You wont hear it anywhere else but here insiders have told us WTVJ reporter Jeff Burnside was fired last Friday for allegedly editing the Trayvon Martin 911 tape, the same tape NBC aired on Today in early April. Allegedly, his firing wasnt announced internally and so far there is no information whether NBC made a conclusion if the edit was misleading on purpose or if it was an oversight.

He got fired for something he “allegedly” did?
If he didn’t do it, he will win a lawsuit.
If he did do it and got fired, how is it “allegedly”?
I got into television news to make the world a better place, Jeff Burnside says. I know that sounds preposterously idealistic. He adds, But I don't apologize one bit. |
Where is Ralph Renick and Ann Bishop when you need them ?

Just Damn!
Let me correct what you wrote:
George Zimmerman may have a case for a libel suit.
to....
George Zimmerman has yet again another case for a libel suit.
Mine too.
NBC, was, last I looked a fully owned subsidary of General Electric. GE should become ZE.
I believe Comcast now owns NBC
- - - - - - - - - -
Comcast Corporation owns a controlling 51% interest in NBCUniversal, with GE holding a 49% stake.
NBC is a division of NBCUniversal.

“Oh, Im sure Jeff Burnside did this on his own without the knowledge or direction of anyone else at NBC...
yeah, thats the ticket.”
I agree completely. The title of the article should have read, “Like it or not, Jeff Burnside is forced to take one for the team.”
What a sham.
EODGUY
so when does Jeff Burnside take over for George Stephanopolous on This Week?
LOL! What makes that comment so funny, is that it could really happen! What a funny bunch of monkeys the media has become.
Hey now! Don’t be passing up Elliot Spitzer! He gets first dibs at the choice news morsels,,he’s paid his dues! (and his escorts!)
With that hair, he could be John Edwards brother.
Could his stare be more vacant? He is right up there with the vapid supermodel posers!
Jeff Burnside has been in the news business for more than 20 years working as a reporter, anchor, news manager and producer in cities such as Seattle, Boston and now Miami where he is part of the highly regarded WTVJ Special Projects Unit.
Burnside reports investigative, long-format and environmental stories. He periodically covers daily news. He’s won more than 25 journalism awards - for television and newspaper reporting and photography - including several regional Emmys. In 2007, he won three prestigious national awards for his investigative reporting; the Investigative Reporters and Editors Certificate, the National Press Club Award, and the Clarion Award.
His assignments have ranged from interviewing presidents, going inside to investigate violent white extremists, exposing dangerous religious cults, documenting serious lapses in Florida’s drivers licensing, videotaping bribes, uncovering the harm to whales from powerful sonar, to going undercover to chronicle the secret pipeline from puppy mills to pet stores. His assignments have taken him to Indonesia, Central America, the Caribbean and every part of America.
Burnside is also a frequent invited speaker and panelist on environmental journalism and journalism ethics. In addition, he’s earned fellowships at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh studying climate change, the Metcalf Institute for Environmental Reporting (University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography) and the Western Knight Center for Specialized Reporting in political coverage (University of Southern California Annenberg School). He is a long-time member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, and serves on the national board of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the Scripps Institute on the Environment at Florida Atlantic University.
Burnside was born and raised in Seattle, Washington where he grew a fondness for the outdoors, including boating, water and snow skiing, scuba diving and alpine hiking - reaching the summit of Mount Rainier. He lives in Miami Shores. Burnside is also active in volunteering for community non-profit organizations. He graduated from Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communications.

Liberal POS.
From the Freeper link: “Burnside alone wrote the second article using the altered quote.”
So he not only edited the vid (or stood over the editor) but he supplied the phony quote to the website. Any time a local station covering national news exposes a net or the wires to fraud, heads occasionally roll.
And hopefully someday soon George Zimmerman will own Comcast.
did he leave his brains in his other jeans?
Sounds like Dan Rather and JFK's murder.
I think I got chlamydia from looking at that picture.
Just amazing. Here is the first sentence in an Associated Press story:
“George Zimmerman, who slipped out of jail on $150,000 bail in the early morning darkness, went back into hiding Monday...”
How about this: George Zimmerman, who was released on bail in the early morning hours on Monday, went back into hiding...
Half John Edwards and half Dennis Miller?
