truth when others don't want to listen.

I meant please explain this statement you made:

Numerically, RINOs are actually conservatives.

Was this a misspeak or...what do you mean? Still not computing.

Conservatives have always been a minority among GOP politicians, Reagan was the exception.

Not reading your nasty thread but just dropped in to say that Jim Robinson declared a truce... he’s confirmed it personally to me and until and unless he changes his mind I will continue to support Romney on this forum.

“Conservatives have always been a minority among GOP politicians, Reagan was the exception.”
**********************************************************
I think that that has probably been true historically (at least since the 1950s) but I think things are definitely changing for the better in recent years. We need to work to keep that trend going. We need to get a sufficient number of true conservative Republicans elected so that we will have the numbers (in conjunction with the “fence sitters” that will always exist) to take control of the 2013 Republican majorities in both House & Senate. I’m not attacking anyone, but now is definitely NOT the time for defeatism.

I'm getting responses to my question but no answers. I asked the other poster what was meant by this quote or if it was misspoken? It makes NO sense to me!

“Everything would be fine and dandy except that Romney isn’t a conservative.”

Romeny would be a much better choice if he were Palin or Gingrich.

Hulka and all, I see now that he didn’t say the word “Muslims.” There was a discussion about it here:

I was NOT accurate. Please accept my apologies.
