Voting for Romney? Where is your line in the sand? (Vanity)

Posted on 04/26/2012 9:18:03 AM PDT by Student0165

I want to ask those who consider themselves conservatives, and are going to vote for Romney because he happens to have an (R) instead of a (D) behind his name on the ballot sheet, where do you draw your personal line in the sand and say "No more"? For stupid people reading this (liberals and DHS type workers), I don't mean violence - I mean not voting for "the lesser of two evils".

Voting to me is a purely pragmatic decision. Government is a necessary evil, and my job as a citizen is to limit its evil encroachments on society. Currently, sitting in the White House is the most evil president in the history of the Republic. It is my absolute duty to do what one man can do to remove him.

Well said. Government itself is a necessary evil. We have a 2 party system and the election winner will be one of the candidates of the two major party's. Willard or Hussein. Choose one. For anyone on the right side of the political spectrum, write-in's, 3rd party's, or sitting home pouting is effectively an endorsement of the status-quo.

I campaigned for and financially supported Cain.
I campaigned for Gingrich.
I will color in a box for Romney.

The next four years could see as many as four Supreme Court justices needing to be replaced. Republicans can bully Romney into nominating conservative justices. Four justices can change the future landscape of this Great Nation. But in which direction will we go?

After voting for every Republican candidate since Nixon’s second term, I did not vote for Dubya the first time.

I spent 4-years with a perfectly clear conscience and a calm view of politics.

I then chickened out and voted for Dubya the next time because I didn’t want Kerry to be Commander in Chief while we were in Iraq.

Those next 4-years nearly killed me with rage at Dubya’s RINO ways.

I’m never going to cave again. I will only vote conservative. From now on, “The
event is in the hand of God”.

Sorry, but when faced with two evils I think following any course other than what is required to get the lesser is just dead stupid. I loathe McCain, but I still voted for him to try to avoid the current disaster we’re suffering through. The spoiled children really proved a point by refusing to vote for McCain last time, didn’t they? Yeah that worked out well for us. Five trillion thanks guys. Instead of a McKennedy we could work on to force right, we’ve got a committed leftist appointing life-term judges to our federal courts at every level. Allowing a hardcore leftist to stay in office just to spite the RINO establishment is the wrong hill to die on. Just as I love it when Democrats vote for Greens, you can be sure the Democrats will love it when you vote for anyone other than the GOP nominee. This country was steered off course by increments over decades and I’m afraid that’s the only way we’ll get it back where it belongs. We need to go for wins where we can, but it’s dumb not to also limit damage where that’s the best option available.

Stabilize the patient first...

Vote for Romney in 2012, then primary challenge him in 2016.

Even if we get “the status quo”, that is better than a second Obama term. People would vote for Hillary if she had an R after her name because she would be slightly better than Obama.

I don’t like the choice, and will likely write in Romney on the “RINO” ticket to express my displeasure.

I will not vote for Romney.
Romney invented mandate healthcare. Obama liked it so much he used it as Obamacare for the whole country. Now we get to pick between Obama and Romney. No way in H!
I plan on voting for anyone but Obama or Romney and hen I’ll vote against any incumbent no matter what party.

You are correct.
I'm in Texas and got to have zero say in the GOP nomination.
I voted McCain in 2008 and never felt good about it.
Romney is way over the line of what I consider tolerable. I just can't in good conscience do it.
Plus the GOP will do much better in the next two cycles if bozo wins and we continue to have elections.
The GOP will self destruct if Romney wins and a GOP congress gives him what he wants.
The only positive I can think of (which is anything from certain) is the SCOTUS. Romney can't be counted on to put a conservative in.
But bozo will for sure put on another Karen type or worse.
All that to say I won't criticize family, friends, or fellow FReepers for making the choice to hold their noses and pull the lever against zero. Particularly in states like Virginia, Florida, Ohio, PA, etc.

What I seek to understand is what kind of judges will Milt appoint to the SCOTUS. We know what leftist slugs little barry bastard will appoint and the feckless Congress will approve. Will Milt nominate appeasement types to placate the commie democrats, like he did in Massoftwoshits? I wonder if there is any way to gauge this? ... And for the record, I don’t believe one word out of the liar’s mouth. He has shown he will lie with a straight face to get votes, but he remains a liberal scumbag.

Everything posted here shows that Romney will move with the political winds, and the success of his campaign organization, the Olymics, Bain Capital show that he is a talent executive. So we will be voting for him, and then turning up the heat so that he governs as a Constitutionalist and not a Progressive.

Two reasons to do this: appointments, especially judicial, and exxecutive orders.
Two important reasons.

Why do you dimwits keep asking such stupid questions? It is real simple folks: If you don't vote for Romney, Obama will win. What is so hard to understand about that? I know that the liberals would love for enough Conservatives to be dumb enough not to vote for Romney so that Obama will win. In short, you can either live in a fantasy or the real world, and in the real world there are two choices and only two choices: Obama or Romney. Take your pick. A line in the sand does not help.

I’d vote for 3 week old road kill if it got the current Prez out of office.

I would too - cheerfully - but road kill is unfortunately not one of our choices. We're stuck between a hateful but inept big government socialist who has the virtue of being too incompetent to accomplish his goals, or a potentially far more capable and somewhat more mainstream big government liberal who is likely to be more effective in moving America in the direction liberals dream of. Romney is several large steps too far to the left for my tastes.
