Original title: Obama calls pastors to explain gay marriage support; black churches conflicted by presidents decision
---------------------------------------------
After making his historic remarks on same-sex unions last week, President Barack Obama led a conference call with black church pastors to explain his support for gay marriage, the New York Times reports. The call, which was held with "eight or so African-American ministers," occurred about two hours after the president's interview with ABC's Robin Roberts.
Obama explained to them that he struggled with the decision, pastors on the call told the paper, but several voiced their disapproval.
"They were wrestling with their ability to get over his theological position," the Rev. Delman Coates, a Maryland pastor who was on the call, told the Times.
The conference call was part of a quiet effort by the president to control potential political damage caused by his support of same-sex marriage.
According to the Times, Obama phoned "at least one [the Rev. Joel C. Hunter] of the five spiritual leaders he calls regularly for religious guidance, and his aides contacted other religious figures who have been supportive in the past."

Duh, biggest no-brainer in the world.
Bwahahahaha!!!! ROTFLMAO!!!
I have seen some DISGUSTING things....but THIS tops everything, even Hillary Clinton’s butt.
He called a few white pastors individually and put the black pastors in the back of the bus with a conference call. I wonder if that will get any play?
he probably did the wind and nod thing saying he just said it to get moneyfrom homosexuals.
So much for the fictional BS about "everybody's president," and the Great Uniter...
Why are Black churches "conflicted"? This would seem to suggest that for some the color of one's skin trumps the Word of the Almighty God.
In case some are afraid to come out and say it, I will. These liberal black Churches gave up Christianity some years ago.
Why are some of these black Pastors now feigning outrage over gay marriage? They didn`t give a HOOT about 60 million plus aborted children, why would they give a HOOT about gay marriage???
They knew that a vote for a Democrat was a vote for a liberal Supreme Court, which means a vote for gay marriage, abortion and all the trimmings.
Now we will see them as they really are as they line up to vote Democrat regardless of their so called outrage over gay marriage.
A vote for any Democrat is like spitting on Christ.
Barry, you can’t get the unnatural butt sex smell off. You are Satan’s minion.
It’s a classic political twist, most famously played by Bill Clinton.
Find a “sin” your base will tolerate, that’s titillating and divisive to steal headlines and call the bombers out, to divert attention from an extremely dangerous yet boring topic.
Bill Clinton sold our countries secrets to China for campaign contributions, and it should have been deadly. But who could stop talking about Monica?
Now Obama MUST keep people’s minds off the economy, which is, let’s face it, nowhere near as fascinating as smutty magazine covers. The MSM is MUCH more coordinated with the Dems than people dream - I have NO DOUBT these bomb throwing covers are planned to keep people away from discussing the economy.
Heck, the black churches don’t seem to care about heterosexual marriage, so why are they going to care about homosexual marriage??
Thanks, I needed that! LMAO
I just read several articles from so called outraged black pastors...LOL
These folks have zero credibility, once you support/celebrate abortion with your Democrat vote, you might just as well eat drink and be merry, because I cant see how they enter the Kingdom of God..
Jesus said if anybody harms one of these little ones.....you get the picture
Voting Democrat is celebrating abortion! And pro life Democrats??? The term is a oxymoron
... almost half of which were black.
Obama’s views on gay marriage get mixed reaction among local African-Americans

Bishop Nerrick Jackson says the President’s motives are political. “It really doesn’t surprise me from a political standpoint. As a pastor, of course, the bible’s pretty clear on its disposition as to what the definition of marriage is. So while I don’t endorse his position I continue to endorse him as a president because of his leadership and his policy.”
And because he’s black...
Black pastors oppose gay marriage but support Obama

“I believe the vast majority of African Americans will support the president,” said Rev. Randolph Bracy Jr., senior pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando. “When all is said and done, African Americans will not abandon the president for Mitt Romney and the Republican Party.”
“They were wrestling with their ability to get over his theological position,”
Nothing to wrestle about. Obama is wrong and if they would look past the fact that he is black and that is the only reason why they supported him to begin with, they would tell him he is on the wrong side of the Bible on this one. Obama is the only one who should be wrestling with his newly found position on this theological issue.
