Trayvon Martin's death was “avoidable.”

That’s the conclusion of a new police report on the unarmed teen’s killing at the hands of George Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla.

"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely, if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern," the document by Sanford, Fla. Police said.

...conversely, if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern,"

How the **** can any of them possibly know that Zimmerman identifying himself would have changed anything at all?

The cops told him to stop following Traydmark...

The cops told him "we don't need you to do that", they didn't tell him not to.

“had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party’s concern,”

The Kid never gave him the chance. He sucker punched him as soon as he got within reach.

If George Zimmerman had fully realized that his life was expendable, and that anyone with darker skin than his has thee right to take his life at will, then this needless tragedy would not have occurred.

But every once in a while some uppity white will think he has the right to live, or even to question his masters...

Lots of ‘ifs’.

What about If Martin didn’t come from behind GZ, what about if 17 year old Martin went to dinner with his dad while on suspension from school for 10 days, of if 17 year old Martin just went into his house or if he didn’t sucker punch GZ.

I agree with your take on how things went.

I would only add that I think during the struggle, in which Martin was astride a prone Zimmerman, Martin realized a gun was in Zimmerman’s waistband and went for it.

At that point it was no longer fisticuffs, but became a life or death struggle, and all academic discussion of what might have been, evaporated forever.

The second part is bunk anyways...how does the police officer know that Zimmerman did not do exactly that (”identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party’s concern”)? There are no witnesses to how this started, and the prosecution already admitted as much.

All they have is Zimmerman getting out his car, and they have to show that that act equals the intent to kill Martin, at the time he left his vehicle. The whole “it could have been avoided” argument is flimsy at best. It could have been avoided thousands of ways. To single out one act in this whole chain is a pretty lame attempt, but it is all they have.

If only Zimmerman would have locked himself in his home. Stayed off his neighborhood roads and sidewalks.Lived in terror and hide under the bed, as his neighbors were broken into and robbed. And most of all, if he didn't have the right to own a gun, and fought back when someone was trying to kill him....Photobucket

Ok I forgot the exact wording and it was the dispatcher not “the cops” but what is the evidence he continued to do so? I remember reading something that he started walking back to his car and that is when Traydmark attacked him.

Especially in this case, where the pressure from the Left to hang Zimmerman is so great, regardless of the facts. And to riot and cause mayhem if he’s found not guilty.

The cops told him to stop following Traydmark...

Small correction: A $12 per hour dispatcher said "we don't need you to do that."

Everyone should just stay in bed and not drive their cars.

Seems like Martin thought his life wasn’t expendable and someone else’s was worth nothing with his sucker punch and pound his head into cement in his ‘I don’t like you’ style. How uppity is that? Who taught him that?

Pure conjecture on the part of the police. Since when are police “jurors”.

It often falls between Judge and Executioner, right after they kick in the wrong door and shoot your dog.

The fact that Trayvon Martin at first ran indicates guilty knowledge.

Also, I always assault total strangers I encounter on the street at night. Clear as day.

Yes I forgot the exact wording and yes it was the dispatcher, but from what I remember reading Zimmerman said that as he was heading back to his car, that is when Traydmark walked up to him and attacked. Also, Zimmerman said to the dispatcher that Traydmark appeared to be on drugs, and in that video at 7-11 just released, you can see Traydmark seems pretty zonked. They said he had THC in his system and weed makes you paranoid.

Big deal. Essentially *every* homicide is “avoidable” by either party.

Anyhow, “the police” don’t write reports. A POLICEMAN did. Or someone they hired. What is this INDIVIDUAL’s name and role?

What is this ‘new’ police report?

Do the Sanford Police always issue periodic ‘new’ reports after a crime?
