>> While many Latinos are Catholic, a religion which does not condone same sex marriage, Segura said Latinos rarely let their religious beliefs steer their votes. <<

>> I totally agree with the article 100%. Latinos were a big forced behind defeating gay marriage at the ballot box in CA but they will turn around and vote for their pro-gay marriage <<

I agree as well, most of the Hispanics I know are socially liberal and publicly embrace gay pride parades, Obama's health care mandate, etc. I also know a handful of socially conservative Hispanics who usually vote Republican, but they are FAR outnumbered by the number of liberal Hispanics I know.

I get really tired of hearing the GOP talking point about how Hispanics are "pro-life, pro-traditional family, social conservatives who are natural Republicans". It's a nice soundbite, but looking at real life voters I know, it just isn't true. If anything, black voters are actually more socially conservative than Hispanic voters. That's ironic because blacks vote 90-95% RAT whereas Hispanics vote 60-70% RAT, but I can tell you I've met alot more blacks who are "pro-life and pro-traditional marriage" (but routinely vote for Obama and other far left Dems anyway) than I've met Hispanics who agree with me on those issues. Perhaps they are very "socially conservative" in their countries of origin in Latin America, but I knows I know who grew up in the Chicago area are very liberal.

And yes, Prop 8 in California is a perfect example. The media reacted in shock because a bunch of black Obama voters crossed over and supported the amendment to ban gay marriage, even as they voted for Obama on the same ballot. You didn't hear about a massive groundswell of support for Prop. 8 in the "Hispanic community", because there wasn't any. The nation's largest Spanish language newspaper even published an editorial AGAINST Prop. 8 and in favor of gay marriage.

Hispanic Catholics seem much more left-wing than their non-hispanic counterparts. Take away the "Hispanic Catholics" and Obama LOST the Catholic vote (this statistic is ignored by everyone, including freepers. Hmm) I wonder why "pro-life and pro-family" Catholic church officials aren't doing more to speak out to THAT segment of the "Catholic vote" and telling the "church going Hispanics" them their voting records conflict with their faith.

I have met a few moderate/liberal black Republicans in Maryland but that is a small %. Most blacks have a very strong trust in the Federal government to protect them and help them, and history shows why they would, They see the the 1960s civil rights era and the FBI vs the KKK in Alabama case as a model.

as I posted on another thread, Republicans can take advantage of Obama’s confession by running independent organization issue ads in black and Latino areas in the South that show Obama sucking up to rich looking white gays and Hollywood gay types for $$$$, while things got worse in their areas under Obama. But Rs must understand the dynamics, Turnout in those groups in 2012 can be made to be much lower than it was in 2008, much like Romney will repress some turnout on the R side..

Another argument to use for above,:ask blacks if they are insulted when libs claim that gays are the new Jim Crowe era blacks. I find that one really works well, See if they are willing trivialize their own civil rights history to support the Democrat LGBT revolution, and this can be fun too, because it hits a great nerve,

It could be so easy, but Republicans big R are pretty dense.
