Its no secret that one of the largest blocs of people pressing for so-called gun control is the culturally (aka not-so-religious) American Jewish community. This confounds many observers who would expect that Jews, with such a stunning history of oppression and murder by humanitys villains, would cling tenaciously to personal firearms and the ability to protect themselves as the Hebrew Scriptures instruct.
In reaction to the Holocaust, American Jews adopted the phrase Never Again! If actions mean anything, they dont believe it. Thats for someone else to do. How do Jews expect to put teeth behind the words Never Again! if not with the ability to apply and project personal force when righteous -- and necessary -- for survival?
Why then do so many American Jews hate guns and fear gun ownership so much?
Our research identifies ten reasons why these Jews feel the way they do about self defense in general, firearms specifically and your own right to keep and bear arms.

Look, Jews (and Catholics) were heavily discriminated against by Protestants when they first came over and for many decades after that. Naturally, they’re going to be attracted to a party, The Democrat Party, that welcomes them. It’s difficult to determine how many Jews would be conservatives if it weren’t for people like Henry Ford, the so-called saviors of Christianity, the KKK, and other people and orgs who made their hatred of Jews and other non-WASPs a very open secret.
Sorry, but they brought their European liberalism and unionism to America, evil America did not ruin them, it was one of the things that Protestants created America for, to escape European leftism.
The Democrat Party that they were devoted to WAS the party of the KKK.

To be sure there were plenty of leftists in the Jewish immigrants of the late 1800s and early 1900s. But the fact is, they were made to feel unwelcome by the WASP majority. The KKK wasn’t a force in the big northern cities. The Dem Party eagerly lapped up the Jewish vote while the Republicans missed their chance.
LOL, no, the GOP did not drive away the Jews at the beginning, or the middle, or today, or forever, they are devoted democrats, always have been and always will be.
Blacks were devoted republicans until 1936, Jews have never voted republican.
yeah, I guess that's why Reagan only got 40% of the Jewish vote in 1980. Carter got 40%. lol

I think the author ignored an important factor, most Jews reside in large urban areas and, frankly, don't vote much different from the people around them.
For those worried about the lack of Jewish cowboys and the Goldwaters and the KKK I give you.
hardly allies of the Goldwater clan, though yes, the KKK supported Barry, support he rejected.
Second from the left, Solomon Bibo. Farmer, rancher, and Chief of the Acoma Pueblo
And then theres
I've often been surprised by the exhibits in many museums in the Southwest of western Jews, and recall stumbling on large temporary exihibitions in both Phoenix and Santa Fe on the topic. Not many Jews in the west, but they were around.
Republicans got 27% of the Jewish vote in 1976, 39% in 1980, and 31% in 1984, what is your point, that I used the word democrat in place of liberal?
When I have looked at that, it doesn't hold up, the Jewish vote was always farther left, until this thing with black voting really hardened up.
That seems like an incredibly lame explanation, poof, suddenly in 1920 almost all American Jews suddenly became genetically left wingers, when before they weren't.
Misguided secular Tikkun haOlam
Can you explain why? What has changed for them since 2008?
ObamaCare and Israel.
I will never understand this.
If the Jews were armed during the rise of Nazism and WWII, could the Holocaust have taken place on such a scale.
The story if the Warsaw Ghetto belies this stupidity. The Jews in the WG made sure they were heavily armed... with guns, and when attacked fought a heroic battle at kept the Nazis at bay for a long time, killing off a whole lot of them.
I can't figure out how American Jews, who support the party of personal disarmament, can have any care for a fully armed Israel. But somehow they think that Israel is justified in arming itself for defense against its enemies, and yet Americans should not arm themselves in defense of themselves.
But why Obamacare?
An inordinate amount of Jews are doctors or have doctors in their families. Doctors hate Obamacare. I personal know so mamy that are beside themselves with anger. I’d say 90% of the Jews I know who voted for Obama in 2008 have told me they will not vote fo him again.
Anecdotal, true... But I believe it. As an added point, several Of my friends have told me that they will vote for Romney, but they would not have voted for any of the other primary candidates.
Do you have any idea how many Jews there are on FreeRepublic and how many of .conservative’s best spokespeople are jewish. Therefore, I am I am a bit bent out of shape by your stereotype.
In follow-up to my prior post, I did some pondering as to why Israeli attitudes are so different compared to their European cousins in the states...consider this series of events unique to those that made it to Palestine after the war:
1.) The Holocaust. Surviving near-total industrial elimination of your kin, on a scale unseen before in history.
2.) Palestine/early State of Israel. Escaping to your promised land, and for the first time in life, there’s no secular authority to be servile to (that will protect you, anyway)...quite literally, you and yours are on your own.
3.) Knowledge of those who resisted, be it the Warsaw Ghetto, Sobibor, Dachau, et al....there might even be a few of the survivors in your community.
4.) On a personal level, picking up a surplus Mauser 98K or Sten gun, blasting several bad guys looking to eliminate you and yours, holding the battle line for your village...and for the first time in your life, realizing you’ve resisted AND WON.
I can see that (especially #4, with personal experience of the great force multiplier that is the modern firearm) knocking the scales from a LOT of eyes.
I believe I have read that 90 to 95 percent of Blacks voted for Obama. It would not be an unfair "stereotype" to say that the typical Black supports Obama and will probably vote for him in November.
What can you say about American Jews? How did they vote in 2008 and how do you think they will vote in 2012?
