Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has found himself a new enthusiastic hunting partner in fellow Justice Elena Kagan. We know what you're thinking: "Wait a second, isn't Kagan that new judge Obama appointed?" Yep, that's the one. We're just as surprised (and delighted) as you are.
We have to give some kudos to Scalia, but it looks as though we have Sen. James Risch of Idaho to ultimately thank for this fortunate turn of events. Back in 2010 when Obama nominated Kagan for the Supreme Court position, Risch asked Kagan about her views on gun rights. She admitted that she'd never fired a gun before, but made a promise to go hunting with Scalia if she were confirmed.
Kagan kept her promise and went on a hunting trip with her philosophical opposite. The pair took a quick trip to a Virginia shooting range, followed by a hunting trip in the Washington area. When asked about the experience, Kagan replied, "It turns out, it's really good fun." The pair are planning on hunting again in Montana this October.
We can't be certain if Justice Scalia was motivated by political reasons or simply by a desire to find a new hunting pal, but we're not complaining. Another Supreme Court justice discovering her newfound love of guns is music to our ears. It's all a bit ironic considering that Kagan came off as a unsympathetic to gun rights a few years ago. As it turns out, all it took to get her to change her mind about guns was to actually pick one up.

You haven’t explored your inner-Gandhi sufficiently to know that carrots scream when thrown into boiling water and green peppers feel pain when diced.
There’s a sect in India whose members avoid walking for fear of stepping on crawling sentient beings and wear face masks so they don’t inhale microscopic sentient beings and kill them.
I hear they are taking applications.
I thought your usual opinion was to hit it.....lol
One of my cousins did exactly that back on my "back 60"; I saw the ~200-lb beast lying in a clearing. A week later, while we were taking a walk, I decided to show it to my wife -- and it was gone! Nothing was left except for a few tufts of hair and a couple of small bones!!
I'm not sure I want to encounter whatever devoured that monster -- and I'm certain I don't want to do so unarmed!
I’m not sure I want to encounter whatever devoured that monster
probably other hogs
Probably so. Nonetheless, I'm considering upgunning from the HK P7 I usually carry when I'm "out back on the place".

A couple of years ago, one of the relatives dressed out a buck back on the southeast corner of the place. A week later, while checking the north fence (over a mile from the field-dressing site) we found that deer head hung up in the fence. The ground on the opposite side of the fence was all torn up by something trying to drag the head through the fence.
Whatever carries a deer head (with a sizable rack) for over a mile, jumps a 4' fence, and tears up the ground trying to pull the head through -- is not something I want to meet up with barehanded!
I dont know anyone who kills for food nowadays.
If you eat meat in any form you kill for food
you just hire someone else to do the hard work.
Feral hogs are not game animals.
What ate that hog was probably other hog’s, they’ll eat anything they can find. My wife shot a sow just over 200 lbs about a month ago, two days later everything was gone except a little hair. A sounder of hogs can consume a cow carcass in short order and are excellent at cleaning up road kill.
Whatever lugged that intact deer head for a mile, and then jumped a 4' fence probably wasn't a hog. My thinking was that hogs would have devoured most of it near where they found it...
Last year. my wife and I did get a clear (<50 yds) look at a BIG cat with a long tail crossing the road about 4 miles away on the same creek drainage. TPWD says the cats aren't here, but folks swear they have seen them within a mile of my place -- and now I believe them!
BTW, we live in the far northeastern Texas Piney Woods. What State are you in?
Kinda like those Egyptians who have sex with their dead wives!
West TX. More and more big cats are starting to show up out here along with a few bears, I’m amazed how many bear pic’s are starting to show up on game cams now.
