Al Armendariz said Monday morning that he had submitted a letter of resignation on Sunday.
Armendariz was already a lightning rod for conservative critics of the EPA in Texas before last week, when a video became public in which Armendariz spoke of "crucifying" oil and gas companies that broke the law.
Members of Congress and Texas officials jumped on Armendariz's words as proof that he had run the EPA's regional office as an anti-industry zealot.
The environmental engineer, on leave from a professor post at Southern Methodist University, sent a letter Monday to his friends and supporters:

“He was TOLD to go....”
He may have been told to go, but the reason he got appointed in the first place was that he would crucify gas and oil companies along with hussein. He didn’t just fall on the sword for his master—he actually believed what he preached.
SMU is/was SCUM just like ALL of the old SWC Schools! GO BIG EIGHT!
So unlike whites who are cowards when it comes to discussing racial issues, he’s a brave new world intellectual heavyweight who believes his own ideaology, until he’s overheard actually saying it. What a piece of exhaust.
Ummm, liberal elites hate us - they want to crucify us - or worse - but they're not openly vocal about it. This guy got caught - that's the only difference between him and the rest of them.
My question is, why did he damage those video surfaces? Will he buy new video surfaces to replace the ones he destroyed?
LOL, he got his vanJones on.
THAT’S a keeper!
Adios Al! Hell probably just go to some academic sinecure where he can complain of being martyred by the right-wing media.
BTW, for a professor hes not very good on geography and history. He said the Romans went to little towns in Turkey. Turkey as such didnt exist in the time of the Romans, most of the coast was Greek settlements, and the interior would have been Anatolia.
I didn't see where it said he'd be going back. Shame on SMU for hiring this overzealous nutjob in the first place.
I guess he fit right in with the rest of the tenured libs in academia...SMU or elsewhere...sigh.
Did Valerie Jarrett have her ‘eyes’ on this guy before he was appointed like she did with Van Jones?
Are you holding seances with George Carlin?
How about another take on this idea? In a free capitalist system, there is no need for this position.
I’m glad you like my twisted humor :)
Oh Noes.....
It doesn’t matter that this guy is gone - he’ll be replace by another O-bot that will think, feel, and act the same way, but will keep his mouth shut regarding true intentions. The only way this gets fixed is to unseat Obama in November, and pull all these weeds out by the roots.
They’re all freakin’ zealots.... and not necessarily those appointed. Many are hired in during an Administration and never leave, leaving EPA (or whoever else) with people in place slowing some processes and fast-tracking favored projects.
“I bet he will never show his face in Texas again. He may wind up having an accident”
But what about his “professorship” at SMU? I recoil at the idea that scum like this has infested our entire “public” education system top to bottom. Another generation, if we do nothing, and America will cease to exist in the form in which it was created. “Multiculturalism” is such BS. Send them all back from whence they came. Maybe the Mexicans can show the Africans how to build better mud huts and the Africans can instruct the Mexicans on how to throw spears.
He does look like a snooty self absorbed prick!
