“Social issues” are a luxury we enjoyed during the “good times”; they have little impact when many people are borrowing for groceries.

When income tax forms have a place to fill in credit card info to make your tax payment, and gas stations switch to digital signs to facilitate frequent price fluctuations (usually upward), nobody cares about “social issues”.

My gauge of the economy is simple & reliable (and still portends trouble): the number of wheat pennies and bicentennial quarters I receive in my change. It leads me to believe Obama will lose by a wide margin in November; libs may not admit voting for the Republican candidate, but I’m sure some of these coins were in libs’ pockets a week ago.

That statement proves that you have no clue how things work.

“When income tax forms have a place to fill in credit card info to make your tax payment, and gas stations switch to digital signs to facilitate frequent price fluctuations (usually upward), nobody cares about “social issues”.”

Really?

I would venture that 50+million murdered babies and a fair share of their mothers now care about “social issues”.

When California is trying to pass a law making it illegal to counsel anyone under the age of 18 so that they turn away from homosexuality, EVEN IF THEIR PARENTS OR THE INDIVIDUALS WANT the counseling, I’d say that more & more people are caring about “social issues”.

You need to get your head out of your wallet and look around.

Ping to my last, Jersey guy.

By the way, I don't grok your reference to wheat-ear pennies. Do you mean pennies coming out of bureau drawers and old piggy banks?

Only idiots remove “social issues” from economics. Social conditions determine the economics. To think “social issues are a luxury” is like saying you can be a human being with no emotions. It can’t happen-—if it does—it is a worthless life and inhumane.

All Founders stated (and all history knew since Plato) that without Virtue there is no Freedom-—none. Trust/loyalty/Justice/Wisdom/Courage are “Social Issues” which Marxism destroys—on purpose—because without Trust—no ecomomic system can exist without totalitarian control.

This Western ideology—perfected by Christian Theology—is what creates a successful society—a culture which can flourish—because of trust and unity. We are being destroyed by destroying all virtue—all morality—The Judeo/Christian concept of God—it is what the Cultural Marxists planned in the 30’s to destroy Western Civilization through Atheist control of schools.

They did it in England and Europe with a socialist (Atheist) takeover in the 20th Century-—they controlled the language to control the ideas and education—brainwashing people into thinking you can remove Virtue from Man and still have a civil society....CAN’T———CS Lewis wrote about it in his Abolition of Man and predicted the destruction of England—and the future removal of Churchillian Christian ideals. He was right as Dalrymple documents.

We're conservatives. We're smart enough to multi-task.

There is no separation between “social issues” and fiscal ones when it comes to government. The left wants your money to pay for all their social engineering after all.

“Social issues” are a luxury we enjoyed during the “good times”; they have little impact when many people are borrowing for groceries.

"social issues" -really you mean moral issues, right? We now face socialism e.g. a government tyranny hell bent on enforcing a government declared morality and you suggest these "social issues" are irrelevant; that we should instead count our coins and seek more coins?

Liberty is premised upon inalienable rights endowed us by the Creator. In essence, the premise of liberty places government under God. To place government above God is by default changing inalienable rights to government granted rights making government our master RATHER than our servant.

At what price? What is your price for selling out my inalienable rights by suggesting they are a luxury item?

Here is something paraphrased that I recently posted to a persistent promoter of unimportance and no principles necessary except those THEY feel are important e.g the fiscal issues.

There is a fight for the soul of our Republic, the fight IS at the federal level and some suggest we win by retreating to the States e.g. State's Rights -what next, retreating to the towns, then retreating to our places of worship and finally retreating to our homes; waiting for that knock on the door in the middle of the night? We should retreat and wait; fighting government encroachment is a luxury right now? --When will RINOs wake up to what is going on, what has been going on?

Conservatives must succeed if our country is to survive and success is NOT about retreat and compromise -success in NOT about more of the same at a slower pace -success is not about more of the same with a fatter wallet under a RINO!

What worked for Reagan was promoting a correct understanding of what it means to be a Republic and what limited government is all about (not JUST a balanced budget); but a principled position, a clarion call that our primary goal as patriots is to defend the people against the encroachments of big government.

If the advocates of socialism want to use and expand the power of the government at all levels including the federal level to impose their version of a government mandated utopia upon the people BUT conservatives proclaim loudly that we represent those that defend against this AT ALL LEVELS including the federal, then WE WILL WIN at the polls and we will return our country back to the people!

However, if we continue to follow RINOs over the pocketbook only cliff or progressive political correctness cesspool then our Republic under God will be no more.

Level heads and rational minds will agree with you. Unfortunately this site is being taken over by the the "third and fourth party" folks who are now making his forum into the conservative laughing stock equivalent of DU..........

Funny how just a mere two years ago the war cry was "anybody but Obama" and now it's devolved to "anybody but Romney".

What's even more hilarious is that all the resident third and fourth party proponents can't even come to a consensus on who that candidate should be..........LOL!
