Evangelicals: Mitt Romney hit right note
Politico ^ | 5/12/2012 | Ginger Gibson

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Evangelical leaders praised Mitt Romney’s speech today at Liberty University, saying that the Mormon candidate was right to acknowledge his religious differences with other Christian voters.

“It was an acknowledgment that the issues that social conservatives and evangelicals care about are important issues to Gov. Romney and as he sees them [as] part of a successful economic platform for the country,” said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

Perkins added that there wasn’t anything the presumptive GOP presidential nominee — who many evangelical voters regarded with skepticism during the primary while backing Rick Santorum — should have done differently. And he pointed to the huge opportunity created for Romney by President Barack Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage this week (Romney opposes gay marriage).

“I think he touched on the key issues that are important to social conservatives. He mentioned Rick Santorum and Rick’s emphasis and the need to have the family and the ties to economic success.” (See also: 10 essential facts about Liberty U.)

Regarding Romney’s acknowledgement that Mormonism differs from other Christian faiths in certain ways, Perkins said the candidate was correct to tackle the issue.

“That was what he needed to do, was to acknowledge that there are theological differences between him and evangelicals,” Perkins said.

Mormonism is polytheistic.

Jeff Head said so!

God only knows who has benefited from the largesse of Romney’s very wealthy supporters like Mark DeMoss and others.

Didn't some BANKS just 'lose' 2 billion dollars; SOME where?

And just which of his LOONIE policies upsets you the most?

That the USA was responsible for 9/11.

You're not upset by that?

How does the logic go?

You or I give money to organization for a cause you support, that is good.

Romney gives money to same organization, not good.

Now questions arise: Do said organizations receive donations from OTHER politicians (directly or indirectly)?

Do said organizations endorse politicians, including those they get donations from?

So for every leftist source at your links, I need to know which other candidates gave donations, too.

If Romney is the ONLY one, then you win the argument. Produce the spreadsheets.

Somebody needs to make it simple, cuz I’m just a country boy from the Orange groves and Avocado orchards.

Romney is playing the game of politics, as it is (like it or not), and winning.

Between Romney and Obama, I much prefer Romney.

* Your beef really ought to be with the organizations that give endorsements for consideration, not with the candidates.

Politics is a full contact sport, and straight thinking conservatives ought to be glad Romney will play all out.

Obama or Romney will prevail; not you or Virgil Goode. Of that I give 100% guarantee.

Why should I accept the word of a mere man, be he Joseph Smith, Pope Pius, or Martin Luther himself, about whether or not I am a Christian? Do you look to others to determine whether or not you are a Christian? Or do you pray to God, in the name of Christ, and look for his Holy Spirit to guide you in your daily life?

You are the one with the straw dogs, er, sects. Christ is the ONLY acceptable authority, and He judges each person individually. Do you consider that arrogant? You and the rest of the sanctimonious gatekeepers of Christianity are irrelevant.

So it has to be your Christ, in every particular, that I accept? You are another would-be gatekeeper of Christianity. You and the pack of lies you post about Mormons are irrelevant. You actually believe that Mormons think the Cross is stupid? Maybe you should read what you post before you cut and paste it from anti-mormon sites.

I have wasted too much time today. Goodbye.

You just keep ignoring post 73, all the various churches of Christianity agree that Mormonism is not a Christian religion. Churches seemingly diverse on some issues all agree about the religion that Joseph Smith created.

Christian churches all agree on Mormonism not being Christian, from Catholic to Baptist, from Methodist to Eastern Orthodox, I think the Christian world must collectively know something about Christianity.

You versus Christendom, you as the single individual that decides who, or what is Christian, you have quite an ego, you don’t read very well though.

Here is my own witness, as an LDS, norway.

There are any number of ministers, individuals, and churche's who recognize the obvious. If we profess Jesus of Nazareth, born miraculously in Bethlehem, as the Son of God and accept Him as our personal Savior through the Atonement He wrought on the Cross, and acknowledge our love for Him and that He is Lord and Savior, then despite whatever other doctrinal differences we have, we are, by definition Christian.

I so acknowledge Him beofre yopu and everyone else who reads this.

There are those, who in their hearts, will not allow us this. But Christ will be my Judge, and He knows my heart, and I am content to let Him do the Judging.

MY WITNESS FOR JESUS CHRIST

God's speed to you and yours.

See my post 312.

God's speed to you and yours, hope you had a wonderful Sabbath and that you and yours had a wonderful Mother's Day.

We did...had four of the eight grandkids over and three of the five kids.

Mom (my wonderful wife Gail of 34 years) was lovin' it after we got home from Church.

BTW, I was raised Baptist myself down in my native Texas. Good folks, and a great pastor...many good friends to this day...and they know we are Christian because they know us and we worked together in our community, even after our conversion.

And I recognize and accept them as Christians too. Followers of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are we all.

Funny how folks who know you, and have felt the spirit as we did things together, come to that cnclusion, eh? Though there were some, like some of these folks, who would deny us our own heart felt faith as if it were theirs to Judge.

BZ.

