Fox and Friends just finsihed with former NJ senator Tom Bradley, lamenting the ‘death of compromise’ and blaming the Tea party.
Only problem is that true leaders don’t compromise. The equation then becomes you win and they lose.
Now, check out the records of those spineless Republicans running for office and you will find that compromise is the cereal they eat for breakfast. That’s why we find ourselves in the current shape we are now in.
Get them out.....NOW!
There just wasn't anyone to get behind. The TP didn't blow anything. There just wasn't a viable alternative. Most of our best people are very new on the big stage...first term governors and senators. People can consider Palin as that person, but she would have faced a huge battle to win in the general. She could have done it, but she would have had to reverse public opinion...not easy to do. Other than Romney, the only viable options I can think of are Perry (who blew it), Daniels (who just doesn't have it), Jendal (who blew his opportunity with his terrible debut the 2009 GOP response), or DeMint (who didn't want it).
You have ruined my day by mentioning Trent Lott. I have lived a peaceful and satisfying life over the past years since he was out of office and I didn’t hear his name for years.
But now............I hear it again and my hate index went up 10 points on a scale of 1 to 10 for any and all Republicans who worked with and supported that scumbag.
He is the “bastard” that exemplifies all that is wrong with the Republican party.

Tip O’Neil was a smart politician who did not let the perfect stand in the way of the good. He was smart enough to take what he could get, knowing he would be able to get more later. That kind of “incremental” Liberalism is what has led us to the disastrous situation we find ourselves in today. Lucky for us Harry Reid is too stupid to take what he can get from the mushy moderates in the GOP.

Why Grahamnesty hasn't already been "Lugared" himself is completely beyond me.
If we do well in November, which is likely but not guaranteed, I imagine we will see a number of born again conservatives emerge in the Senate. I hope they feel motivated to act patriotic to keep their jobs, whether or not it’s likely to work (and it will work to some extent, since we can’t target every RINO at once).
I have been media-oriented most of my life. But in the past four years or so, I’ve weaned myself from needing to see confirmation in the daily print or TV of any story I consider to be good news. Now, I don’t even go there for confirmation and I’m more hopeful these days.
Five or six minutes of local TV news in the late afternoon or early evening is more than sufficient local information. And even that seems to be left-slanted these days.
I agree, and also do away with the lifelong retirement benefits, health care, etc.
I don’t plan on dieing for 25-30 years so this individual Tea Party will just keep on voting the various bastards out. I hope my last dieing action is to press the ballot key against some pinheaded RINO or creep DIMocRAT.
I think when the founders did their work, they assumed that nobody would want such a career, especially Senators. After all, they were to be appointed by the legislature and as such they were almost certain to be prominent citizens successful in their own right, businessmen and farmers. Men with other interests in life than being a parasite on the back of the people. It think they imagined that these men, like themselves, would perceive service in government as a duty to be fulfilled then set aside, like sitting on a jury. The idea that people would say "this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!" was simply alien to them. Had they foreseen that possibility at all they'd have surely put in term limits.

Anyway, local tea parties can obviously be very effective to the state level with local races.
As to the national presidential one, how’s that working out for you?
You’re right, and the tea party needs to find an answer to work around, through or apart from the GOPE.
DeMint would have loved it, but he’s not stupid.
I disagree on Palin’s potential in the general and think early, united support could have got her into the race.
I agree that most of the most plausible ‘tea party’ candidates are an election cycle away from viability. The best known ones are mostly closet Establishment types anyway, but certainly we could have done better than putting Mr. Stiff-Candidate Romneycare up against Obama.
No candidate is perfect, but even a Bob McDonnell type would have been a better solution.
