Me personally, I have been voting for 50 years and only voted once for a Republican, and against someone the rest pf the time. That era is over because this is likely the last time I will vote in a presidential election, that vote will not be cast for the lessor of two evils. So take your Romney campaign and stuff it.

Up until now he's been the father of the vicious smear campaign....but just wait. Romney can't win. His record is almost identical to that of Obama. I'm sorry to disillusion you, but "I'm not Obama" isn't enough. It won't wash. A poll worker in one of the primaries yesterday said they had trouble getting 8 or 9 voters all morning. Maybe you can explain to me how voting on principle makes me “cool” or gives me “pretend purity.” I’m neither. If it wasn’t for God nudging me and letting me know what He wants me to do, I might be one of the folks who are voting for Romney out of desperation.

How can an election be "about something" that entails abandoning the very core foundational principles of your philosophy, such as being pro-life or being against homosexual marriage? I guess we're at least lucky Mitt isn't "cool with" sending Jews to gas chambers, because we wouldn't be allowed to oppose it or even talk about it, because this election is "about" the economy and nothing else matters?
Even Dennis Prager pointed out that if the Republicans make the election "about" the economy, they're going to lose if the economy starts getting better. Elections should never be about such fleeting, temporary issues. They need to be about the fundamental divide between decent, freedom-loving individuals and godless socialists. That's the only way our cause and our movement can make lasting gains. Otherwise you leave the public with no reason to ever boot out an incumbent Democrat if the economy happens to be good at that time. Of course it's doubtful Mitt would ever want to talk about other issues either because he doesn't understand conservatism vs. liberalism or he at heart agrees with liberalism.
Besides, Mitt is as liberal on economics as he is on everything else. See socialized medicine Romneycare, raising taxes and fees, indexing the minimum wage to inflation, not caring about leaving poor people in permanent welfare programs, his state ranking 47th in job creation during his tenure, etc.

There is nothing fair about the GOPe primary rules, they are designed to produce exactly what they have delivered. They do however offer up an illusion for all the little people so they don't have a complete revolt on their hands.

The original post in this thread has to do with a FReeper leaving behind his allegiance to the Republican Party. Some of us have supported that FReeper; others have smacked down such an action (not automatically voting GOP for President), usually illogically, accusingly, and sometimes obviously without sincerity.