You may be a Christian, Jeff, but Mormonism is not a Christian sect. The following from the actual teachings of the leadership in MormonISM will suffice to illustrate:

"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]

"Again, they will try to tell how the divinity of Jesus is joined to his humanity, and exhaust all their mental faculties, and wind up with this profound language, as describing the soul of man, "it is an immaterial substance!" What a learned idea! Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven. Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation.
I have given you a few leading items upon this subject, but a great deal more remains to be told. Now, remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost."
[ LDS Prophet Bingham Young, JoD 1:50-51 April 9, 1852]

"The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were Mormons (Jedediah Grant, Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 346)

It is important to know, however, that for the overwhelming majority of mankind, eternal progression has very definite limitations. In the full sense, eternal progression is enjoyed only by those who receive exaltation. Exalted persons gain the fullness of the Father; they have all power, all knowledge, and all wisdom; they gain a fullness of truth, becoming one with the Father. All other persons are assigned lesser places in the mansions that are prepared, and their progression is not eternal and unlimited but in a specified sphere. There will be truths such persons never learn, powers they never possess. They are "ministering servants, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory," and they so continue "to all eternity, and ... forever and ever." (D. & C. 132:16-17.)

Those who gain exaltation, having thus enjoyed the fullness of eternal progression, become like God. It should be realized that God is not progressing in knowledge, truth, virtue, wisdom, or any of the attributes of godliness. He has already gained these things in their fullness. But he is progressing in the sense that his creations increase, his dominions expand, his spirit offspring multiply, and more kingdoms are added to his domains. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, pp. 5-10.)

In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it. (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 5, 1844)

[ Smith's worldview of time as it pertains to the gods: Smith believed in a "beginning" that was operative before the Mormon plan to the create this world. The question becomes, who is the head of the Gods as pertains to this ‘council of gods?]

In the very beginning the Bible shows there is a plurality of Gods beyond the power of refutation. It is a great subject I am dwelling on. The word Eloheim ought to be in the plural all the way through--Gods. The heads of the Gods appointed ONE God for us... (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 372)

You may be a hristian, Jeff, but LDS inc is not a Christian sect. You say you will be so kind as to 'let Jesus judge you', but do you believe you have to earn the forgiveness He offers through His Cross? Are you an honest Mormon, Jeff? You may be a Christian, Jeff, but the above teachings from the leadership of your ISM show they were not about Christianity as found in the Bible. MormonISM was founded by a peepstone conman sexual predator of married women. Do you really believe God would 'endorse' Joseph Smith? ... And we've seen the insertion of defamation of King David, so don't try that one, Jeff. David was a man after God's own heart, because David had a broken and contrite spirit when he was shown his sinfulness. Joseph Smith pointed and fired a loaded pistol or two when shown his sinfulness.

It was a great Mother’s Day for my beautiful wife. We had 3 or our 14 grandchildren over at the house. The six kids called and wished her a pleasant day.

I know having left the Methodist Church is that I have spent zero minutes in bashing them. They were great people. My wife does not spend her time bashing Southern Baptists either. She loved them because they were good people.

I often wonder why the passion for spending time on us when they could be doing good and building their churches. If what they found to be satisfying outside of the LDS Church, I am fine with that. The LDS church is not for the faint of heart.

Divine Providence
is the Key to the
Saving of America

The government keeps getting bigger, our chains keep get getting heavier, and our nation continues to decline, under both Democrat and Republican elites. The reason for this is that the people have lost the capacity to grasp the principle of Divine Providence and how that principle plays a central role in determining whether America rises, or falls.

We need to use this election cycle to begin the process of resurrecting in the people a new-found appreciation for the principle of Divine Providence. This is our only hope.

We can begin this process, in this election cycle, by coming to terms with this great truth, by studying it, and coming to understand it deeply, that we set America back substantially by allowing Romney to cast a deep inky black shadow of godlessness upon the once bright landscape of the Republican Party.

Please see:

VOTING FOR ROMNEY
IS TO VOTE FOR THE
DEATH OF AMERICA

The Republican elite has trained us to think inside a box they have created, which they enforce through the darkest side of peer pressure, which is public character assasination. And this box is like a little cage, inside of which they have mounted a circular treadmill, it is commonly referred to as a rodent exercise wheel, in which the little squirrel is free to run all day long, on their behalf, huffing and puffing, bleeding great drops of steaming sweat, thinking that miles and miles are covered in the direction of victory, when in fact the little squirrel is going worse than nowhere. The elites are carrying the cage downhill the whole time. Open the cage door, and climb out, and begin to allow real and valid outside-the-box ideas to populate the mind. To see is to believe.

Now is the time for all good men, and women, to stand up and shout, with one unified voice, "No more pet rodent exercise wheels for us!" We will choose to serve the Lord God, and finally, put our country back into an upward trajectory towards the realization of that Shining City on the Hill spoken of so eloquently by the late President Ronald Reagan.

Again, please see:

VOTING FOR ROMNEY
IS TO VOTE FOR THE
DEATH OF AMERICA
