I usually don’t endulge in the troll-feeding exercise, but sometimes the annoyance factor is just too much to resist....lol.

Hmmm...I dunno. Coffee grounds in the beans. Doesn’t sound very appetizing, somehow.

Don't put in the coffee grounds. Put in the liquid.

It is very good.

Oh...so you strain the grounds and use the liquid. That sounds reasonable (and better).

Thanks.

Hundreds of airmen have told me that my BBQ sauce was the best they ever tasted. Same with my beans.

Coffee is my secret ingredient when I can't get Tennessee whiskey for flavoring.

I'll go with the numbers. ;)

“I’m going to ask my vet about how he gets the vein on the first try.”

He needs to talk to the nurse who stuck my arm looking for a vein when I had my first eye cataract surgery a few months ago. She dug around with the needle looking for a vein (major hurt), then turned the arm over and stuck me on that side. When I finally got out of there, I had a huge hematoma on that first side. That blood traveled around and the arm looked like I was a druggie. Those were the worst sticks I have ever had and I am not squimish about needles. I would take your vet over that nurse any day.

Also would like to ask other preppers how to keep supplies in hot humid Florida. As it is, I always keep most dry and some other foods in the fridge.

1 - Foodsaver vacuum sealer

2 - Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers - Storing Food In Mylar Bags

3 - Rotate - eat the old, store the new

4 - Freeze pasta, flour, Rice, gravy mixes, etc. when you bring it home to kill bugs, bug eggs and larve.

5 - Inspect regularly. Watch for cans starting to rust, bulging cans, bug infestations, etc.

"When you post stuff like that on a big forum like this, you’re gonna get some criticism. "

You're the example of the stupid, low IQ jerks that are attracted too.

I want one of those.

Been wondering about something: can you advise on a good firestarter?

Do I just get one of those clicky thingies or stock up on matches or both? Or is there something else.

Look at this change of post look at the anger of and you can see that it's not just the Libs that are shocked and angered by preppers, there are any number of people who consider themselves to be conservatives right here on FR who are just as angry at preppers.

Some want to bring God's Armageddon into the discussion as if they know that it will be God's will should some catastrophe befall us. Despite the fact that the history of man is full of direr times which were cause by nature or man himself. Man doesn't need God to help them muck things up to a point were their fellows cry out for God to end it all and relieve them of their misery.

How many Jews do you think while crammed into a cattle car on their way to some death camp didn't wish they had heed the signs more and prep for what was coming?

I want to warn you who prep, beware these pseudo-conservatives they will be the worse in someways than many of the Libs. These types will want to punish you for being right and proving them wrong, they will even go as far as blaming you for the troubles because in their twisted way of thinking your prepping brought the ‘troubles’. I also warn you of those of the ‘its God's will’ crowd who also will want to see you punished as they will see you as dodging God's punishment, these two groups will be among the first to report you so as to make sure you too suffer. The first group because you proved them wrong the second because you try to escape what they see as the rightful wrath of God, as if they know the Lord's mind.

OPSEC is not just for you Lib neighbors many people that you think as being conservative thinkers will be just as dangerous.

We have talked a lot about safety in numbers and that is so true, just keep in mind not all enemies sail under their true colors.

Beware these people listen to their words carefully and keep in mind this quote from one of my favorite westerns:
“Most times a man will tell you his bad intentions if you listen, let yourself hear.”

I would ‘listen’ to some of these post and take warning at what they are saying.

I found the brand to be as good as any others. One thing by buying a can at your local Walmart there's no shipping charges nor minimum and you can easily try the product and see if you like it.

Remember the first rule of food storage:
Store what you eat and eat what you store.

There is information on how to use calcium hypochlorite, and various of ways to treat water as well as a good section on various water filters and even instructions on a DIY Berkey filter you can make.

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf

NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

Lastly this for the doubters and the scoffers.

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.

Underestimation can be fatal.”

It’s a 9mm glock; that’s all I know. I should get out to the range, I know. I have been well-trained on how to use it at least.

Green (unroasted) coffee beans will store pretty much indefinitely in a cool dry place. Bugs don’t like ‘em either.

I’ve been roasting my own every other day for better’n five years now. You can get it pretty cheap. Got 40# for $120 delivered from Blue Bell Coffee. Ain’t no hoity toity high brow blended crap, just good bean from Nicaragua.

MRE Depot has green coffee beans canned. 12 Cans per case, packed with Oxygen Absorbers and Desiccant Packs to ensure that these stay moisture and oxygen free for many, many years.

I have lighters. I have matches. I have batteries and steel wool. I can start a fire with two angry boy scouts.

There are millions of ways to start a fire. Learn them.

Tinder is the key to it. I know of 8 different plants around here that will have a bone dry fiberous pith in a pouring rain. And that is what you need.

Fire = fuel, O2, heat.

God gives us enough O2 in the atmosphere, so that is covered.

Dry fuel, or tinder can be hard to get in a rain storm, but it is available.

Heat, or at least a spark can come from many different sources.

Sounds like what you need is a hands-on mentor that can show you how, and correct your errors.

That's how I learned. Reading only takes you so far. You have to do it.

Tres Rios Magnolia, from Costa Rica. If I hit the auctions right in November/December, I can get it for $1.60/lb.

I only buy during the glut during harvest.

I also have roasted my own for 15 years or so. I've roasted it in an iron skillet over an open flame, or in an air pop-corn popper (my favorite).

Nothing like excellent, fresh roasted, fresh ground, good coffee first thing in the morning. Whether there is electrikity or not.
