Newt Gingrich plans to formally suspend or end his presidential campaign next Tuesday, senior Gingrich aides told Fox News.

Couldn’t your logic be switched, if Santorum had thrown his support to Newt last night’s results may have different?
For goodness’ sake, these candidates make decisions that are right for them based on the information they have at the time. Santorum did not want to endorse anyone last week. I believe it was to get the result in PA that he got last night-—even without actively campaigning he came in second. Know what? Even though I am a Newt supporter, I say, good for him. You play with the cards you’re dealt.
Please stop harping on Newt. Realistically, none of these people had a chance a year ago. Instead, look at what they’ve accomplished. The social conservative message was highlighted thanks the Rick. Energy issues are front and center thanks to Gingrich. Even whacky Paul has brought debt and the Federal reserve to the table. Without these guys Romney would have been blathering his mush speech after speech.
Ha ha.
Good ones...not.
Santorum claimed to be in it all the way, too.
He said they would have to add rooms on the WH to accommodate his large family.
He never let on that PA was going to be his waterloo.
That was a fact, unless he could overwhelm Romney enough to win that politically odd and tough state, without going deeply into debt just to try, with no guarantee of winning.
And it was fact that he could not ABIDE losing that state AGAIN, nor AFFORD to fight Romney for it.
He KNEW it.
His minions didn’t know it.
You will pretend not to know it, but I have no reason to pretend.
One more thing...he also KNEW that his delegate performance was poor, relative to his popular votes and his votes in caucus states.
Romney and Paul clean up in delegates.
Santorum WON the state of MO, but he will come away with only 7 of its 52 delegates, and ultimately even those pitiful few will support Romney.
This is just one example of many, that he had to know as this campaign unfolded.
That his minions never did understand.
And he didn’t clue them in, and he hurt Newt every second he stayed in on the power mainly of Evangelicals and radio talk show hosts.
Meanwhile, PA was a drop dead date.
He understood, even if his minions didn’t.
That’s why I played around with your “jackass” perjoritive directed at Newt, but you had Santorum in the same post and I thought, let’s reorder the words and get this RIGHT.
I agree, Chris.
No more donations to politicians.
I donated the most to Santorum..but also to Cain and Newt along the way.
What a waste(not Santorum: the rest).
I remember back in ‘08, I gave Fred Thompson $100 and he suspended his campaign the next day.
Like Obama can’t stop talking about Bush, maybe it’s time for you to stop talking about Santorum, tx. It’s really getting old, and not very interesting.
The GOP has now lurched to the left of the 1960 Democrat party.
It was, until Doughty One called Newt a jackass.
For waiting til Santorum quit, to quit.
A little histoire, as Rush would say,
doesn’t hurt at times like that.
You should be happy, the old man who wasn’t young and cute like Rick...never quite saw that, but oh well...is also going out.
You and your women’s GOP group can celebrate.
GYAAAHHH Fred Thompson!
Yep, MM, I’m keeping that money! These fools can get their a$$es handed to ‘em just as well without my funds.
And don’t forget to go to his post where he called him that, and write “LOL, Dought”.
How’s that brokered Convention looking now txrangerette?
LMAO... Newt’s about as popular as a pasture pattie about now.
Picked up this little tid-bit at the right scoop from a blogger who is pissed. his/her post.
For anyone who doesn’t believe that Mitt is winning this election with dirty, alinsky style lies, check out this robocall from the Rockland County (NY) Republican Chairman where he tells voters that all of the other republican candidates have dropped out of the race, but they should go out and vote for Romney to show the democrats that republicans are united:
Just heard something about Newt taking some kind of “Victory Tour” or “Victory Lap” (my words) next week. Not sure I heard it right. Anyone else hear it?
Keep on keeping on.
I’m sure you will, if past is prologue.
On behalf of the pot, Santorum, calling that kettle, Newt, black.
Rick wasn’t able to get the delegates although he won a lot of votes and several states.
He knew that.
He knew he couldn’t afford to battle Romney straight up for an outright PA win, or a close loss, either way.
Which was his home state, which he once lost big and that was enough.
He knew THAT.
But he took on Romney and he took on Newt, when Newt was still viable although beginning to fall from Romney’s blows in IA and FL.
But there was a line and he knew where it was.
I don’t use words like jackass to describe folks.
You did, to describe one man.
Not quietly letting that go.
He is filthy. The Democrat primary will be held in November this year.
Frankly, with the cuts to our military the Republicans seem willing to sign on to, I’m thinking they’re giving the 1972 McGovern Democrat party a run for the money.
How’s that brokered convention coming TxRangerette?
Come on, you can face it. We’re here to help you.
Question: How many Newt supporters does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Answer: We still don’t know. The light hasn’t come on for any of them yet.
I’ve been busy here defending Newt from being called a jackass.
If you get more info, please post.
Thanks.
“Senior Gingrich aides” are probably looking for other jobs right now so how can they keep it a secret?
You were better at “jackass”.
That’s devolving discussion DOWN, which is fitting.
I never counted on a brokered convention. I never predicted one. I said the truth that Newt was still in, trying to effectuate one if he could.
If he can’t, he can’t.
Speaking of can’t...Santorum can’t.
Doesn’t merit calling either one a jackass.
But if that’s your preferred image...so be it.
None, other than a "me" or "money" reason, both of which are unbecoming.
He chooses to put his people and backers in a squeeze play. They all get hung out to dry for the next week...and Newt doesn't lead as a leader should.
