A super PAC supporting Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst's Senate campaign has released an internal poll showing him at 57 percent in the GOP race with less than three weeks left until the primary.
The poll shows Dewhurst at 57 percent, followed by Ted Cruz at 16 percent, Tom Leppert at 12 percent, and Craig James at 4 percent. Eleven percent were undecided.
If Dewhurst finishes with over 50 percent of the vote on May 29, he wins the nomination outright. If not, the top two finishers will advance to a July 31 runoff.
The Perception Insight poll of 800 Texas Republican primary voters was conducted for the Texas Conservatives Fund from May 1-7 and carries a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.

A perfect response to the same canned copy and paste talking points from the DewCrist campaign website.
In all fairness, it wasn’t you who asked for the specific points that prove David Dewhurst is just a another conservative a little older than the probably also conservative Cruz.
So, I didn’t expect you to address the truths that bigun requested I send him.
Other than having the money to get himself elected how does any of that qualify as a conservative accomplishment? Answer: It doesn't! I helped get the guy elected in fact. Do you recall that little jingle he used in ALL his ads back then? "If you keep on doing what you've always done your going to keep on getting what you've always got!" That came from me. I know the man personally and no longer trust him! When a man sits across the table from me and promises to do a thing and then turns right around and does just the opposite it tends to have that effect on me! so I will not be doing what I've always done in this election!
I know Ted Cruz as well and he has NEVER lied to me. Not once! EVER!
I wonder who his mentor is?
You can say that again! In spades!
David Dewhurst has never claimed to be some kind of conservative activist,...
That a good thing because he, very definitely, isn't one!
... but neither is he the liberal you are unsuccessfully trying to make him out to be.
Show me where I ever said he was a liberal. I haven't! All I have ever said is that he is NOT conservative and he isn't by your own admission above! WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE FOLKS LIKE DEWHURST IN WASHINGTON! There are quite enough of them there already thank you!
David Dewhursts stands on the issues are well-known and you know as well as I that he will work to get a Constitutional Amendment to balance the federal budget and repeal Obamacare, and stop the green-energy scam and allow domestic energy production, and reign in the excesses of EPA and NLRB and NEA, and that he is very pro-life, and would vote in the Senate every bit as conservatively on the issues, if not more so, than Cruz.
Uh! Sorry! No I don't know that! He is FAR to prone to [[[gulp]]] COMPROMISE for my liking!
I think David Dewhurst personality and leadership skills and speaking skills and experience would make him far more effective Senator than Cruz, and I trust David Dewhurst to represent the interests of the State of Texas and Texan people more.
Personality? Leadership skills? SPEAKING skills? Are you serious or are you trying out for court jester?
Seriously.....
A google search for Dewhurst Rino returned some 800,000 hits.
Here is a brief recap of the first half dozen or so...
And from WHERE: Town hall? Red State? National Review? Main stream GOP Press calling him a RINO. I did not include any of the hard right blogs I found. If the center left of the GOP says he is liberal, sweet Saint Peter, he is more likely a NWO Communist.

And in CLOSING:
Dewhurst is supported by: Bush, Rove, Perry and Huckabee.
Cruz is supported by Sarah Palin.
And ME.
Nuff said!
Well, you’ve finally been able to compose one short reply without belittling the only poster who is actually trying to get to the bottom of this mystery of why conservatives on this forum such as yourself keep saying Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is not a conservative, despite all the evidence that indicates that he is.
Although I did everything you asked, and did so in a civil manner, and went the extra mile with a long post giving you the truth of everything I know of Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and why I think he would be a better U.S. Senator that Ted Cruz, in a ONE by ONE manner, at YOUR OWN request, this is all you have?!
Instead of taking the points one by one, and addressing them, all you do is cut and paste part of the biographical information I gave you on David Dewhurst. Then all you can do is claim some sort of non-specific, subject matter not-identified direct personal understanding YOU had (or thought you had) with Lt. Gov. Dewhurst where YOU got you feelings hurt, Then you use that non-specific incident to call the man a liar.
I am happy for you being such an insider, but this election is not about YOU.
