I thing the country will be better off with a lame duck Obama being rendered useless and neutered than Mitt with a mandate.

Neutered? How is that going to happen? He’s made it QUITE clear he will NOT be restrained by Congress and will just go around them and do what he wants when he wants.

What about a talk show? CNN needs some new talent to compete with Gov. Huckabee on Saturday and Sunday nights!

Yes, that’s the point. The myth is that he’s not any more dangerous, which is why it’s on the list. The reality is that the rubber stamp is more dangerous, which the Mitt supporters don’t seem to grasp.

Maybe so, maybe no. This could be it, but only if and when Newt himself says it is so. Until then, all these “anonymous sources close to Gingrich” are giving me a headache.

Good question. I had to look up who Ford was running with as his veep?

Do you know? Do you have to look it up too?

In any event... Yes, America suffered with Carter, but thank God we did get Reagan.

And FWIW, I believe Carter has had a more serious and negative impact on America since he left office than he ever did as president.

Newt for press spokesman! At least for a year. That would be sweet!

I would hope there is a place for Newt, on the remote chance that Romney is elected. He would be an asset, as a conservative voice. and a welcome counterforce to an uninspiring and unimaginative man.

Just great. Now I’ll have only the Losertarian to vote for in the primary.

Hope we get a majority in the senate and obama has fun with full out obstructionism from the R’s.

Under McConnell? Hardly. Sorry to say.

The money had dried up a long time ago. That’s why he wasn’t mounting any campaign against Romney. This is old news. Newt should have dropped out when the money dropped out. If not then, why now?

Yeah, I was going to vote for Jesus, but then I realized he wasn’t “Natural Born,” so there went my third party candidate...

Hang in there, Bro. Jesus WILL return and all this political mess and EVIL will end. He will establish His Kingdom and will rule over this world for a thousand years.

—It IS the best course IMO.—

It started as a small seed in my brain as I played out this chess game a few moves ahead, when it dawned on me that Romney might actually be rammed down our throats.

Then I realized that a rino empowered by a rino Congress may be more dangerous than a whackjob illegal, incompetent Muslim president with a partisan rino Congress fighting him at every move.

Then I even started entertaining voting for Obama.

Fortunately, that seed remains dormant.

So far...

But put my post in this context: I don’t expect Obama to finish his term.

Was Santorum still winning Primaries after Newt had tanked? Would Newt dropping out around that time have helped Santorum? It very well could have.

Many of us were urging Newt to please drop out. Newt and his supporters said, “No! We’re in this until the convention, so we can’t be bothered listening to you.”

Now he listens. Honestly folks, if you can’t be honest with me, at least be honest with yourselves.

Not everything is a conspiracy. Newt is simply out of money and out of time. You don’t have to like it, but it’s the truth.

You realize that kind of talk will get you banned.

>> Romneycare came from Heritage Foundation <<

I don’t think you should say that on FR, because it’s a backdoor way of supporting Romney.

—Your theory is blown all to hell because the Kenyan has made it clear he will not be obstructed by Congress and has and will continue to blatantly defy them and do what he wants.—

He may try. He would not have much luck if it was controlled by the republicans. Right now it is completely divided.

And he didn’t clue them in, and he hurt Newt every second he stayed in on the power mainly of Evangelicals and radio talk show hosts.

I have to agree with this. Santorum did better than Newt, but he never had a chance to win because too many conservatives recognized he could never win a national general election. Santorum was 2012's version of Mike Huckabee (2008) and Pat Robertson (1988). Santorum and Huckabee may be good family folks, but they would have no chance in an actual general election nationally. Newt could have been a consensus candidate, but social conservatives seem determined to go with the scripture quoting guy rather than considering anyone we can all coalesce behind. Outside of social issues, it is not even like Santorum had some great conservative economic record that could even attract fiscal conservatives. All he had was the social issues and that simply is not enough to attract enough conservatives even at the base and grass roots level to be viable against the establishment candidate.

I just don't see how this impasse is resolved easily. All it will likely take to splinter the conservative GOP base again in 2016 or 2020 is for Rick Santorum to run yet again. He will get the same voters, which is to say, just enough to keep a consensus conservative alternative from rising through the primaries.

I agree with your assessment, but there isn’t one chance out of a gazillion Romney will get my vote.
