Earlier this past week you may have heard on Glenn Becks radio show Michelle Bachman recounted a story that last Sunday (April 22nd) she was in Afghanistan and stood over a young man who had just lost his left leg in an IED attack.
Let me tell you the rest of the story, that young man had to be PFC. Justin Lansford, (22 years old) whose vehicle was hit by a IED earlier that day. Justin is a close and personal friend of my family, having known him since he was about 14 years old.
He steady dated my daughter through High School and went to all the proms and dances with her. He was an accomplished High School athlete (football) for Brookwood High School here in Georgia. She was his sponsor at his Confirmation. We have been blessed to know him.
As writing this, Justin is fighting for his life at a hospital in Germany. He lost his left leg just above the knee, his spleen was removed, lacerated liver, multiple broken ribs, two fractured femurs, punctured lung and fractured spine. With all that, he still is a fighter and refuses to succumb.
This past Friday, he was to be transferred to Walter Reed but unfortunately has developed A.R.D.S and pneumonia. He remains in a medically induced coma in Germany where doctors now have requested his parents come. They are now there as of this past Saturday.
He is now in the hands of the doctors and God.
On this past Friday, he was to be transferred to Walter Reed but unfortunately in addition to his wounds he has developed A.R.D.S and pneumonia. He remains in a medically induced coma in Germany where doctors now have requested his parents come. They are now there as of this past Saturday.
The brought him momentarily out of his medically induced coma and when he saw his Mom at his side, tears began to run down his cheek. His vitals started to jump erratically so the doctors immediately put him back under.
Today, this AM they irrigated his wounds and did some more minor exporitory surgery. although critical, he remains stable now. If all goes well, they will ship him to Walter Reed tomorrow(Tuesday)morning.
He is now in the hands of the doctors and God.
Please pass this update to all and a giant thank you to all those who continue to pray for him. He needs it now more than ever.
Ive known this young man since he was 14 years old, he is the perfect All American boy.....
OMGosh. Praying for Justin in Missouri.
Prayers going up. (Please call in all prayer warriors)
Prayers sent
Prayers for Justin and those other wounded warriors. Tell my brother in arms, we love him, as brothers and sisters love one another. What can we do to help? Lost my son in law to an IED in Iraq, never had the chance to meet him. Bring our boys home and Nuke em.
Bless Justin and you.
Do any of you have the prayer list?
May God have give him the strength to recover.
Why are we still in Afghanistan?
What purpose is it serving?
Why are we wasting our youth on this country that doesn’t want us and isn’t fit to shine their boots.
Urgent prayers needed for family and hero.

Daily prayers for Justin and his family.
Prayers up. Thank you for sharing his story.
On a positive note, the first time Kim called out his name and told him to try and ...calm down. He actually opened his eyes and turned his head to look at her. He the turned his head and looked at me when I spoke to him. After that he closed his eyes again and was trying to fight off the pain and the discomfort of the ET tube. Kim told him to squeeze her hand when he couldn't stand the pain and he did. This was a great step forward neurologically in knowing he can follow commands and move all his extremeties.
The bad part of this however (aside from seeing him in all that pain) is that the process increased Justin's ventillatory requirements, so they cancelled his flight home today. We are VERY optimistic, however, that he will be on Friday's flight. I think he is progressing well, they just didn't want to take any chances during the flight and at this point the care he is receiving here is no different than what they would be doing if he was at Bethesda.
Kim, Chris and I find it difficult to sleep and have been walking around in a fog. We are trying to take care of ourselves, but this is just emotionally draining. The only thing getting us through this is all the prayers, wishes and kind words for and about Justin. Thanks to everyone for your sustaining love.
Prayers up for PFC Justin Lansford, his family and friends. Please keep us posted.
Lord Jesus, we pray for PFC Justin Lansford. He is fighting for his life, and if You intervene and grant his life, he will be fighting to understand and to continue without despair. In Your wisdom and foresight, we pray for Your intervention. We pray that You would guide in all the types of healing necessary: heart, body, soul, and mind. We pray in Your holy name; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.
Praying for Justin and his family. What a brave, brave young man.
Prayers sent up for this brave young man. Keep us posted
“..Michelle Bachman recanted a story..”
Hope this was intended to read that she “recounted a story”.
Not trying to be the spelling police, but it is a critical difference.
So very sad. Sending prayers for Justin’s healing and comfort. Glad his parents are by his side and that he knows they are there so he knows his loved ones are there with him. May our Jesus heal him through our prayers and may his family also be given strength and comfort during this time none of us want to experience. God BLess our troops and their families.
You are correct, recounted is the correct word, auto-spell check can sometimes be my enemy....
My wife and I have hardly slept since we got word from Justin’s parents right after they were notified a week ago Monday, blame it on sloppy typing, lack of sleep or auto-spell....
But really, the one comment you make regarding this post is to make grammatical corrections? Sigh.....
