I actually understood your first post. What that says I’m not sure.
BUT, I think the comment about attacking other FReepers was a non-sequitor, not directed at you but at the overall tone FR has taken in the recent past where there is more intra-mural fighting than attempts to take on Obama.
It’s just awfully hard to sustain the spirit of the early days of FR or any organization for that matter. One thing this Administration has done so craftily is to create so many ‘crises’ that no one can keep up with them, they’re just exhausting.
Awesome.
Makes me sooo proud of you guys! Great job! Carrying Breitbart posters was an outstanding idea!
Thank you, FReepers! So proud of you!
I wasted a few hours of my life watching that horrid show last night. I can see that the audience felt like they wasted their time, also. In my heart, I wanted that show to fail...and it did. That’s the only reason I watched.
There were so many groans when there used to be laughs and standing ovations with George W. THOSE White House Correspondence Dinners were really funny! He poked fun at himself rather than others. Okay...I know it’s a roast, but how dare anyone make fun of how someone looks. What about what he stands for? Newt...you still look GOOD to me. I had so wanted him to president, and I had felt that way for so many years.
I have spent time on the internet looking for copies of those dinners with George W. I haven’t had any luck.
Once again...thank you, FReepers! RIP Andrew Breitbart!
A good report by Hollywood reporter. A good time. We had a few more than a dozen. Missing pictures of Frax, Kristinn, Buford and several others. It was rainy and a little cold but we persevered. I have never been inside but I think outside is just as much fun. Shook hands with Cong Tim Scott, SC as he greeted us. Cong Allen West also stopped and spoke to us.Join us next year.
A is for holywierd A$$holes.
The money that is sent to FR does not go to local freeps. They were financed and organized by the chapters. We could use new organizing talent, though, you are right about that.
Kudos to this group for graciously and with class making their point and kudos also to the Hollywood Reporter for this well-written, interesting piece. Strange I've never heard about this group before, but the article says they've been protesting at this dinner for 13 years in a row.
Oh well, better late than never
I disagree. I know the East Coast FReepers, DC Chapter in particular, have not been as active as the past, not as large of crowds as before, but we are still out there creating memorable FReeps.
The DC Chapter is alive and kicking as seen in this past Christmas Party. There are a number of new faces mixed in with the old faces.
FR can be proud though of being the fore runners of the "Tea Party". We were protesting the stimulus bill and big government back on February 10,2009, before there was even a Tea Party.
We can also be proud of holding down the fort for all these years until the "silent majority" finally became the "loud" majority. Our members include or have included Breitbart, Tony Snow, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin to name a few who have moved on to their own fame.
Not getting a lot of exposure is that DC Chapter is still countering the Quakers in Olney, MD. This past Saturday was Week 327. We are currently planning for our 6th Recruiter Appreciation Day on Friday, May 18. While Walter Reed is no longer a Friday night staple for the regulars that were there, it is still talked about when we gather. FReepers who stood with us at Walter Reed even once go away with a lasting memory, proud to have stood with the DC Chapter.
DC Chapter with supporters protecting Arlington Circle during the moonbats march on March 17,2007. We were part of the Gathering of Eagles Support the Troops counter rally. Our banner says "Go to hell traitors, you dishonor our dead on hollowed ground". Now this is a memory us "newbies" cherish.
And on Jan. 10,2009, the Saturday before "The One's" inauguration, the DC Chapter countered Hamas supporters at Lafayette Square. The radical Muslims stormed across the street to where we were. We were nose to nose with them before police from 3 jurisdictions pushed the radicals back to their side.
While I joined FR after what you describe as the good old days, the DC Chapter has a lot of good recent memories.
We may not have the large numbers you remember, but we have a big spirit.
[Mr] T
Thank you very much, trooprally!! We just keep on FReepin’!!
PING!
Did you read the comments at the link to the picture of 3 freepers? I think it might be good to disable the link...?
Thanks DC for being there. Wish I could have made it again!
"Mister President, there is a term for you, just not a second one."
Thanks for posting this, Kristinn! (long time no see!!)
I’ve been waiting and waiting to hear how it turned out and my heart aches for not being there!
Sounds like a real successful FReep! Looking forward to reading all the links and seeing the pictures. So many FRiends from so many great times!!
Boy... they really have the intellectual elites there. < /s>
Or is it the big campaign donors and ass kissers?
Thanks!
Bringing up the rear on comments—
Thanks to all my fellow freepers who came out in the bad weather and made this a successful freep. It was a great time but after getting to sleep only at 3AM on Saturday, I was too tired to get on the computer until now.
