Have You Seen the Attention-Grabbing New TIME Cover?
The Blaze ^ | 5-10[12 | Madeline Morgenstern

Posted on 05/10/2012 2:41:46 PM PDT by CitizenM

Time magazine is out with its latest cover, one that’s sure to get its fair share of attention. Headlined “Are You Mom Enough?”, it features a blonde, skinny jean-wearing woman — and a preschool-age boy unmistakably latched on to her breast.

The cover goes with the magazine’s feature story on “attachment parenting” — a philosophy designed to foster a secure bond to the child. Co-sleeping, or the “family bed,” and breastfeeding well past babyhood are sometimes the hallmarks of attachment parenting.

The mother pictured on the cover is Jamie Lynne Grumet of Los Angeles and her 3-year-old son.

“I don’t consider breastfeeding immodest at all—I’m not shy about doing it in public,” she told Time.

I reccomend not going to that site (blaze) because of some kind of virus/malware attack I just recieved- screen flashes up with a warning saying Microsoft Antivirus has detected a virus or malware yadah yadah. you can and should EXIT the screen, which you can surprisingly do, then run your own security scan. Mine found nothing, and todays history showed no problems.

I have four children and we have practiced ‘attachment parenting’ with all of them. My wife breastfed all of them until they were in their three’s. I have no regrets about this.

While I reserve judgement on this woman until I read the article, I would suggest the critics of extended breastfeeding do some research on the benefits derived from this practice.

ROFLOL! She might as well claim natural family planning since it prevents ovulation when done daily.

You only want to breast feed to that age and slightly beyond if you are living in a “famine” situation and the food is limited and you want to give your child the best nutrition for their developing brain.

My wife's grand mother had a baby that starved to death during the great depression. I ignorantly asked her, "why she didn't breast feed the child". Her answer should have been obvious to me, she said, "I was starving too and when you are starving the breast milk dries up".

Bingo... we’ve got a winner... cultural desensitization time.
“It’s just the backdoor to pedophilia”

Really, it’s Mom’s kitchen door with apple pie on the side to pedophilia....this has been mapped out. I wonder how long the interlude to the next kulture desensitizing “cure.”

The other thread on this topic (above) is bawdy.
They’re using expressions like women “flashing their breasts” and “spraying their milk around.”
I’m thinking they’re Peruvians, from Lake Titicaca most likely.

I breastfed my four babies until they were around six MONTHS old. I did talk to the pediatrician about breast feeding(a couple of them actually) they all said the same thing....breastfeeding gives your baby important immunities for about three months until theirs kick in...after that its not necessary and they don’t get anything from it that they can’t get from formula. basically if you want to breastfeed after three months its not for the vitamins and nutrients its for other reasons.

I hope that mom plans to homeschool cause her baby boy is marked now! He’s gonna get his ass kicked daily. hope she’s happy!

this has been mapped out.

BINGO!

After the norming of homosexuality is complete, the next "civil right" on the prog agenda is adult-child sex.

You have to wonder, is that kid going to become one of those “adult babies” who are scamming the Social Security and disibility programs?

What's funny is that "political correctness" dictates that it is improper for a woman to breastfeed her infant child in pubic. It is seen by feminists as a woman being locked into a traditional submissive role. However, if it is a man nursing a child with a "man nursing bra" (I am sorry to say this is not a joke) or a woman breast-feeding a child well past the weaning age, then it is okay because it "empowers" women.

Anything perverse is celebrated by the Left. Anything traditional is under attack.

People can be incredibly rude! And frankly stupid.

I breastfed for one year.
No, I wasn't ashamed, or hiding a “natural act” when I sought a private area, and covered my torso with a baby blanket when breastfeeding outside of our home.

My baby refused to drink from a bottle, even one filled with my own milk. She also rejected pacifiers.

Her demonstrated ability to manipulate a sippy cup coincided with her tendency to bite me with her new teeth, just for giggles!
Following the advise of my pediatrician, she was slowly weaned over a short period, and on the decided date, we took a vacation to grandmothers house, and the physically painfull process (for me) was accomplished.

It really does hurt, when you finally do stop breastfeeding!

All that said, I find it odd that some people claim some kind of “health and/or bonding benefit” for breast feeding beyond the first six weeks or so.
It is certainly cheaper and easier to breastfeed if you can, instead of formula feeding. Better depends upon the mothers food intake.
If the mother can choose and controll her diet, and also refrain from consuming irritating foods and other substances, breastmilk is certainly best.

If the situation is otherwise, for whatever reasons, formula feeding would be the better nutritional choice.

Breast or bottle, feeding a baby is best done in a quiet and calm environment, to encourage proper digestion. And for comfort and bonding purposes.

Either way, bottle or breast, the primary goal is that the baby gets adequately fed in order to grow into a healthy toddler.
