Mr. Obama’s statement today is a marvel:
“I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I talked to friends and family and neighbors, when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together; when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.”

Uh, Sir, I have two sons in the military right now, both been in Afghanistan, and I know neither they or anyone fighting alongside of them would say they are there on behalf of Barack Obama - they are there on behalf of AMERICA!

Glad I read before I fired off a comment. Mine was going to be identical to yours.
My son serves the Constitution and the American people.
I seem to recall that military personnel, including my two (son and daughter) take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, not to defend him, subject to the UCMJ.
This made me go back and listen to the speech he made in summer 2008 in Colorado Springs, Co (of all places) about the need for a national civilian security force.

......he didn’t say on “our” behalf.....he meant on “his” personal behalf. If you think he was thinking about the “collective” my you really don’t know Zero.
