A super PAC supporting Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst's Senate campaign has released an internal poll showing him at 57 percent in the GOP race with less than three weeks left until the primary.
The poll shows Dewhurst at 57 percent, followed by Ted Cruz at 16 percent, Tom Leppert at 12 percent, and Craig James at 4 percent. Eleven percent were undecided.
If Dewhurst finishes with over 50 percent of the vote on May 29, he wins the nomination outright. If not, the top two finishers will advance to a July 31 runoff.
The Perception Insight poll of 800 Texas Republican primary voters was conducted for the Texas Conservatives Fund from May 1-7 and carries a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.

I'm voting for Cruz.
Didn’t mean to say that you had; it was other posters in favor of Cruz that were doing all the name-calling and crazy stuff.
OK
“In fact, the only thing Dewhurst campaign has said that could be construed as negative was the truth that Cruz is overzealously representing his client with appeals in a court case his client lost involving Cruz client stealing an American Companys business property.”
First, that is NOT the only allegation dewhurst has made.
Second, Dewhurst campaign has been relentlessly unfair and negative towards Cruz, making mountains out of the molehill of legal representation by Cruz’ lawfirm.
- because Cruz worked for some time in a large lawfirm and some of the other lawyers gave money to Democrat causes, Cruz was attacked for being a puppet of Soros. This is ABSURD guilt by association.
- second, the above “Cruz’ client” is a lie. It was a client of Cruz’ lawfirm and he was not involved in the decisions Dewhurst accuses him of. Basically, Cruz is being accused of the professional work of others in the lawfirm.
the Dewhurst smear machine is the main thing he has going right now.
“Dewhurst has done all he could to limit the taxes and spending. “
Those who observe the lege and see how the Senate goes ‘soft’ on House initiatives know this not to be the case.
Tattletale? This is a public ally viewable message board.
Don’t want people to see your embarrassing RINO loving posts and call you out on them? Then don’t make them.
Being a Texan, Dewhurst, the life-long politician who has been living off the government dole for years, has name recognition. But, I don’t believe this poll. I believe that there will be a run-off between Dewhurst and Cruz and Cruz will ultimately prevail.
Guess you are just ignorant of freeper courtesy when it comes to pinging the person you are having the discussion with.
But I really have no problem with anybody reading every post I made on that thread, IN FULL.
So, now run back and report to your Reichsmarshaldj.
"So, now run back and report to your Reichsmarshaldj."
You mean like how you just ignored courtesy towards me in this screed, gnat ?
(Oh, and btw, your thinly-veiled Nazi ref means you just invoked Godwin's Law. Have a nice day)
Me thinks I’m beginning to get the scent of a TROLL!
VERY good at what he does but a TROLL none-the-less.
Your post does not contain the whole story on Cruz’ firm representation of the client who stole the American Company’s business property, and you have no knowledge of the level of Cruz personal involvement in that case. For you to claim otherwise is a lie.
Cruz and his supporters are in fact the ones who have run a relentlessly negative campaign against Dewhurst.
But, I will not be drawn into opening fire on Cruz because I don’t want to damage the future elective office prospects of a republican who may prove to be as fine a conservative as Dewhurst when he finds the appropriate office to run for.
“... Dewhurst, the life-long politician who has been living off the government dole for years,”
Whaaat?
FYI, Dewhurst was successful in the private sector until he was 53 years old before he ran for his first elective office, and he now serves as the Lt. Governor of Texas, which pays a salary of $7,200.00 per year.
I’ve seen some of your good posts, but please don’t fall for the Cruz team’s negative campaign and false meme about Dewhurst. If you think Cruz will win out, ok - but if he does not, Texas still comes out the winner if Dewhurst prevails.
Whatever are you talking about?
I told Wimpy to report back to you.
Anyway, expect the same courtesy you first show others.
What am I is sick of idiots whining whenever someone pings someone else to a post. Once again, if you post crap you can expect to get mocked for it.
And you know what you can do with your boy Dewhurst, shove him. Freepers support the conservative choice in the primary.
Freepers like you are ready to glom onto any Ivy-League lawyer that claims to be conservative and throw a real conservative Texan under the bus at the say-so of one Bush and a disgruntled party hack. You wouldn’t know how to make the right conservative choice on your own.
As we went over the last time we talked your glowing option of Dewhurst is in the small minority here at Free Republic. If you don’t like it, tough.
And no endorsement from a friggin Bush or Palin if that’s who you were calling a hack, means a damn thing to me, I’m glad they’re supporting the candidate I’d be supporting anyway.
The one’s clearly lying are the Dewhurst flaks and his campaign, peddling what is really a sorry and pathetic negative attack.
“But, I will not be drawn into opening fire on Cruz”
... only after repeating the lie about Cruz?
This race is NOT Mourdock vs. Lugar. As important as the Indiana race was, Mourdock is good but not as good as Cruz and Lugar was no good like Dewhurst but was at least 80 years old with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. What on earth does the Senate GOP need with another money-obsessive GOP elite greedhead being nominated like Dewhurst. Texas owes a lot more to the GOP and to America than plain boring vanilla moderate elitist like Dewhurst. Ted Cruz is a lot more.
Forty years ago, radicals coined the saying: If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Dewhurst is part of the problem. In Texas, Cruz is the solution in 2012.
Impy, just because there are four Cruz supporters on this forum busy attacking Lt. Gov. Dewhurst does not mean the one freeper who is countering their attack ads is necessarily in a small minority. In fact, amongst informed conservatives down here in Texas, we know Dewhurst is not the crazed liberal the Cruz supporters are trying to make him out to be.
So, feel free to side with your buddy who has a personal ax to grind with Dewhurst and the others who leap to the attack on behalf of any would-be politician who says the magic words tea-party.
Like so many of the posters who read through this thread, you have bought into the groundless assertions of the Cruz campaign who allege without evidence that Dewhurst is as you put it “no good like Lugar”.
Every time I ask them for specifics as to exactly what it is that Dewhurst has actually done that makes him not conservative - they have no answers. With Lugar, Mourdock had plenty of reasons he could give as to why Lugar was no conservative. Same with the Specter/Toomey, Rubio/Crist, and even the Castle/O’Donnell primaries. But there is nothing specific that these Cruz people will ever tell you that would back up their claims against Dewhurst.
So, if you want to build a political team and field a slate of “tea-party” office-holders to back you, or a certain candidate in the future, just say so.
And you are not fooling anyone by continuing with the line of Dewhurst as GOP elite. Dewhurst came from very modest means, public schools, state university, and made it in the private sector. Cruz went to private school, then Ivy League, and was appointed to government jobs. Not saying he didn’t merit any of that - just that he might be the elite candidate more than Dewhurst!
Read every comment on every thread about this race or about Dewhurst in general. I stand by my statement.
