MetroWeekly.com is exposing the whole truth that Washington Post would not reveal:
Mitt Romney’s campaign tonight announced that it has hired Richard Grenell, an out gay former George W. Bush administration official, to serve as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s “national security and foreign policy spokesman,” according to a report from The Washington Post that did not mention Grenell’s sexual orientation.
Grenell served through September 2008 in the Bush administration as a spokesman to the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations — and told The Advocate‘s Kerry Eleveld as he left the administration that it was his hope that New York would have marriage equality soon and that he would one day be able to marry his partner, Matt Lashey. The couple has been together 10 years. . . .
Andrew Sullivan, who had endorsed Obama’s 2008 run, wrote of the news, “For Romney to have an openly gay spokesman is a real outreach to gay Republicans, a subtle signal to moderates, and the Santorum faction’s reaction will be worth noting.”
Grenell is not just gay, but a gay activist who pushes for same-sex marriages.
At the end of Grenell’s service in the Bush administration, he took a notable whack at the administration, telling The Advocate‘s Kerry Eleveld of his effort to have his partner, Matt Lashey, listed in the United Nations’ Blue Book, which is “a reference guide of contact information for different member states of the United Nations as well as diplomatic personnel and their spouses.”
Grenell had attempted to have Lashey’s name added several times, to no avail. He told The Advocate back in 2008, “What put me over the edge was a friend and colleague who met her spouse after I was already with my partner — they got married and subsequently were put into the Blue Book in a matter of days.”
The State Department eventually told him that the Defense of Marriage Act prevented the listing. Although he protested the decision behind the scenes, Lashey’s name was not ever added, which led to his coming forward to criticize the treatement publicly as he left his post.
HuffPost has noted that since the choice, Grenell has scrubbed his Twitter account and website of offensive material...

Right on, wagglebee.
Romney head spokesman is NOT a government job. This hiring is a signal that the liberal is moving toward more friendly territory after nearly the entire conservative movement bought into his trash small non-conservative lapses in the records of true conservatives such as Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, and Bachmann.
And, darned if we didn’t let him play us like suckers.
I guarantee that a man who actively promotes same sex marriage is not going to be silent when in a governmental position of influence. He will use his position within the bureaucracy to advance his cause within the sphere of influence that job encompasses. That’s ALWAYS been the way of a spoils system, and anyone who says he is ignorant of that fact did not have a pulse during high school social studies and government class.
Courageous action, guided solely by principle. You might want to consider these concepts. Might save you from wasting years of your life on political vanity.
Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. - George Washington
George Washington even decried cursing in his army.

Agreed, and well said.
I have to say that that is a rather trollish thing to say, by the way.
The GOP has always been about hiring and promoting based on merit. Why exclude the best qualified for the job because they are gay? Makes no sense.
Unfortunately, it seems there are a lot of people who if they had their druthers would eliminate all gays. Obama is taking the country down like the Titanic, and they want to snipe about the frikkin deck chairs.
Great post.
His FReep page...
“I am a Christian, Father, American, and Conservative Republican, in that order.”
Ironic, huh? He makes this claim on his FReep page, yet his posts are pro-gay.
?
I’m really not sure why I should care about this? Can gay people not be conservatives? Were they born that way or is conservatism a choice?
I look at Romney hiring this guy and shake my head...but I dont know the guy and I dont think its worth getting all worked up about unless I see some real evidence that this particular guy is a bad apple, and is not just being used by the media to cripple the Dem opposition.
Child molesters, rapists, criminals of all types get no sympathy from me. Flaming gays make me want to vomit, but I have a life long friend who, after kids and a divorce, “came out”, and while I do not understand it at all, and I advised him to consider any type of counseling to make himself sure he was not choosing a path of his own destruction, he is still a friend in the sense that God tell me to be there to provide help if he needs it. (He wont be around my kid though).
In the Navy, during dont ask dont tell, it was obvious that there were homosexuals serving. As long as they did their job and did not declare or otherwise advertise their orientation, they usually did their jobs well. I dont see much difference here.
The homosexuals need to conform to our society, not the otherway around, to answer your question about the 2%. But the context of my comments here had only to do with his being hired. Romney had a choice to hire him. That was his choice. (shaking head again) I wished Reagan were still here, but no Reagan is showing up this time. So I will fight Obama with what I have.
All a Smart Republican has to say about the “Gay Issue”, what a person does in his/her bedroom is NOT the BUSINESS of the Federal Government and I wish to be the POTUS head of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. The Federal Government has no Business in a person's bedroom. PERIOD.
DumbA$$ Romney just gave conservatives red meat. FU Romney for pissing off your base.
No, I hope I’m wrong.
I hope SP ignores Romney. But if she DOES endorse him...
Hoo Boy! Look out!
FGS, how many times does she have to say ABO?
Romney is going from bad to worse. Almost as though he and his team is seeing how big of a crap sandwich conservatives will swallow.
As a private business you should be able to hire whomever you like.
Now you tell me, is a church conservative if they let sinners (gays) into the service?
“Why exclude the best qualified for the job because they are gay? Makes no sense.”
I was going to answer, but is seem the other have adequately put you in your place.
It’s what he does, stir dissension.
You are singularly ill informed or ?
Thank you.
