Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement

My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.

We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!

We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!

And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!

Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!

The Republic we save may be our own!!

As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!

We are the resistance!!

Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

Romney is not going to win anyway.

Probably not. I can't stand his lying liberal ass.

But a vote for him is the only one that hurts Obama. Even a little bit.

It sends a message that does NOT end up in the trash can.

Besides.. maybe Romney's magic underpants are REAL and will help him win.

Wise words, Jim.

As Donald Rumsfeld would say, "You go to war with the army you've got - not with the army you wish you had."

The important thing now is, we send Obama and his Communist thugs packing, decisively take over the Senate, and increase our numbers in the House. We need to do this simply to survive and continue the war.

Once we send the main enemies into retreat and reverse the deadly course we find ourselves on, we can concentrate on eliminating the Quisling factions within the GOP and our own ranks and restoring this country to what our Founding Fathers intended it to be - a Constitutional Republic ruled by a sovereign and free people and not by a self-serving fascist oligarchy!

It would be great if the country and the states were made up of Tea Party conservatives, regular conservatives and right-leaning moderates. Unfortunately, every Republican president has to deal with:

Tea Party conservatives

regular conservatives

right-leaning moderates

left-leaning moderates

regular moderates

Democrats

Socialist/Democrats

Marxist/Democrats

Marxists

Socialists

Anarchists

moderate Democrats

right-leaning Democrats

Independents

and

complete morons

Being a Republican president is the hardest job in the World. Reagan had to cut deals with the Democrat Congress and Bush had to compromise with both. parties to keep the finances for the WOT going. Meanwhile, the entire body of people who are against you never stops attacking.

Its lose-lose.

Now if someone could post a “How to vote for Romney without throwing up on your ballot” it would be appreciated.

I think just staring at the listing for 0bama/Biden might just be enough for you to endure it. Imaging out country after another 4 years of 0bama makes me nauseous enough to endure almost anything.

Broken-Glass Republican here.

I’m glad we are calling a truce. I hated to see FR torn apart and such low morale.

I’m late to the party and this may have already been suggested:

My hope and dream, and those of many I talk to, is that before the next election we form a huge, powerful conservative coaltion with an extremely well funded super PAC. Before the next mid terms and especially before the next Presidential, we have a plan in place to “pre-vet” and pre select OUR conservative candidate. We have a platform that any potential candidate to our “wing” of the GOP, or new “Country” party, or whatever we call it must pledge, and we have leadership that looks at those who dare call themselves conservative to see what they’ve really stood for. Set a standard for what is acceptable % compliance and then from among the available candidates, vet them and come up with ONE that will run either within the GOP against whoever the GOPe decides to put up for “their” candidate, or on a third party ticket. I think we could take back the GOP but we cant do it with this continual circular firing squad. As someone said, even Reagan might not have gotten the nomination in this climate.

Conservative Candidate selection, DONE BEFORE THE PRIMARY SEASON STARTS!

ONE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE to go up against the GOPe choice!

How do we select them out of the media eye, yet include true conservatives in the selection process? I don’t know — but we better figure it out, or we are going to get even more liberal/socialist candidates every year from now on, if we even survive to another election.

JimRob said to “vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots.”

Well, you know.. I've known Jim for a while now and I don't really think he would presume to tell me or anyone else how to vote.

Actually, I think he would be appalled at the notion of doing so.

Jim can certainly persuade and recommend and dictate what HIS site is used for,
but I've never seen him try to tell anyone how to vote. He fought for your FReedom to choose that.

You can take it however you like and more power to you.

Me, I reckon this ain't fantasy football. You can pretend it is all you like.

So how about the recently banned Romney supporters who long ago recognized the futility of a third party. You going to reinstate them?

I will do what I have to to get Obama out of office. I’ll lose my mind and my country if he gets another four years. And I will keep my eye on Sarah Palin for 2016 as the backlash to her may be a little less by then if Obama is out. The woman was born to be president and for four years I’ll continue to urge her to run. In the meantime, it’s a conservative movement from the bottom up. Infiltration and domination.

I’ve already contributed to FR this FReepathon. It’s vital. Thx, JimRob for your wisdom.

I have read the you either vote to rid us of Obama or you don't...I guess putting it as pro Obama might hurt your feelings, but it is one way to look at it.

It is the way to look at it, an agenda-ized perspective, to compensate for the fact that in voting for Romney, you're voting for a liberal.

A more complete way to look at it is that by casting your vote for someone other than Obama OR Romney in the General, neutral between those two, you are using your vote to weaken either liberal victory.

It is gratifying to see FR following JimRob's reasonable proposal of a general truce among our conservative forces. Heartwarming.

Some suggested themes for future 'Unity Threads' ...

Abraham Lincoln: Liberator or Tyrant?
Microsoft or Apple?
George W. Bush: Conservative or not?
RINO: the conclusive definition.

Carry on.

Good post. Thanks for posting it.

I do think you are on to something, pegging Responsibility2nd as an Alinskyite. He certainly seems to have those tactics down well. Sad that he uses them so fiercely against any conservative that would dare suggest Ron Paul is a less evil choice than Romney.

The Primary has not come to California yet. When it does on June 5th, it looks like my Republican Candidate choices will be down to only Mitt Romney or Ron Paul.

Electing Romney will seal the deal for the Rino Republican Elite for probably the remainder of my lifetime. Conservative influence over the Republican party will then have been quite effectively neutered.

Still being a voter of the Anybody but Obama and Anybody but Romney persuasion, and no longer having the option of Palin, Cain, Santorum, Bachman or Gingrich, etc. I will grit my teeth and vote for the last non Socialist/Marxist/Fascist/Statist Republican candidate standing, warts, flaws and all. (Not Romney)

This nation’s worst enemies are not Obama or Romney. They are the people that would vote for Socialism/Marxism/Fascism/State-ism over our Constitution.

In my opinion, a great many Romney Primary voters, knowingly or otherwise, fall into this category.

Romney as the presumptive nominee shows that our electorate has yet to learn from the mistake that Obama represents.

In the General, I think it likely that Romney will name a non Natural Born citizen to the VP slot, to provide ongoing cover for Obama. He won’t get my vote then, either, although I can and do understand the temptation to perceive Romney as the lesser evil Compared to Obama. (or as simply a chance to get in a few more years of preparation before the SH** finally Hits The Fans that both of these candidates have steered us towards their entire political careers.)

And no, Responsibility2nd, I too am not and never have been a 911 Truther, Pro-Abortion, Anti Military, Gay Agenda supporting, Drug Legalization supporting Paul-bot.

I AM an Anti-Socialism, Anti-Marxism, Anti-Fascism, Anti-State-ism, Pro Limited Government, Pro US Constitution voter.

Jim declared a truce. Perhaps it’s time to give the Alinsky tactics against those who love the Constitution at least as much as you do, a rest.

I am almost as depressed over Romney being the nominee as I was when Obama was elected. I feel like we are fighting a losing battle. The libs have all the power and seemingly the money. Maybe God has just abandoned the United States now. I don’t have much confidence in the future of America.

If you think you will accomplish anything by leaving the "traditional RINOs in the dust", you are seriously delusional. People you call RINOs are striving for the same things conservatives and Tea Party voters are, they just think there's a different way to get there. They have to be dragged along and encouraged to see what we see.

You need EVERY vote to do anything and to break off into little factions is political suicide. Russia has a ton of disparate parties. They insure the Communists win everytime.