There are no truthful points or evidence that indicate DewCrist is a solid “Conservative.” Spamming this website with lies, deflections, personal attacks and talking points will not change that. Attacking those who know and whom have dealt with DewCrist personally and know who and what he is will also not help your pathetic cause. 99% of FReepers knowledgeable on DewCrist support Ted Cruz. The 1% pimping DewCrist are the RINO and establishment trolls, namely you. You’re on the wrong website, gnat.
As a review of all the posts on this thread proves, I am not the one who is doing the name-calling and personal attacks; it is you Cruz people who engage in that.
All I have been trying to do is find out why Freepers have been fooled into attacking Lt. Gov. Dewhurst, and ask for specificity in the charges they make against him, and nobody has any answers.
This makes me disappointed that some seem to be taking a page from the Romney campaign of unfounded attack ads to destroy his political opponents, as he did to Gingrich last Deember, and as he did to every conservative he faced.
I am on the right website, especially when it comes to exposing those who deal in unfounded and nefarious attacks on good conservatives for the sole purpose of trying to get their candidate elected in a Republican primary.
Your questions have been answered ad infinitum. They conflict with your dishonest narrative and marching orders given to you by the DewCrist campaign. Your boy is a phony, a liar, and a loser. Another Willardcrat.
No, the truths I posted about David Dewhurst in post #58 at the request of bigun were not answered, at least prior to my making this post back to you. I will check the thread periodically to see if bigun can refute any of the truths I listed about Dewhurst, one-by-one.
What was posted instead was just more name-calling and innuendo. I hope you noticed I have not made the same sort of negative attacks against your man Cruz.
But, thanks for exposing what the Cruz campaign appears to be made of.
You can shove it innuendo.
Would you like some cheese to go with that whine ?
Well, even though your six sentence post did not address the points one by one that I made for you in post #58 demonstrating that Lt. Gov. is a conservative, I will still respond to your post, now as I choose to.
Immature minds despise compromise, but without it, the world would come to a standstill. If I cannot have it 100% my way and you cannot have it 100% yours, perhaps there is a middle ground we can both accept. It is as simple as that, and every day and in every way in our lives we are compromising, adjusting, and adapting in order to get the things done with others that need to be done.
It was you that equated Dewhurst with the admittedy liberal Strauss. And in my opinion, we need even less folks like Cruz in Washington right now. Let’s keep Cruz in Texas where good use can be made of his enormous lawyering ability.
As far as your “court jester” line goes, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst has leadership, and executive, ability as his success in the private sector and in government demonstrate, so his past actions have given us reasons to believe he can lead. Again, are you claiming some more insider knowledge to knock Lt. Gov. Dewhurst’s winning personality? And I have personnally heard Dewhurst speak and when he did speak, he spoke well.
No, not ‘nuff said.
Some of the Bushes support Cruz.
Put that in your crack-pipe and smoke it.
I love when the mask covering the true face of the trolls come out. The haughty, elitist and oh-so-sophisticated arrogance of RINOs demonstrated by such comments. Thanks for illustrating again why folks like DewCrist have absolutely no business serving in the Senate (or anywhere else for that matter). "Compromise" that RINOs like him champion is why we are now almost sixteen trillion dollars in debt. If "maturity" gives us this nation-killing dividend, let us have 100 "immature" Senators screaming, "No more !"
I think these Dewhurst numbers are inflated, but I still am not confident that Cruz can make up near that much ground this close to the election.
Amen.
The future of Romney Republicanism.
Really bad form there, fieldmarshaldj.
I should have realized you are a tattletale as well as a name-caller. Why did you take a sentence out of context and post it instead of posting the entire post to your buddies?
“Immature minds despise compromise, but without it, the world would come to a standstill. If I cannot have it 100% my way and you cannot have it 100% yours, perhaps there is a middle ground we can both accept. It is as simple as that, and every day and in every way in our lives we are compromising, adjusting, and adapting in order to get the things done with others that need to be done.”
That concept appears not understandable to you, and refusal to understand the reality of it and accept it is why conservatives have gotten bowled over politically for so long, and have thus actually contributed to us getting 16 trillion dollars in debt. The fact is, you do not understand what it even means, nor do you even know who the great conservative person was who I paraphrased.
“I think these Dewhurst numbers are inflated, but I still am not confident that Cruz can make up near that much ground this close to the election.”
I don’t think he can either, because most Texas republicans know Dewhurst is at least as conservative as Cruz, and the Cruz attack technique is turning voters off instead of winning them.
