While formally suspending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that he believes presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney is conservative enough when compared to the most radical, leftist president in American history.
And my answer is simple: compared to Barack Obama?
You know this is not a choice between Mitt Romney and Ronald Reagan. This is a choice between Mitt Romney and the most radical, leftist president in American history.
Is Romney a liberal plant to get Obozo re-elected?
Is the entire Republicrat apparatus nothing but a complicit organization whose goal is the same as the Democrats?
Tune in tomorrow for another installment of ‘American Conspiracy.’
I don’t like Romney by any means. He sucks.
But lets look at it this way. Either you vote for Romney against Obama or it may be the last chance you ever get to vote.
You people who are against holding your nose and voting for Romney are turning the country over to the Muslim marxist for another 4 years, 4 years in which he can run wild without worrying about running again.
I say Vote for Romney now and get started building a third party that eally does have Conservative values. Remember Romney won the candidacy because he had half of the Republican party on his side the whole time. This mess we are now in with isn’t Romney’s fault , it is the fault of the GOP. Stay in the GOP and we will face the same thing in 4 years. We mustform a new party, the old one just sucks too much.
It is irrational to judge someone by their words when their words are contradicted by their actions.
In criminal actions, every defendant gets judgment day religion. If we sentenced them based upon their words, our prisons would be empty.
Romney, by his actions has demonstrated his big government, anti freedom, socialist agenda. Hi words, today are nothing more than judgment day religion.
Suddenly there is coverage for Newt. No, I am not persuaded. I prefer my ideological enemies outside the gate, not inside the keep.
No, I am not voting for the governor whose record is to the left of Governor Jimmy Carter and Governor Bill Clinton.
“THERE WILL BE NO OTHER DAY.”
That is all you pants wetters have to shill for your left wing spawn of a Mexican chicken ranch. DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!
Liars, cowards, dupes and fools.
I will offer Bishop Willard as much support in November as he offered unborn ‘gentiles’ in Massachusetts.
I wasn’t satisfied with any of the candidates (and certainly not Romney), but among those remaining toward the end, I preferred Gingrich. My position, though — and ideological purity — is of little importance compared with the position of the country. That position is dire, as I think all of us here agree, and will get worse under a lame-duck Obama presidency.
Look at what he’s done already, and imagine what will be in store for us when the restraints of having to fool people until after re-election are no longer there. Even if Romney were as bad as Obama, which I don’t concede, Romney wouldn’t be in that position. “This is a choice between Mitt Romney and the most radical, leftist president in American history.” Of course. That’s the key point. Having a pseudo-conservative Republican as president would present some problems for the conservative movement. I don’t think that would be nearly as bad, though, as having Obama and his cohorts continuing to run the country.
If I vote for Romney, it in no way implies my approval of all his positions or even of him as a person. It simply means I considered that the less harmful alternative.
With all due respect that's right up there as one of the stupidest statements I've read on FR in a long time.
This idea, shared by others here, that voting for someone while at the same time disapproving of his positions and him as a person is idiotic.
Has it occurred to any of you brain surgeons that the reason you have that choice is because each and everyone of you are morally rudderless sheep without principle or conviction who can be manipulated by anyone with a R behind their name..
On second thought don't answer that, I'm sick of unprincipled, idiotic, drivel coming from folks who call themselves conservatives but when push comes to shove cant walk the walk...
How is it up there on your high horse?
Ever fall off?
Long way to the ground.
I try very hard to find the truth before I post...the entire truth...a portion of it doesn’t suffice.
Like my tagline says, so once I believe I’ve found it, I hold to and speak without fer.
Both Romney and Obama are horrible.
I believe the facts to date, and projected into the near future, demonstrate Obama clearly to be the greater danger to our survival as America.
I agree Newt is correct on that point.
To reach that is easy, imo, but you have to extract the political parties out of it, the arguments between conservatives and RINOS, Mitt’s flip flopping, lying, etc. And nobody knows the truth on Mitt better than Newt, and Governor Perry. They chronicled it. They suffered their fates, in part, from it.
When you pull that away from the comparison to the Obama threat to our survival, and imagine a second Obama term with little constraint...he will do as he pleases without regard to Congress, and we don’t yet have the Senate flat out assured, either, and his appeasement of enemies and determination to remake this nation come hell or high water, there you have it.
I so despise Romney the politician I wouldn’t vote for him unless, personally, my back was to the wall in a drop dead swing state that was hanging by a thread to go either way, and the race was razor thin tight.
I would then consider voting strategically, for my nation to have a second chance beyond Obama.
I find Ron Paul repugnant in some very important ways. I understand that FReepers have voted for him, for instance in VA, to try to ball things up for Romney and the E machine, who otherwise have zero use for Paul.
In Texas, he will be the only non Romney on the ballot who hasn’t dropped out.
I will either vote Paul...ugh...or not vote.
The truth is, uncomfortable as it may be to some of you, there’s little difference in it being ok to vote for Ron Paul in certain narrow circumstances for strategic reasons, and it being defensible to vote for Mitt in certain narrow circumstances for strategic reasons.
Sure, you can attack my seperate defense of possibley voting for either Romney against Obama or Paul against Romney, but when you take them together and try to say one is fine and the other is traitorous to the conservative cause, that can’t be true.
Both are forbotten, or both are defensible. Think about it.
I can name what is reprehensible about Paul, or even crazy, but that’s not my purpose. If you don’t know by now, I can’t help you.
“speak without fe(a)r”
This needs to stop Now! There is no more room for compromise...the bottom line has already been reached. The Republican party has lost it's mind if they think we are going to vote for the most in-your-face, fumbling, sleazy liar Democrat with an "R" that has ever been presented in the party since the forming of the party. Yes, they are asking for a defeat. Whether it's planned by the left leaning "progressive" GOP-e is anyone's guess.
Have you no end to what you expect people to give up? What's the next level of lowering the standards?...."Well he might be a pedophile but he is better than a Democrat". No..there is no room for this type of "progress" toward the demoralization of the US.
You don’t need to give up anything, in my view.
I wouldn’t waste a single second on arguing with you. I say do what you believe to be right.
The problem comes when someone attacks the decision of another, who has assessed it and believes Obama unrestrained = a destroyed America, who lives in a swing state upon which hinges this fate, and casts a strategic vote against Obama.
I think each has to do what they believe, and that either decision is defensible for that individual in the situation they inhabit.
Texas isn’t a swing state. In the delayed primary that will finally happen later this month, the only non Romney on the ballot who hasn’t dropped out is Ron Paul. I will either not vote in the primary, or will...shudder...vote for Paul, who on some counts I find reprehensible and scary.
TX will vote to oust Obama...they and our nation don’t need my vote for Romney to do that.
Others are in a completely different spot.
I don’t attack you, or them.
Thanks for the new tag line, Sec. of State Gingrich!
This. The stakes are that high.
Gingrich says it. Palin says it. I wonder if FR can get behind it.
How can something that’s true be “one of the stupidest statements I’ve read on FR in a long time”? It’s true that I don’t approve of Romney, and that I preferred Gingrich previously. I’d rather have Romney than Obama, though.
Calling what I said “idiotic drivel” doesn’t make it so or make you any more intelligent than I am. “...can[’]t walk the walk..”? I’m not interested in making empty gestures. You’ve said nothing to convince me that giving up our last chance to prevent Obama from being reelected is the better position to take.
Great question -- the problem is, under either President, the House could go back to the Dogs in 2014, and with enough RINOs in the Senate, all hell could break loose in those last two years.
Furthermore, there's no doubt whoever gets the job will get 1, if not 3 (!), Supremes in the next four years.
