Representative Barney Frank, who is not seeking re-election, gave a memorable exit interview this week to New York magazine suggesting that President Barack Obama "underestimated, as did Clinton, the sensitivity of people to what they see as an effort to make them share the health care with poor people."
The Democratic Party "paid a terrible price for health care," Frank said. "I would not have pushed it as hard."
Frank's take is self-serving...
...But let's not pretend health care reform was a fatal Iraq-style distraction from the main event. Instead of costing thousands of lives, it will potentially save many more with its incentives for preventive care, among other historic provisions.
The public might not appreciate it yet, but Obamacare took leadership and guts from the president whose name it bears.

I worked for twenty years for one of the world's most famous hospitals and I *personally* know this statement to be completely false.
Most people correctly define that as theft.
Foolish leftists such as Conason evidently have a leftist-cliche-lie-book that they refer to whenever they write an article, so that they can recycle oldies-but-goodies like "Iraq was just a distraction from Afghanistan", and "no blood for oil", and "no one died when Clinton lied".
The AP and Reuters seemingly refer to the same volume from time to time in order to infuse party-approved propaganda into their articles right from the donkey's mouth, er rear, much as writers will occasionally refer to Fowler to check on English usage.
It's clearly easier for them to recycle a tried-and-true lie-du-jour from the past than it is to invent another new lie.
Do they even have a clue that people have caught on to their game?
I would expect that Barney is going to have a good cry, because Conason has now turned his back on Barney (wait, that's a good thing for Barney, isn't it...).
So we do, and I would’ve missed it. Thanks much!
Conason again! ROTFL!!! He still can’t find a real job!
I just found an old book circa 1850 re: town duties in NYS....and the process for kicking bums out of town, illegitimate children and fathers ordered to pay, regular poor people...etc etc Pretty interesting.
Barney Frank: Always cute, always indignant, always mincing.

The article states that Clinton underestimated the potential for blowback. Bullsh*t. Clinton knew precisely what was going to happen. How could he not have given the fallout from Hillarycare. No one will ever convince me that Clinton wasn’t setting Obama up for a good a$$ beating when he implored Obama to push hard for the ACA. Then he and Hillary can ride in as the saviors of the Democratic Party. He figures on getting back to the White House one way or the other.
